• Beale Street Music Festival (Memphis TN) – The 35th annual weekend bash includes shows by BoB, Cee Lo Green, Ke$ha, Mumford & Sons, and Stone Temple Pilots. It’s part of the month-long “Memphis in May” celebration, which includes the ‘World BBQ Championship’.
• “New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival” (LA) – The first of a 2-weekend event. Performers include Jamey Johnson, Kid Rock, Jimmy Buffett, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson.
• Rock & Rebuild Concert (Sydney, Australia) – Sunday “Live Aid” organizer Bob Geldof stages a benefit show to aid victims of the Australian floods, the New Zealand earthquake, and the earthquake/tsunami in Japan.
• Stagecoach Country Music Festival begins (Indio CA) – Saturday-Sunday the 5th annual includes performances by Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Easton Corbin, Josh Turner, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and oodles more. Kris Kristofferson replaces legendary country queen Loretta Lynn, who’s recuperating from recent knee surgery.

• Joe Nichols – Tonight he kicks off his “The Shape I’m In” tour in Toowoomba, Australia. It’s his 3rd tour Down Under.
• Keith Urban – Saturday he & John Mayer perform at the annual Tiger Woods Foundation fund-raiser in Las Vegas. Over 13 years, the event’s raised over $12 million for educational charities.
• Miley Cyrus – After nearly 2-year break from touring, she kicks off an international tour tonight in Quito, Ecuador followed by a show in Lima, Peru Sunday.
• Spice Girls – 35-year-old Mel B is set to become a judge on the Australian version of Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” singing competition. Production begins just weeks after she’s due to give birth in June.

Harvard University psychiatrist Robert Coles says grandparents are having less and less
interaction with their families. Many are reduced to nothing more than ‘holiday visitors’, Coles claims, and are not getting the opportunity to pass on their wisdom or make a difference in their grandchildren’s lives. (C’mon people, who’s gonna spoil the crap out of your offspring to make them unlivable for a month afterward?)

If you have trouble sleeping, you should never read, eat, work, surf the ‘net, or watch TV in bed. It’s all a matter of association, according to Medical College of Virginia researchers. They contend that bedtime should be associated only with sleep. (After 20 years of marriage, that’s about all it brings to mind!)

The old school ‘power lunch’ is dead. According to a recent poll, most working people wolf down lunch in a quarter-hour or less. Researchers have found that 56% actually bolt their food in LESS than 15 minutes. 42% eat lunch at their desks or on their go. (It’s no accident the French are happier and more stress-free than most. To be deemed worthwhile, lunch lasts as long as 2 hours in France, every morsel and moment savored.)
