It’s Another Running Of The Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ryan Reynolds’s antihero ‘Deadpool’ has teamed up with fundraising site Omaze to raise money for “F-Cancer”, a nonprofit organization dedicated to, well, I’m sure you can figure it out. Those generous enough to contribute money will have a shot at winning the custom-made pink Deadpool costume that Reynolds shows off in the promo — and which, he helpfully suggests, would be ideal for either an S&M get-together or as an outfit for your farm’s scarecrow. To make a donation, go to www.Omaze.com “Deadpool 2″ opens May 16.

★ A man who threw a banana peel at Dave Chappelle during a 2015 performance in Santa Fe, N.M., is suing the comedian and a man presumed to be his bodyguard. Christian Englander’s lawsuit contends the bodyguard struck Englander twice as he was being restrained. Englander, who is white, has said he had no racial motivation when he threw the banana peel at Chappelle, who is black, but was angered by something Chappelle said during the show.

★ Star Wars fans want Meryl Streep to replace Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Fisher died in 2016 after completing the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”, and devotees now fear her character will be killed off in the next sequel, “Episode IX”. But one fan has launched a petition to encourage filmmakers to replace Fisher – and he wants Streep to take over as Leia. About 10,000 people have signed the online petition.

★ John Krasinski has said it in the past. And now he’s been told. Being married to Emily Blunt, Krasinski says he’s very much aware that he’s punching above his weight. But it really registered with him when he had an unpleasant encounter with a British customs agent recently, who didn’t believe that he is married to Blunt. Krasinski told Jimmy Fallon that he “Married up, and don’t I know it.” When the audience cheered, he said, “They don’t have to tell me; the customs agent in London did.”

★ Shannen Doherty is “staying positive” after receiving less-than-favorable test results. The former “Beverly Hills 90210″ star, who is in remission after battling breast cancer, shared her most recent round of test results this week. She captioned a selfie on Instagram: “Test and results. One tumor marker test came back good. Other… elevated. Just means I get monitored and another test.”

★ The creators of ‘Stranger Things’, Matt and Ross Duffer, are being accused of stealing the idea for the hit Netflix series from the 2012 short film ‘Montauk’ by Charlie Kessler. Kessler has filed a lawsuit against the writing duo, citing the original title of the show, which matches that of his project, as evidence of idea theft.
(Strange. But I’ve seen stranger things!)

ASSUME THE POSITION:
I’m sure you have an idea of what your dream job might be. Me? It had to do with beer and a bathtub…until now. Netflix is offering up an ‘Editorial Analyst’ job where you could get paid to binge watch TV shows. The job listing asks if you “love movies and TV shows”. If so, perhaps you’d be interested in “sharing unique content with viewers around the world?” They say they are “seeking an entertainment-savvy analyst to help categorize television series, specials, and movies for our 100+ million users.” Qualifications include being “passionate about movies and TV with a deep knowledge of the entertainment industry.” Check!
Here are the responsibilities:
• Watch, research, rate, tag, annotate and write analysis for movie and TV content
• Quality assurance review of content metadata
• Timely and efficient completion of all projects
If that sounds like you (just as soon as you look up the word ‘metadata’), be aware of this: “Proficiency in a second language beyond English is mandatory.”
(Missed it by THAT much!)
(The problem is that you’ll head back into work on Monday, and feel like you never had a weekend!)
(Nothing in there about “and chill”?)

PASS THE PASTA:
From the ‘department of unbelievable’ comes this: Eating pasta has been linked to weight loss in a new study. It all comes down to pasta’s low glycemic index (GI), according to researchers in Toronto. They investigated the supposed link between pasta and weight gain, as compared to other starchy foods such as white rice, white bread and potatoes. Study participants who ate pasta instead of other forms of carbohydrate lost about a half-kilo on average over 12 weeks. Not a lot, but better than gaining weight, which is what you might have expected. One dietitian said that the reason why carbohydrates have a bad rep is that we tend to eat too much of them, and smother them in fat and sugar, which equate to extra calories.
(Yeah, or what’s the point?)
(I’m guessing that I’m not allowed to enjoy my spag with a loaf of white bread then, am I?)
(So my daily ritual of carb-loading before work is OK?)

UNBELIEVABLE THINGS THAT HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE ACTUALLY COVERS:
➢ Blue Ice: Yup. Blue ice is a nicer term for the chunks of frozen toilet waste that occasionally falls from airplanes. An open perils policy typically covers things that fall from the sky.
➢ Rotten Eggs: Food spoiled during a power outage is typically covered, up to about $500. (Does this include when a teenager forgets to close the fridge?)
➢ Volcanic Eruptions: Natural disasters like a volcano eruption can be covered under open perils, but some natural disasters like earthquakes need separate coverage.
➢ Headstones: If headstones get damaged by someone tipping them over, homeowners insurance covers the cost to repair or replace if you’re the primary caretaker. (Do they have to be on-site?)
➢ Deaths in Home: If a murder, suicide, or a death happens in the home, many homeowners insurance policies will pick up the cost of the cleanup. (Call it the ‘death benefit’!)
➢ Rain on a Wedding Day: If you are hosting a wedding in your backyard, and something quirky happens like a tornado or big storm, forcing the event to be relocated, homeowners insurance could pick up the cost of moving the big day’s events. (But the bride will still be apoplectic!)
➢ Stampedes: If a thundering herd of wildebeest are stirring up a cloud of dust toward your home, you’re good. Homeowners insurance will typically cover damage caused by wild animals.
(Stampedes? One, I could understand, if you have more than that, you’re just not being careful!)
(Just as I suspected. My homeowners insurance covers a million things that’ll never happen, but nothing that DOES. Just like my car warranty!)
