Thanks for Being a Bull Market!

BS SUBSCRIBER NOTE:
There will be no “Bull Sheet” on Monday Sept 3, the Labour Day holiday. The Bull Sheet will resume on Tuesday, September 4th.

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Mel B is headed for rehab.  The “America’s Got Talent” judge is planning to enter a British facility in the next few weeks to get help after being diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and reaching a ‘crisis point’.  She has admitted to drinking heavily following a turbulent period in her life, including the death of her father and her split and subsequent messy divorce battle with Stephen Belafonte, who she accused of being abusive.
-MSN
★ Conor McGregor is so focused on defeating Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 299 that he’s got no time to deal with the security guard he allegedly hurled a can at during a press conference. McGregor has finally agreed to sit for a deposition in the Las Vegas civil suit where a man claimed he was injured after the UFC star threw a can during a McGregor vs Nate Diaz press conference in 2016. McGregor says he’ll sit and answer questions, but no sooner than October 18, which is 12 days after his scheduled fight.
-TheBlast
★ Actor Josh Radnor has been hit with a temporary restraining order filed by his neighbours. Last year, the “How I Met Your Mother” star was sued for allegedly overstepping the boundaries of a legal agreement between the previous owner of Radnor’s house and the folks next door. The neighbour claimed Radnor removed a wall and extended some decking in 2016, breaking the terms of the agreement. Radnor has been ordered to stay seven yards away from his neighbors.
(But if you live next door, how can you stay seven ‘yards’ away?)

★ Tom Hardy has signed up for two more “Venom” movies.  Hardy has stepped into the famous black suit to portray the title character in the upcoming Marvel movie, and now he has revealed he’ll be playing Eddie Brock and his alter ego on at least two more occasions if his upcoming film is a success. The movie’s director Ruben Fleischer is keen to see Spider-Man face off against Venom in a later movie, but says there are “no heroes” in the upcoming first installment, which hits cinemas this year.

★ Ewan McGregor is starting to enjoy being away shooting on location less and less, and he would love to be able to make movies at home…literally.  When asked what his ideal next role would be, he said: ”I’d like to shoot a film in my back garden so I don’t have to go anywhere. As an actor, you do spend a lot of time away from home and that’s something that isn’t always easy to do. So, when I fantasize about doing something else, it’s always things that I could do at home.’

BS MUSIC NOTES:
Taylor Swift – Her “Reputation Tour” hit Nashville on Saturday night, and she certainly didn’t forget her roots.  Not only did she sing her 2006 debut single ‘Tim McGraw’, but she brought out the real Tim McGraw—along with his wife, Faith Hill—to sing the tune with her.
• Beyoncé – Her Atlanta concert with Jay-Z ended in chaos when a crazed fan rushed the stage and tried to chase the couple. The Carters had just finished performing on Saturday night when a man in a white jersey and black shorts ran up and tried to follow them backstage. Their back-up dancers chased down the intruder and the man never reached the couple.
Robert Plant – says that although he will never get over the 1977 death of his 5 year-old son Karac from a stomach virus, his music lets him “cry”.  The 70-year-old says he has channelled his grief into his songs.
Chris Cornell – The unveiling ceremony of a life-size bronze statue commemorating the late Soundgarden frontman in his Seattle hometown has been moved from tomorrow to October 7 due to overwhelming public response to the event. The statue will stand outside the city’s Museum Of Pop Culture.
• Slash – says that his solo band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, won’t be playing Guns N’ Roses songs at their shows in support of the upcoming album “Living the Dream”, out Sept. 21. They start a U.S. tour on Sept. 13, and with a large enough catalogue of solo material to draw from, plus the fact that “I’ve played all those songs for the last two years…I’m sort of like, ‘Okay, we don’t have to do any more Guns N’ Roses songs.’ We have enough to do.”
• Fall Out Boy — Pete Wentz says that frequently visiting Jamaica while growing up has inspired him to explore the dancehall genre. He says, “I think it would be cool to do something and see how that infected the sound.”
• Randy Houser – says he is ready to bring his rejuvenated sound to country music with his new album “Magnolia”, set for release Nov. 2.  He says that the album feels like a career reboot, as he was able to create music he feels passionate about, marking a “new era.”
Brad Paisley – paid tribute to the late Senator John McCain on Saturday during his concert in Bristow, Va., with a simple but moving gesture. After singing his 2005 hit ‘When I Get Where I’m Going’, Paisley tipped his hat to a photo of McCain, projected onto the jumbo screen behind him.

DON’T CALL HER A DIGITAL ASS.:
Amazon reports that it has updated ‘Alexa’ to be more kid-friendly.  When the feature ‘FreeTime’ is activated, the voice assistant will answer certain questions differently – like telling kids to ask a grownup about where babies come from – and she will avoid playing songs containing curse words.  Amazon says it worked with child psychologists for some of Alexa’s answers, and that they work to make sure that the digital assistant is “always getting smarter”.
(What if a kid asks the dreaded Santa Claus question?)
(Of course, there isn’t a kid over 3 years old who won’t know how to turn that feature off!)
(Oh, well.  They can always ask Siri!)

NOT SO SUPERFOOD:
One product that no one has been able to escape in the last few years is coconut oil.  It has been called a ‘miracle’ product in the media and by experts, and has been praised for its uses both as a superfood and as a beauty product.  But hold on a minute.  Now a Harvard University professor says that coconut oil is “one of the worst foods you can eat”.  During a speech entitled ‘Coconut Oil and other Nutritional Errors’, Dr Karin Michels warned against its use, referring to it as “pure poison”.  Dr Michels said the consumption of coconut oil and other ‘superfoods’ is unnecessary because we get enough nutrition from everyday fruit and vegetables.  Coconut oil is about 86% saturated fat, which is roughly one-third more saturated fat than butter.  Diets high in saturated fats can be linked to heightened cholesterol, heart disease and stroke, but some claim the fats in coconut oil are healthier for us than other saturated fats.  It is still officially OK to use it as a hair treatment, skincare product or for your teeth.
(…Although I still can’t believe anybody would swish ANYTHING around in their mouth for 10 minutes…except maybe Gwyneth Paltrow!)
(When it comes to uses for coconut, I’ll be like Gilligan and stick to the classics:  coconut cream pie!)
(Did you ever notice how superfoods only become a thing for about 6 months and then they discover that they are slowly killing us?)

BENEFITS OF SLEEPING WITH A FAN ON:
It keeps you cool:  You might be saying ‘Duh!’ right now, but that’s the main reason most people buy a fan.  A fan circulates air over the body, encouraging the core body temperature to drop. Fans also create breeze, which is why people use them with air conditioners.
► It saves you money:  It’s probably not news to you that air conditioning is expensive.  Fans are a lot cheaper. If you can’t afford an air conditioner, a fan is your best bet. Or, if you just want to save money and it isn’t too hot where you live, a fan will get the job done.
It creates white noise:  Some sleep with a fan is because they create a white noise, which can be soothing.  White noise can block out sudden sounds—like a barking dog or a car alarm…or even your loud teenager.  (Of course, maybe if your dog is barking or your car alarm is going off, you want to go check that out…)
It gets rid of lingering odors:  Fans really get the air moving, and that means they help get rid of any weird lingering smells that might be in your bedroom. (Or you could just take those dirty dishes to the dishwasher…)
It helps you sleep better:  Overall, fans can improve your sleep environment by making a room cooler, more ventilated, and a little bit quieter. If you’re too hot, you won’t be able to get the right amount of sleep.  Same thing if you keep waking up from noises or smells. So, at the end of the day, a fan can really help you if you struggle with restless sleep.
(I’m a fan fanatic!)
(I’m still stuck on those ‘lingering odors’ that we are now blowing out of the bedroom and down the hallway!)
(‘Air conditioner’.  Did you ever stop to think about what a silly name that is for something that simply makes things cooler?

✓ Good for your heart – Grapes are loaded with antioxidants. Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant, is believed to be the key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and increases the good kind of cholesterol – HDL.
✓ Cancer – Evidence suggests drinking dark red wine may also reduce the risk of colon, lung and prostate cancer. Drinking one glass of wine three to four times a week may help starve “nascent cancer cells.” Some believe resveratrol attacks cancerous cells and “inhibits their ability to function.”
✓ Brain Power – Resveratrol may also help keep your memory sharp-as-a-whistle.
✓ Colds – Red wine may help keep the common cold at bay.
✓ Red wine may help prevent tooth decay.
✓ Resveratrol testing on animals suggests the antioxidant may also help protect against obesity and diabetes. The skin of red grapes may help regulate blood sugar.
(Never mind the wine…get me a bottle of resveratrol!)
