You Really Know Your Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Gwyneth Paltrow has confirmed that the characters Pepper Potts and Tony Stark are engaged.  Her Instagram post from the set of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was captioned: ‘We’re back! #pepperony #infinitywars’.  But it was the engagement ring emoji that held the big news for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Those who know say the ring is almost a guarantee that she will be killed off in the upcoming film.
★Simon Cowell learned the hard way not to mess with Scary Spice.  Mel B threw a cup of water on Simon during ‘America’s Got Talent’, then she stormed offstage.  Why?  Cowell cracked a crude joke at her expense. After a disappointing magic act, Simon likened the routine to Mel’s wedding night – saying it had ‘not much promise or delivery’.  Mel – who is going through a divorce with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte – was outraged and split the back of her dress in the commotion.

★ Jerry Seinfeld is coming full circle.  He is returning to the beginning of his career to revamp one of his old routines for an upcoming Netflix special. The ‘Jerry Before Seinfeld’ show will feature the comedian telling jokes he wrote in 1975 at New York City’s Comic Strip and unseen footage from home videos when he was a kid.  The special, which will premiere on September 19, is part of that new deal Seinfeld signed earlier this year.  It includes another comedy special and a new series of his quirky show ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’.

★ Batman fans are fuming.  It has come out that there is a ‘Joker origin’ movie in the works BUT JARED LETO WILL NOT BE PLAYING THE TITLE ROLE!  A new, as-yet unnamed actor will be used to play the Joker in the film.  And that could be good news, considering the less-than-warm reaction to Leto’s portrayal of the role in last year’s ‘Suicide Squad’.  Nonetheless, fans on Twitter were quick to lash out at the prospect of the new film, with one saying: “A Joker origin movie goes against everything that makes the character interesting”.
(He IS supposed to be mysterious…)

★ Kristen Stewart and her girlfriend Stella Maxwell are the latest stars to express their outrage over the latest hacking incident. After a number of nude celebrity photos were leaked online, the most recent incident in a string of similar events over the last few years, Stewart and Maxwell are claiming through their lawyer “a flagrant violation of copyright laws”, insisting that their iCloud images were intended for private use only.

★ Maybe is isn’t over after all for Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield.   An insider says that Stone ”never stopped caring” for Garfield.  This comes after the two ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ stars were spotted getting close at a recent event and even reportedly left together.  Stone ended her romance with Garfield in 2015 after four years of dating, but the pair have reportedly always had a soft spot for one another.  Apparently they have spent an increasing amount of time with one another and Emma is believed to have made ”several” trips to see Garfield’s performance in the London production ‘Angels In America’.

• Ariana Grande – cancelled her Wednesday night show in Vietnam. The announcement was made just hours before she was scheduled to hit the stage at Quan Khu 7 Stadium. The only reason given was ‘health problems’.
• The Tragically Hip – the Hip documentary ‘Long Time Running’ will have its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film will be released theatrically in cinemas across Canada beginning Sept. 14th. (http://www.thehip.com/long-time-running/)
• AC/DC – former drummer Phil Rudd’s new single ‘Sun Goes Down’ will be released on September 29. His solo band has a Fall tour of Europe booked.
• Linkin Park – have revealed that they are making plans for an upcoming tribute event to their late singer, Chester Bennington.  In a message posted across their social media sites, they wrote; “We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honor Chester’s memory, and look forward to sharing details with you soon”.
• Prince  – his sound engineer has reportedly landed the rights to release his vault of unreleased music. George Boxill is said to have outbid Jay-Z’s $40 million offer and Universal’s $31 million with an eight-figure sum.
• Billy Corgan – the Smashing Pumpkins frontman has announced he will return this fall with a new solo album, ‘Ogilala’ slated for an October 14 release, coinciding with a North American Tour.
• Mariah Carey – some fans are begging her to embrace her curves and stop editing her Instagrams. Carey had posted a number of pictures to her Instagram account, presumably expecting tons of praise from her adoring fans. However, several of her six million followers pointed out that they were obviously photoshopped.
• Joe Nichols – didn’t expect to “go viral” with his recently released ‘Baby Got Back’ video.  He wasn’t even sure that the cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s iconic early ’90s rap would make his album. Now a month after its release, the clip has pulled in more than 5 million views.
• Lady Antebellum – have revealed what they binge-watch on the tour bus.  Singer Hillary Scott and her husband/drummer Chris Tyrrell are big on Will Forte’s comedy ‘The Last Man on Earth’.  While guitarist Dave Haywood also enjoys that show, he says he is a big fan of ‘Stranger Things’.

FRIENDS IN HI SCHOOL:
Did you run with the ‘in-crowd’ in high school?  If you had lots of friends at that age, chances are that you are not as happy in life as an adult.  A study from the University of Virginia says that those who had fewer friends in high school found more happiness in the long run.  Researchers found that students who had close friendships at age 15 experienced lower social anxiety, increased self-worth and fewer symptoms of depression by age 25, compared to those who had more friends in high school, but fewer close relationships.
(I only had a few very close friends in high school.  Wait.  Imaginary friends count, right?)
(Ah, high school.  The best seven years of my life!)
(I experienced both sides of the coin…because when I was in 11th grade, my dad bought a liquor store!)

MONEY ON MONEY:
With the big Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr./Conor McGregor fight set to go on Saturday night, it might be no problem for you to lay down a couple bucks and hope for a decent payoff.  But the fight is proving to be a major risk for Vegas bookmakers.  Word has it that there is a lot of nervousness amongst the oddsmakers and the people who stand to gain…or lose a LOT over the results of the fight.  While most continue to believe that Mayweather is going to be the last man standing, the way that betting is going, it could end up being one of the biggest losses in Vegas history for the sportsbooks.  One casino says they could lose as much as $3 million if McGregor pulls the upside…and others are at risk for something similar if they have to pay out to a lot of gamblers who took the long shot.
Latest odds available:  Mayweather win: 1/4  McGregor win: 3/1 Draw: 33/1
(Well, with that much cash on the line, it’s a good thing that no one in boxing has ever been accused of corruption!)
(My money is on me being too cheap to put up $100 to watch it on TV!)
