Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Brit actress Michelle Dockery spent 6 years as the epitome of British high society, playing ‘Lady Mary Crawley’ on “Downton Abbey”, but has now taken on an entirely different role as a drug-addicted con-artist in the upcoming TNT series “Good Behavior”. But she’s hinting that her days playing ‘Lady Mary’ may not be done. Quote: “I think there is potential for a film. That is something I would wholeheartedly consider, so we will see. It may not be over yet.” (Uncle!)
– “Daily Telegraph”
★ Billboards advertising Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas residency have reportedly been banned from two California airports for being … too provocative. She’s scheduled to return to Caesar’s Palace for her “#1 to Infinity” greatest hits show on August 24th and billboards promoting the next set of concerts show her reclining on a chaise lounge while dressed in an incredibly revealing gold outfit. The Burbank and Orange County airports in California, popular with travelers to Vegas, have now taken down the billboards. (For too much Photoshopping?)

★ And former celeb couple Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez have been having a very public war of words. Bieber recently threatened to make his Instagram private after his followers began posting ‘hateful’ comments about his rumored new girlfriend, 17-year-old model Sofia Richie (daughter of Lionel and a dead ringer for Selena). The Biebs says the haters are ‘getting out of hand’, prompting Selena to tell her ex to simply stop posting the pics. That caused Justin to respond, quote: “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.” (C,mon kids, grow up!)

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Adele – She’s confirmed she will NOT be doing the Super Bowl halftime show in the new year. Quote: “They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.” The game is set for February 5th in Houston TX. Interestingly, the NFL denies making her any offer.
• Blake Shelton – His “If I’m Honest” tops today’s new ‘Billboard Country Albums’ chart and has jumped from 9th to 4th on the new ‘Billboard 200′ all-genre chart.
• Frank Ocean – 11 days have passed since what was perceived to be the release date for his long-awaited 2nd album, “Boys Don’t Cry”. So where is it? Some say it’s coming this week; others claim it will be a November release. Reps for Ocean and Apple Music aren’t talking.
• The Game – He’s released a new track in which he claims he’s had intimate relations with all 3 of the Kardashian sisters. He’s shared the link and cover art on Instagram, with the clever caption, “All my haters … f— yo childhood pet.”
• Rihanna – Seems she is, in fact, joining the cast of the upcoming reboot of “Ocean’s Eleven”, titled “Ocean’s Ocho”. Riri is joined by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina. Production begins this October.
• “Suicide Squad: The Album” – The movie soundtrack is #1 on today’s new ‘Billboard 200′ album chart. The soundtrack features new collaborations from current artists, covers, and older songs that are heard throughout the film.

THIS WEEK’S VIDEO RELEASES:
Coming out on DVD, Netflix, Google Play and/or other video providers …
• “The Angry Birds Movie” ( PG Animated Comedy ): When an island populated by happy, flightless birds is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to ‘Red’, ‘Chuck’, and ‘Bomb’ to figure out what’s up. If an app-turned-movie seems odd, keep in mind are 2 in development about Uber (no BS!). Voice cast: Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Maya Rudolph, Charli XCX.
• Also being released: “The Affair: Season 2″ (TV); “A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits” (Musical); “Gotham: The Complete 2nd Season” (TV); “Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words” (Documentary); and “The Vampire Diaries: The Complete 7th Season” (TV).

HARD SELTZER:
A low-carb, better-tasting boozy drink? Cheers to that! The new SpikedSeltzer is touted as a booze alternative for both cocktail-haters and health-conscious drinkers. The gluten-free alternative to beer has just 5 grams of carbs, about 3 times less than a can of beer. But SpikedSeltzer still contains 6% alcohol so you can party hardy without the guilt. It comes in 4 flavors: cranberry, lime, grapefruit, and orange. Just because it’s all natural doesn’t mean you’ll get less drunk though. (You can save spending extra on this trendy drink by mixing a shot of vodka with soda water and adding a slice of lime.)

WAYS TO TREAT YOURSELF:
You can make any day a ‘Be Nice to Me’ day by trying some of the following ….
• Celebrate – Even if it’s nothing other than a typical Tuesday, declare it a special occasion with a bottle of bubbly, a fancy face mask, or that bestseller you’ve been too busy to read.
• Crank It – How long has it been since your last 3-minute, no-holds-barred dance party? It doesn’t actually matter; it’s time for another one! Pick your fave song and pump it up.
• Turn Off – Enjoy a whole day of digital detoxing from any and all tech devices. You may emerge with a whole new perspective on things.
• Throwback – Surf over to any of the Internet’s many videogame emulators and settle in to the simple, nostalgic thrill of helping a little plumber eat his mushrooms.
• Sense – Get back in touch with your senses with a spritz of scent you don’t usually wear; a fresh juicy plum; or the cool, silky softness of your favorite bed sheets.
• Reflect – Think about the last time somebody said something encouraging or flattering about you. Now think about another time, and another, and another.
• Expand – Give your brain something new to chew on. Find an instructional video online, or a book at the library, or call a friend who’s an expert on something you’d like to try.
• Splurge – Just once, take a break from being responsible. Tonight’s the night to have french fries or a milkshake, or nachos, or waffles … for dinner.
• Release – Pick one small reason you’ve been beating yourself up. Got it? Good. Now take a deep breath – inhale; exhale – and let it go.
• Play – Crossword puzzles, modeling clay, glitter, bubbles, poker … it really doesn’t matter. Give yourself license to play for no other reason than that it’s fun.

LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!
Science confirms what we already know … people who post gym pics on Facebook are massively into themselves. A new study by Brunel University London has shown that people who post about their diet, exercise, and accomplishments are ‘typically narcissists’. It’s suggested that they’re motivated by need for attention and validation. That’s the conclusion of psychologists who collected data from hundreds of users to examine personality traits and motives behind status updates. It seems narcissists’ bragging pays off because they receive more ‘likes’ and comments about their updates, but it could be that their Facebook friends politely offer support while secretly disliking such egotistical displays. (If you go to the gym and don’t take a selfie, did you even really go to the gym?)

ACTUAL CROWDFUNDING REQUESTS THAT ARE REMARKABLY RIDICULOUS:
• Caffeinated Toothpaste – ‘Power Energy Toothpaste’ promises a “rush while you brush” first thing in the morning.
• Boob Job – A teen girl wants you to help cure her “insecurities” and “feel alive again” by crowdfunding … breast enlargement.
• “Emoji Dick” – Fred Beneson decided he wanted to translate the entirety of the novel “Moby Dick” into an emoji book. He succeeded and had it published.
• Lunch – With $20 raised (double his goal), a hungry man was able to buy a 40-piece Chicken McNugget meal.
• Joke – Comedian Kurt Braunohler crowdfunded over $6,000 to have a sky-writer scrawl the message “How do I land?” in the skies above Los Angeles CA.
• “Drunk O’Clock News” – The founders of this Kickstarter drive pledged to make a twice-weekly news show where all the reporters delivered the news … drunk as skunks.
• Paisley Park – A Prince super-fan hoped to raise $470 million to buy his estate and save his “most valuable treasures”. Unfortunately, he raised only … $100.

ARE LEFTIES REALLY MORE CREATIVE?
We associate left-handedness with intelligence, out-of-the-box thinking, and artistic talent. But are these flattering generalizations backed up by science? The answer to that is a definitive … maybe. Some studies have found a link between left-handedness and creativity, because lefties constantly have to adjust to a right-handed world. Other studies find no link at all. But it may be unimportant. New research suggests very few of us are truly left- or right-handed; it’s more of a spectrum. We use our left hand for some tasks and right hand for others. Experiments have found that people in the middle of the spectrum (‘inconsistent-handed people’ as researchers call them) are more flexible thinkers, more empathetic, and better able to view other people’s perspectives. (Try going to a sports store and asking for an inconsistent-handed ball glove.)
