BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Seth Rogen is the voice of the lovable warthog ‘Pumba’ in the upcoming remake of the 1994 Disney animated classic “The Lion King”, but he readily admits he isn’t the best singer in the world. He did, however, receive vocal coaching from Pharrell Williams for the role. Rogen doesn’t think his Pumba performance impressed the singer of the hit ‘Happy’, and admits that he felt intimidated being in the studio with the hugely successful musician. Rogen got through it though, and says that he’s finished working on his parts for the movie, which will hit the big screen in 2019.

★ WWE stars John Cena and Nikki Bella have split up. The couple announced their break-up on Sunday evening, putting an end to their engagement. They said in a statement, “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.” The couple was together for six years and Cena proposed to Bella last year on live TV at Wrestlemania.

★ An estate auction for the late Zsa Zsa Gabor included some of the high-priced luxuries you would expect – and some you wouldn’t. More than 450 possessions of the late star went on the block, including a diamond and 14-karat gold necklace with her famed slogan ‘Dah-ling’, which sold for $20,000. More mundane items on the auction block fetched a pretty penny too, as fans clamored to get a piece of Zsa Zsa’s estate, including a set of four empty prescription pill bottles she left behind, priced starting at $700. Gabor died in December 2016 at age 99.

★ Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk celebrated their engagement over the weekend with a star-studded bash at the Los Angeles Theatre. There were many celebrity attendees including Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson and James Corden. Liv Tyler, Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg were also in attendance. No word on a wedding date at this point, but that might be a small affair compared to the engagement party. Paltrow says she doesn’t imagine she’ll have a ”big” wedding with Falchuk. Quote: “I think I’m [too] old to have a big wedding and a big ol’ white dress and all that. I gotta dial it back”. There are rumors, however, that the two are already married.

★ Conor McGregor says the security guard waging a legal war for allegedly injuring him with a can at a press conference is trying to capitalize on the controversial fighter’s fame. McGregor has filed documents in the case shooting down William Pegg’s attempt to be awarded damages from profits made from McGregor’s fight with Nate Diaz and a smartphone app the fighter created after the incident. McGregor says in the docs, “Despite the relative simplicity of this case, plaintiff has repeatedly attempted to make a ‘mountain out of the molehill’ that is this case, based solely on the perceived fame and notoriety of Mr. McGregor.” The security guard claims in his lawsuit the can hit him in the back, causing him to incur medical expenses from his injury for just under $5,000. He sued seeking $95,000 in damages.

★ R. Lee Ermey, the former Marine who played the sadistic Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in “Full Metal Jacket,” has passed away. Ermey’s manager says the drill instructor turned actor died Sunday morning from complications from pneumonia. Ermey appeared in more than 70 films.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Ed Sheeran – has reportedly submitted plans for 1.5-metre “railings” outside his $15.5 million London home. Media is reporting that he was previously refused permission to build a fence with gates outside four-bedroom townhouse. (Nice work-around!)
• Beyoncé – headlined Coachella on Saturday night, and in doing so, made history as the first black woman to top the bill. She performed 26 songs (!!!) complete with rapid-fire choreography and lots of costume changes.
• The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – began honoring songs in addition to artists at the 33rd annual induction ceremony on Saturday night. The inaugural class included ‘Rocket 88′, by Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats, ‘Rumble’, by Link Wray; ‘The Twist’, by Chubby Checker; ‘Louie Louie’, by The Kingsmen; ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, by Procol Harum, and ‘Born to Be Wild’, by Steppenwolf.
• Rainbow – former singer (and former Deep Purple singer) Joe Lynn Turner has been hospitalized in Belarus after being diagnosed with a “heart issue.” The 66 year-old was treated in a Minsk emergency hospital for “myocardial infarction,” a form of heart attack. His condition is listed as stable.
• Mason Ramsey – The Walmart Yodeling Boy completed his viral journey from Internet sensation to bonafide star when he took the stage Saturday night and performed at the legendary Grand Ole Opry. On Friday, Ramsey hit the stage at Coachella.
• Rhett Akins – was awarded the title of 2018 ACM Awards Songwriter of the Year on Friday night. This award was given to him at the Academy of Country Music’s Stories, Songs & Stars event in Las Vegas.
• Blake Shelton – Although he was able to be at the ACM Awards on Sunday, he says that between filming episodes of “The Voice” and making his own music, he rarely has time to make it to awards shows anymore. He says that one year, he convinced NBC to move “The Voice” to another night so he could attend the CMAs, and he ended up winning ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’.

SAY ‘WEINER DOG’:
Sometimes our pet dogs are so intuitive, we swear that they can read our minds. And new research shows that while they might not exactly be telepathic, they certainly know and appreciate it when we smile at them. A study shows that smiling at your dog can boost his or her levels of oxytocin, also called “the love hormone” for its role in building attachment and trust. The bottom line is that your dog LOVES it when you smile at him. The lead author of the study, Finnish professor Outo Vaino says that this is a great example of the unique communication capabilities between a dog and its owner.
(Yes, he loves it when I smile, but he loves it more when I open the fridge!)

JOLTIN’ JOE:
It has been said before, but really, is there anything that coffee CAN’T do? Now it is being credited with helping with weight loss. Yes, apparently, coffee contains ingredients that can boost your metabolism. (***Caution: long words alert!***)Nutritionist Sarah Flowers says that: “Your daily cup of coffee can help boost your metabolic rate, by stimulating thermogenesis, helping you in turn to burn more fat.” It also contains Chlorogenic acid, which helps to slow down the absorption of carbohydrates, as well as stimulating the hormone Epinephrine, which helps to break down fat. And it’s no secret that being a stimulant, coffee also helps your performance in the gym, increasing your endurance and making exercise less arduous. But that doesn’t give you a licence to drink that stuff all day. Too much of it can make you intolerant to its effects, so limit yourself to a couple cups a day. And of course, don’t load it up with sugar, syrups and milk…because that’s not going to do anybody any good.

➢ Sunshine: A ravenous appetite often develops because of a lack of serotonin. Sunshine brightens up your mood and minimizes the risk of binge eating.
➢ Tea: Hot, unsweetened tea can be very soothing for your stomach and can ease the craving sensations.
➢ Meditate: It helps you cope with stress, which is often the cause of these seemingly insatiable attacks.
➢ Cool off your palate: An ice-cold sensation in your mouth works wonders against cravings. Feel some cravings coming on? Just suck on an ice cube.
➢ Vitamins: Instead of chocolate or other sweet stuff, eat a handful of dried fruits. This way your body receives not only the sweetness you’re seeking, but also vitamins and minerals.
➢ Coffee break: Coffee or green tea can reduce your appetite and boost your metabolism.
