BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Sources connected with Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon say the show biz couple separated back in May, are living apart in separate NYC homes, and have been negotiating a property settlement and custody agreement for months. Word has it he sees the kids but that’s the extent of their contact. In other words, their divorce is ‘a done deal’. What happened? Nick naming 5 celebs he’d slept with on Big Boy’s radio show in March was apparently the beginning (Kim Kardashian?); and then Nick went on Howard Stern’s show and talked about Mariah not giving it up before they got married. She went nuclear, we’re told.

★ Robin Williams’ Napa Valley property is still for sale after his tragic death. He first tried to sell the 640-acre California property he called Villa Sorriso (‘Villa of Smiles’) in 2012 for $35 million, but found no takers. He re-listed it for $29.9 million just months before his passing. The breathtaking villa in the Mayacamas Mountains features a 65-foot infinity pool, an oak-paneled library, home theater, climate-controlled storage for art & wine, and a private tower with a bridge. Williams was found dead in his Tiburon home near San Francisco on August 11th.

★ Former boy-band singer and reality TV star Nick Lachey is heading back to the small-screen for a new series with his brother and former 98 Degrees band-mate, Drew Lachey. The 2015 A&E reality show “Lachey’s Bar” will follow the siblings as they attempt to open and run a pub in their hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio despite their lack of knowledge about the business. Neither brother is a stranger to reality TV: Drew was crowned “Dancing With the Stars” champ in 2006, while Nick has hosted “The Sing-Off” and most notably starred alongside then-wife Jessica Simpson in “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” 2003-05.

IT’S ALL ABOUT ME, ME, ME!
Millennials really are ‘Generation Me’ … at least according to one survey. A new Reason-Rupe poll has found that 71% of respondents think the term ‘selfish’ perfectly describes the 18 to 29-year-old crowd. 65% of respondents say the word ‘entitled’ is also an apt description. Despite their self-centered reputation, 55% say that Millennials are ‘responsible’. They are also seen as ‘tolerant’ and ‘hard-working’, particularly by under-30 participants judging their peers. (Ever notice how easily ‘selfish’ becomes ‘selfie’?)

EAT IT OR WEAR IT?
Kale for your nails? The leafy green superfood is creeping out of salads and juicers and making its way into the beauty aisle where it can now be found in creams and other products thanks to its antioxidant properties. Kale hasn’t displaced other botanicals, which remain a small segment of the multibillion-dollar beauty industry. There’s a wide range of plant life and consumables in beauty products, and now kale is joining them in face masks, skin-brightening serums, creams, and nail polish; pushed along by the march to healthier living and the frenzy to fend off aging. Observers say it’s not unusual that kale is so popular. History has shown that it’s quite common for food trends to trickle into beauty care products. And kale offers the advantages of being organic, vegetarian, and  … cruelty-free. (Unless you’re a mama kale that just lost her babies!)

QUIT FOR YOUR CHILDREN … AND YOUR GRANDCHILDREN:
The effects of smoking during one’s pregnancy can span generations, according to new research published in the “American Journal of Human Biology”. The study, carried out in the UK, has found that smoking during pregnancy has various effects on the growth of a woman’s future grandchildren. Children whose maternal grandmothers and mothers smoked during pregnancy are found to have more frequent health problems, while paternal grandmothers who smoked but whose daughters did not had healthier grand-kids. The researchers suggest these transgenerational effects from a grandmother smoking during pregnancy need to be taken into account in future smoking studies. (And who wants a grandma that smells like an ashtray?)

FORMULA FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE?
The National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia has found that people with fewer romantic partners leading up to their wedding day are happier, as are people who have 150 or more guests at their big day. In most areas of life more experience is better, but having more experience before getting married seems to be associated with lower marital quality. So it seems a big wedding celebration preceded by few romantic relationships for both the bride and the groom could be a positive sign that they will be happy together years down the road. The researchers can only speculate why this may be true. They note that marriage involves leaving behind other options, which may become more difficult with experience.
