Can You Believe This Sheet?

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Bobbi Kristina Brown is awake, according to her father Bobby Brown. The announcement comes nearly 3 months after the only child of the late Whitney Houston was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home. She has spent all that time in a coma, with decreasing hope of recovery, until this past week. Her father now acknowledges: “She’s watching me.” However, it’s thought to be far too early to predict whether 22-year-old Bobbi will make a full recovery.

★ William Shatner is planning to honor his friendship with fellow “Star Trek” icon Leonard Nimoy by writing about it in a new book. Shatner upset many fans when he chose to attend a charity event in Florida rather than his late pal’s funeral in February, but now the still energetic 84-year-old has confirmed to reporters at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Dubai UAE: “I’ve been asked to write a book about it, and I think I will.” His most recent book, “Shatner Rules”, co-authored by Chris Regan, was published in 2011.

★ And the Rolling Stones’ legendary studio-on-wheels is getting a new life in Calgary AB. In 1968, the Stones set up a mobile studio in the back of a truck so they could record whenever and wherever they wanted. They produced “Sticky Fingers” and “Exile on Main St” in it. Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin also used it. Now, nearly a half-century later, it’s being painstakingly restored to its original condition. It’s to be installed at Calgary’s National Music Centre in the new Studio Bell complex, scheduled to open in Spring 2016.

WHY TEA IS DISGUSTING:
✗ It Tastes Rank – Ask a tea drinker to make the taste sound appealing and their minds implode because it can’t be done. You’re drinking wet leaves with milk. A pile of wispy gunk.
✗ The Concept Is Bizarre – The idea of wetting a bag, then taking it out, and drinking what has been left behind is ludicrous. Who came up with that?
✗ It Takes a Lot of Effort – Waiting for the kettle to boil; timing how long you’ve let the bag ‘infuse’. Then you have to dispose of the soggy bag. And your mugs get all stained.
✗ It’s Too Hot – You have to wait to avoid internal burns. There’s a window of about 2 or 3 minutes where it has an optimum temperature … and then it’s too cold.
✗ The Other Flavors Are Even Worse – Mango tea!? Green tea?!? Pumpkin Spice Brulée Oolong tea!?!? Caramel Chai Rooibos tea?!?!? WTF is this?
✗ It Ruins a Perfectly Good Cookie – Why would any level headed individual take a decent shortbread and dip it into leaf & milk-flavored water to the point it becomes too floppy to eat?

TEN YEARS OF TUBE:
YouTube is celebrating a decade of making users Internet-famous. 10 years ago this week the 1st-ever video was uploaded to YouTube, and it didn’t feature a single cat or Kardashian. The 18-second clip, entitled “Me At the Zoo”, featured site co-founder Jawed Karim standing in front of the elephant pen at the San Diego Zoo. Today YouTube has more than 1 billion users and some 300 hours of video gets uploaded … per minute. YouTube’s all-time most viewed music videos …

HOW MUCH ARE BEANIE BABIES ACTUALLY WORTH?
If you’re a child of the ’90s, you likely hoarded Beanie Babies, convinced that someday your mint-condition collection would be worth a fortune (that’s what Ty Inc led you to believe). Well, there’s a royal purple plush Princess Diana commemorative bear currently listed on eBay for a whopping $30,000 (you can ask anything, the bottom line is what you get). But what about some of the more common characters? A sampling of what they’re going for …
✓ Mystic the Unicorn – One purportedly ‘very rare’ version is on eBay at $400. Others on the Internet are being sold for as little as $1.99.
✓ Flash the Dolphin – One of the original 9 Beanies released in 1993. Some sellers have been asking around $60, but expect to get maybe $20 tops.
✓ Spot the Dog – You’ll find Spots listed for upwards of $100, but for the most part prices around $3.99 are the norm.
✓ Hissy the Snake – Currently listed on eBay at $90, though there seems little reason it should command that high a price. Could it be that fabulous red tongue?
✓ Twigs the Giraffe – Twigs may have been cute, but cute is only worth so much these days. Most of those currently up for auction run between $2-and-$12.50.
✓ Bongo the Monkey – It seemed like everyone wanted a Bongo in the ’90s. There’s one on eBay listed at $9,000 right now. Make an offer before it expires Thursday. 3 bucks, maybe?
✓ Pinchers the Lobster – A ‘rare’ one is currently listed at $150. Or you can go to another site and pay $1.50, plus get free shipping when you buy 10 or more. Seriously.
✓ Legs the Frog – Another 1993 original, it could bring $350 if you kept it in perfect condition. Although be forewarned: You’ll be competing with a lot of people who are selling theirs for $5.
✓ Cubby the Bear – Another favorite that was ‘retired’ in order to inflate its value. One owner is asking $80.99. Another is offering one with ‘mint tags’ (never, ever remove them!) for … $2.50.
(Seems Beanies just aren’t the payoff that was promised. However, for a complete collection of Pogs … we’ll give you 28¢.)

BULL’S BITS

WOMEN’S QUIRKS:
• We always apply mascara with an open mouth and, if we ever attempt to shut it, mess up and get that mascara stain.
• We throw our phone into our big purse and then, spasmodically, look for it and can’t find it when it rings.
• When we look at ourselves in the mirror, we often think: “It would be great to have a picture taken in this position …”
• We always need to keep several different shampoos, various conditioners, and 2 or more different shower gels in our bathroom.
• We always have nothing to wear, even if our closet is overloaded with stuff.
• We brush our hair before going to bed.
• We think that all beer tastes the same.
• We always dress up nicely and apply makeup to go grocery shopping … or to empty the garbage … or even to just answer the phone.
• We drive miles out of our way, because we are scared of getting lost using a shortcut.
• When we cry, we would love someone to see it and offer us a cuddle.
• We definitely need to check out how we look in the mirror before hitting the outside world.
• To go on a 3-day trip we pack at least 12 outfits, just in case we’re unsure about what to wear.
• Sometimes we fake pleasure … because our man faked the foreplay.
