BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Spotting comic book legend Stan Lee in Marvel movies, TV series and video games has always been fun for fans. Now, Marvel Studios has announced plans to honor the late comic book legend by putting together a special behind-the-scenes video of every single one his movie cameos. It’s not known when the clip will be released. Lee makes a posthumous appearance in “Avengers: Endgame”, which opens in theatres today.

★ Rami Malek has been officially unveiled as the villain in the upcoming James Bond movie. The “Bohemian Rhapsody” star’s involvement was heavily speculated, and finally announced at a special event at 007 creator Ian Fleming’s Goldeneye estate in Jamaica on Thursday. Reacting from Jamaica, star Daniel Craig joked that he was “scared” by his new screen nemesis. It is expected to be Craig’s final appearance as James Bond.

★ A first-of-its-kind film festival dedicated to Keanu Reeves will take place in Glasgow, Scotland this weekend. The “KeanuCon” line-up includes “Permanent Record”, “John Wick”, “Constantine”, “My Own Private Idaho”, and “Destination Wedding”. Reeves directorial debut, “Man of Tai Chi”, will also be screened. According to the online schedule, the Wyld Stallyn, which we are thinking is a cover band of the fictional “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, will also perform at the event. (Strange things are afoot!)

★ Renee Zellweger will lead the cast of a new Netflix social thriller “WHAT/IF”, which challenges cash-strapped people to do unacceptable things for money. The 10-episode first season will debut May 24. The 10-episode first season will also feature Jane Levy, “Glee” stars Blake Jenner and Samantha Ware, Daniella Pineda, and Dave Annable.

★ James Wan is adapting Stephen King’s novel “Salem’s Lot” for the big screen. It was previously adapted into a 1979 miniseries starring David Soul, and Rob Lowe starred in a more recent adaptation in 2004. King’s stories are proving to be very popular in Hollywood once again with a new version of “Pet Sematary” just released in theaters.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Childish Gambino — has shared a new song called “Algorythm” in a new augmented reality app. The app uses the game platform Unity to allow multiple players to explore a tropical world, where they can unlock the new track. The Android version of the app is now available to download, while an iOS version is expected to be released soon. Both versions will be free.
• Iggy Azalea — has been forced to re-record some vocals for her new album “In My Defense” after her hard drive crashed. She says that although she didn’t lose any entire songs, she wasn’t able to retrieve certain files from her drive when it broke beyond repair last week.
• Eminem – ‘Stan’ has officially been added to Merriam-Webster dictionary as both a noun and a verb.  He introduced the world to the term in his 2000 hit of the same name. A “stan” is defined as “an extremely or excessively enthusiastic and devoted fan.
• Gord Downie – The late Tragically Hip singer will have a train car named after him. Farley Mowat, John McCrae, Lord Stanley, and Louis Riel are some other notable names that will be attached to the new O-Train Confederation transit line in Ottawa, ON. Youth aged 16 and under were invited submit names for the 40 train cars.
• Sting – has announced a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in 2020. The run of 16 shows are titled “My Songs”. That’s also the title of his upcoming album, which will feature the former Police frontman re-imagining tracks from throughout his career.
• Diplo – the electronic music producer will use his birth name, Thomas Wesley Pentz, to release country music. The first taste of an album called “Thomas Wesley” arrived Wednesday in the form of a collaboration with Cam entitled ‘So Long.’ Several more collaborations with country artists are on the way. Diplo plays the Stagecoach festival this Sunday.
• Miranda Lambert – Her MuttNation Foundation will put paws on the pavement at 2019 CMA Fest, with Lambert leading an official “Mutt March” on June 6.  The event is in celebration of MuttNation’s 10th anniversary. Register at MuttNation.com.

• “The White Crow” (R-Rated, Drama):  Inspired by the book “Rudolf Nureyev: The Life” by Julie Kavanaugh. An iconic dancer defects from the Soviet Union to the West in 1961, despite KGB efforts to stop him. (Oleg Ivenko, Ralph Fiennes)
• “J.T. LeRoy” (R-Rated, Drama):  A young woman named Savannah Knoop spends six years pretending to be the celebrated author JT LeRoy, the made-up literary persona of her sister-in-law. (Kristen Stewart, Diane Kruger, Laura Dern)

ICE, ICE BURGER:
It might be the weirdest idea that you’ve ever heard of, but if you are firing up the barbecue this weekend, give it a shot. According to “MasterChef” judge Graham Elliot, you can make a perfect burger at home, and it’s a lot easier than you might think. He says they key to grilling an excellent juicy hamburger is to put an ice cube in the middle of the patty, fold the meat around it, and then grill it. That way, the ice keeps the patty moist so it doesn’t dry out. Bizarre, but don’t knock it until you try it.  Another tip to avoid dry patties:  Don’t bite into your meat right away. If you let it sit for five minutes after taking it off the grill, the juices that have pooled in the center of your burger will reabsorb into the rest of the meat.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A Canadian woman has been fighting a 10-year-long court battle for her right to ride escalators without holding the handrail. In 2009, Bela Kosoian was riding an escalator at a subway station in Laval, PQ when a police officer told her to respect a pictogram on the escalator that said “Caution, hold the handrail”. When she refused to obey, she ended up with a $100 ticket for refusing to hold the rail and another $320 for failing to identify herself. After being acquitted in court, she filed her own lawsuit against the city, arguing that she was not obligated to hold the handrail. She has so far lost twice in Quebec courts, but the case was heard by the Supreme Court of Canada last week.  A decision is not expected for six months.

➢ North Carolina State Legislators have introduced a bill that would require hybrid and electric vehicle owners to pay an extra annual fee to offset the gas taxes they aren’t paying since their vehicles don’t use as much gas a traditional vehicle. If passed, electric owners would be required to pay almost twice what they already pay in annual registration fees (currently $130 per year). In addition, hybrid vehicle owners would also be required to pay an extra annual fee, which would start at $87.50 in 2020 and rise to $137.50 by 2022.

➢ A Florida road crew should get a failing grade for misspelling the word “school” in a pedestrian crosswalk in Doral.  Workers ended up botching their spelling assignment, painting the letters “S-C-O-H-O-L”.  A motorist noticed the error and after news reports picked up on the mistake, the city tweeted that the private contractor had corrected it.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says his company plans to roll out their own version of a ride-sharing service.  Except patrons won’t be ‘sharing’ their rides, because the company plans to use driverless cars.  Tesla’s automated rival to companies like Uber and Lyft is expected to be operational by next year.
