Deja Moo!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The man accused of stalking TV personality Anderson Cooper completely broke down in tears in court on Tuesday causing a postponement of proceedings. He’ll get another chance to enter an official plea at another session tomorrow. Alex Hausner (38) was slapped with harassment, menacing, and stalking charges following his arrest last Summer after he allegedly tried to kick down the door of the CNN anchor’s NYC home and threatened both Cooper and his partner, Benjamin Maisani. Hausner has been in custody since July of last year.

★ Discovery Channel may have canceled its “Everest Jump Live” but it will turn film footage it has collected into a documentary exploring the dangers of Mount Everest. Climber Joby Ogwyn was poised to be fitted with cameras and leap from the summit of Mt Everest on May 11th, a stunt that would air in 224 countries. But Discovery canceled the jump after the disastrous April 18th avalanche on the mountain that claimed the lives of 13 people. The pieced-together documentary special may run as long as 2 hours.

★ Ellen DeGeneres is launching a new HGTV show called “Ellen’s Design Challenge”, in which 6 competitors must design and build furniture within 24 hours. The participants will need to showcase creativity and versatility to impress a panel of judges. The last one standing will take home a cash prize. “Ellen’s Design Challenge” will premiere in 2015. The 6-episode series marks the first foray into cable TV by Ellen’s A Very Good Production banner. It’s also producing a lesbian comedy pilot for NBC-TV called “One Big Happy”, starring Elisha Cuthbert.

★ Dylan Penn has been signed by Premier Model Management, the agency saying it believes she shows ‘great potential’ as a fashion model. The 22-year-old daughter of divorced acting couple Sean Penn (“Secret Life of Walter Mitty”) & Robin Wright (“House of Cards”) will be working with the London-based modeling agency responsible for kick-starting the careers of Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford among others. Meanwhile, Dylan is about to begin filming the horror movie “Condemned”, but says she won’t be too upset if her acting career doesn’t pan out.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beyoncé / Jay Z – They’ll reportedly skip Kim Kardashian & Kanye West’s wedding to avoid all the hoopla (and appearing on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”). But they’re making it up by renting a yacht for Kimye’s honeymoon. Jay Z is also said to be hosting a lavish bachelor party for Kanye at his 40/40 club in NYC.
• David Gray – Tonight he returns to North America for a select run of tour dates beginning in Los Angeles CA. The 8-city outing runs through May 4th in Toronto ON. Gray has plans to release a new album by the end of the year.
• Led Zeppelin – Ahead of the reissue of their first 3 albums in June, 2 previously unheard recordings have been released: An early version of “Whole Lotta Love” (which will appear on the new incarnation of “Led Zeppelin II”) and an unreleased version of the blues classic “Keys To the Highway” (on the “Led Zeppelin III” reissue).
• Lorde – She’s been working non-stop since her breakout single “Royals” in 2013. But on doctor’s orders, she’s postponing her Australia tour for ‘immediate rest and recuperation’ from a chest infection. New dates will be scheduled soon.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “Human Centipede: Final Sequence” – Charlie Sheen’s porn star-ex Bree Olson and Julia Roberts’ actor-brother Eric Roberts will appear in the final film in this sick series about a sadistic doctor who drugs victims and then sews them together … linked mouth-to-anus. Roberts tells “Entertainment Weekly” this 3rd instalment involves prison inmates and is ‘really horrible’.
• “Kung Fu” – Aussie filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is reportedly in talks to direct a bigscreen adaption of the vintage TV series. Late actor David Carradine played the Shaolin monk ‘Kwai Chang Caine’ in the martial arts show that ran from 1972 to 1975. If Luhrmann signs on, he would reportedly rewrite the current script entirely before filming.
• “The Operators” – Brad Pitt is keeping on with the theme of military films. His Plan B production company is tackling the subject of General Stanley McChrystal, the controversial former commander of forces in Afghanistan. The general and his staff openly disdained their superiors, including president Obama, ultimately leading to McChrystal’s ‘resignation’.
• “Padre” – This upcoming thriller is described as having the tone of “No Country for Old Men” and “A History of Violence”. The story centers on a priest with a dark past who’s on a quest for revenge after being left for dead by a team of thugs. However, he soon discovers the men belong to the sheriff’s department in the small town where he’s seeking refuge.
• Untitled Hanks Project – Tom Hanks is hoping to reunite with director Steven Spielberg for their 4th feature film collaboration. The as-yet-to-be-titled Cold War thriller is based on the true story of attorney James Donovan, who helped negotiate the release of US spy plane pilot Gary Powers after his U-2 aircraft was shot down in 1960 in Soviet Union airspace.

BETTER MUSICIANS ‘MORE ATTRACTIVE’:
For decades male rock stars have been known for their ability to draw hordes of admiring female fans. Now researchers may have uncovered a scientific reason for their attractiveness to the opposite sex. A new study from Britain’s University of Sussex involving 1,500 women with an average age of 28 suggests that those at their most fertile are more attracted to men who can produce complex music. Scientists say the findings indicate that women subconsciously believe men with strong musical abilities carry better genes. That, they say, provides scientific support for 19th-century scientist Charles Darwin’s theory that the prime function of music is to aid sexual courtship. (Darwin, of course, was famous for his ability to party like a rock star.)

LOOKING DOWN ON PEOPLE:
A couple of new ways to get high in the near future …
• ‘Glacier Skywalk’, Jasper, Alberta: Debuting May 1st, a glass-floored circular observation platform in the Canadian Rockies that juts out dramatically 280 m (918 ft) above the valley floor. Visitors will be able to look down on the glaciers that make up the landscape of the Columbia Icefield area between the Jasper and Banff National Parks.
• ‘TILT’, Chicago, Illinois: 360 Chicago (formerly John Hancock Observatory) is adding a new glass-enclosed viewing platform that leans out 8 tourists at a time 1,000 ft (305 m) above the city. Once you reach 94 stories, you step inside the platform and tilt straight down for a heart-stopping view of the ‘Magnificent Mile’. Scheduled to open this Spring.

NOW TAKING RESERVATIONS:
Long-shuttered NYC restaurant Tavern On the Green reopens today after extensive renovations. The re-designed, modernized, and smaller version is said to be less garish and more ‘Old New York’. The famed Central Park landmark has gone through years of uncertainty after closing New Year’s Day 2010, beset with financial problems. The city had to go to court to get the previous owners to give up the famous name, then awarded the space to 2 restaurateurs from Philadelphia PA, of all places. But the out-of-towners have proven respectful of the 80-year-old restaurant’s heritage, attempting to recapture the casual elegance of the 1934 original. (It’s been featured in numerous TV shows & movies, including “Ghostbusters” and “Mr Popper’s Penguins”.)
