Here’s More Bull Roar!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Aniston is not on Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat. And in the new issue of Elle magazine, she reveals why she has not, and will not, join social media.  Aniston says, “The one thing I have is maintaining this little circle of sanctity that’s my own. If I’m sitting here posting something about my dogs or I’m Boomeranging my coffee mug in the morning, that’s just giving away one more piece of something that is mine.”
(And then she finished her interview with the worldwide publication and went outside to shoot publicity shots…)

★ Sarah Hyland has always been open about her health issues but it turns out there was more to her kidney problems than she ever let her fans know. The “Modern Family” star has revealed that she underwent a second kidney transplant after the first one proved unsuccessful. After her body rejected the kidney donated to her by her father seven years ago, she had a second surgery in September 2017, when her brother donated his kidney. Hyland says she’s now “stable” and “super happy with life.”
-TheBlast, CNN
★ John Cena has apologized to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for criticizing his career switch from WWE to Hollywood. Cena has followed the examples of Johnson and Dave Bautista by swapping the wrestling ring for the big screen, and he has admitted he feels a little hypocritical about his previous comments. Cena says that he and The Rock “have a very good rapport with each other and…I’ve told this to him…I spoke out of ignorance, I was wrong, and I’m sorry.” Cena also said that he owes a lot of what he has done both in the ring and in cinema to Dwayne Johnson.

★ “The Ring” star Daveigh Chase has been officially charged for possession of a controlled substance and a judge has issued a warrant for her arrest. On November 6, Chase was hit with two misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beyoncé — Over the weekend, she performed a private concert in India for guests of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s wedding. Ambani is the daughter of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, who’s held the title of the wealthiest man in India since 2008.
• Miley Cyrus – says her Mom is responsible for her starting to smoke weed again.  Earlier this year, Cyrus revealed that she decided to quit getting high while she was focusing on some important projects, but she recently confirmed that she and her mother Tish “toke a little”. She points out that she still doesn’t “toke when I work.”
• Spice Girls — Mel B has been left with three broken ribs and a “severed right hand” after a mysterious accident. She took to Instagram to inform fans, sharing a picture of herself with her arm in a sling.  She did not, however, reveal any details about how she suffered the injuries.
• Dean Martin – His daughter Deana is sticking by her pledge to continue performing ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ despite the controversy over the song’s lyrics.  The 70-year-old, whose father Dean famously performed the song, said, “I know my dad would be going insane right now.  He would say, ‘What’s the matter with you? Get over it. It’s just a fun song.”
• Vince Neil – The former Motley Crue singer could soon be without a lawyer to defend him in his assault lawsuit because his current legal team is tired of waiting to be paid the nearly $190k they claim Neil owes them. The lawsuit was filed in 2016 by a woman who claims she approached him for an autograph but he responded by grabbing her hair and dragging her to the ground.
• AC/DC – Guitarist Angus Young is the latest rock star to get his own series of Funko Pop! Figurines.  The Angus dolls will be available in three separate combinations of hats and schoolboy outfits when they hit stores in January.
• Dustin Lynch – says that Luke Bryan once gave him a shotgun as a parting gift after a tour together.  But, despite having it for three years, he still hasn’t touched it.  Lynch says, “It’s too nice to open…I need a special day to open it up and take it out.”
• Craig Wayne Boyd — will be celebrating a birthday on Dec. 31, and although it’s technically his 40th, he doesn’t count birthdays anymore.  Why? He says: “Just about three years ago, my daughter was born, and she stole my birthday. So I think I’m probably just gonna stay 37 forever, right?”

BRANCHING OUT:
They won’t be ready for this holiday season, but Dalhousie University professor Raj Lada is trying to make Charlie Brown Christmas trees a thing of the past.  He is director of the Christmas Tree Research Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia, which is dedicated to developing the “perfect” Christmas tree. Their SMART Balsam fir trees grow to be perfectly shaped, fragrant, and able to keep their blue-green needles for up to three months.  After years of development, large-scale planting will start next year, with the SMART trees expected to be available to the public in four years.  The centre has also developed and licensed needle-loss prevention agents, which are applied with water.  Lada says that needle loss, especially during transportation, is an industry-wide challenge, and the SMART tree could be critical to the survival of the multimillion-dollar Christmas tree industry in Atlantic Canada.
(When I first heard “SMART” tree, I was SURE you were going to tell me that some idiot had connected a Christmas tree to the internet!)
(I’m pretty sure that “needle-loss” only threatens two industries:  Christmas trees and Tattoo parlors!)
(To me, the ‘perfect’ Christmas tree also comes delivered, pre-decorated…and with presents underneath!)

BOND. JAMESSSSH BOND:

Martini-loving spy James Bond has a severe drinking problem and should seek help, according to researchers who have published a paper titled “License to Swill.”  According to their report, during his six decades on screen, 007 has enjoyed a total of 109 drinks, an average of 4.5 per movie.  Bond’s biggest binge was in 2008’s “Quantum of Solace,” where he downed six of his signature Vesper Martinis.  The authors write that “There is strong and consistent evidence that James Bond has a chronic alcohol consumption problem at the ‘severe’ end of the spectrum.”  They also report that when he drinks, the suave spy engages in risky behavior like car chases, brawls, high stakes gambling – and having sex with enemies.  Oh, and he has also been known to operate complex machinery…like nuclear technology…after drinking.  The authors suggest that Bond’s workplace, MI6, should become “a responsible employer” and offer support services to the secret agent, and perhaps “change its own workplace drinking culture.”  The article won first prize in the Medical Journal of Australia’s Christmas competition, where researchers submit quirky studies.
(Just 109 drinks in 56 years?  Doesn’t sound like a problem.)
(Never say “Shaken, not stirred” Again?)

THINGS SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE ARE DOING THAT YOU PROBABLY AREN’T:
✗ Focus on Wins, Accept the Fails:  Successful people are all about winning. But with winning also comes failing, and if you can’t accept fails along with your wins, it just won’t work out. (I’ve accepted my fails.  Now could I start the ‘winning’ part?)
✗ Just Go for It:  The difference between people who ‘make it’ and those who don’t is that the people who ‘made it’ took action. They stopped reading, they stopped procrastinating, and they just went for it.
✗ Work Every Day (No Full Days Off):  Whether it’s a vacation, a holiday, or a birthday, successful people are always doing something, and so should you! Of course, sometimes you need to relax, but you should still do some work every single day. (Your spouse is gonna love THIS!)
✗ Surround Yourself with Beneficial People:  There is truth in the saying: “You are the Average of the 5 People You Spend the Most Time With”.   Winners notice traits in people that they’d like to acquire (a skill, a mindset, etc.) and do their best to connect and surround themselves with those types of people.  (This does not say good things about my friends…)
✗ Learn to Just Say “No”:  Successful people are busy, but if they aren’t doing things for themselves and for their goals, what’s the point? Learn to say no, and free up more time to get things done that will actually make a difference to your own life.
✗ Plan the Day Ahead:  Writing a “To-Do Tomorrow List” is a great way to collect your thoughts at the end of the day and write down everything you need to get done the next day. It’s way more effective than trying to think of what to do on the day you need to get it done. (Or the day AFTER…)
✗ Learn to Laugh at Everything:  Learning to laugh at your own fails is a great way to overcome embarrassment.  Both Walt Disney and Albert Einstein were laughed at when they talked about their ambitions. They failed, and while everyone was ridiculing them, they just laughed it off and tried again. (And now Disney sells you a bottle of water for 5 bucks…and they’re laughing at YOU!)
(One more thing…successful people are cashing huge checks, which I’m definitely NOT!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Each December, Queen Elizabeth gives each member of her 550-person staff a gift or book voucher, each loaded with a dollar amount that varies depending on how long they have worked in her service. She also gives them around 1,500 Christmas puddings to share between them.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Fresh Breath Day”, if you’re average, you have over 10 billion bacteria in your mouth right now. Some of them churn out truly stinky chemicals such as hydrogen sulphide, the same gas that gives rotten eggs their odor. Some germs release putrescine, another sulfurous compound that has the essence of rotting meat. (***Ask listeners for old folk remedies for bad breath, like chewing cloves or scraping your tongue with a spoon.***)

• “Gingerbread House Day”, time to get at it if you want one in time for the holidays. Also known as “Eat Yourself Out of House and Home Day”.

• “Poinsettia Day”, honoring Dr Joel Roberts Poinsett (1799-1851), the US diplomat to Mexico who introduced the plant to the U.S. in 1825. Now a favorite decoration for the holiday season, about 60 million are grown in North America each year. Although proper pronunciation of the word DOES include the ‘e’ sound prior to the last syllable (poin-SET-ee-uh), many dictionaries now also accept the more commonly used ‘poin-SETTA’ pronunciation. (***see ‘U-Pick Trivia’ below***)

• “National Ambrosia Day”, the mythical “food of the gods,” is a heavenly treat for we mortals at any time of the year. This cool and creamy citrus fruit salad is a light and tasty side dish or dessert.

• “National Ding-a-Ling Day”, you should brace yourself for bizarre and crazy behavior from all of the people you encounter today. Even normally conservative people have been known to go a little crazy on this day.
