Sheet Happens!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Matt Lauer just won’t go away. Following reports that the disgraced “Today” host is planning on making a TV comeback, insiders now claim he is working on a tell-all memoir about his scandal. Sources say that Lauer’s new book will explore his behind-the-scenes fights with Megyn Kelly and Ann Curry. It will also talk about his marriage to Annette Roque and document his exit from Today.

★ It looks like there’s a possibility that Lizzie McGuire will be returning. Hilary Duff, aka the non-animated version of Lizzie, let the news slip about a possible revival, saying: “There’s been some conversations…It’s definitely not a go (yet). I don’t want to get everyone wild talking about it.” But Duff is excited about the possibility, going on to say: “I think she was so important to girls at an important time in their life. If she could be important to them again at this age, I think that would be amazing.”

★ Candace Cameron Bure found herself in the emergency room on Thursday after a go-karting accident during a family reunion. The “Fuller House” star shared a video from the hospital, laughing and saying: “Our fun family day ended up with me in the emergency room. Got into a go-karting accident. My brother ran me over.” Cameron Bure breathed a sigh of relief when she discovered that her hand was badly bruised, but not broken. After returning home, she was quick to point out that she won the go-kart race.

★ Tyler Perry definitely has the Christmas spirit.  Walmart has confirmed that Perry paid off $432,635 worth of strangers’ layaway items at two Atlanta area locations, tweeting: “Anonymous or not, we hope you know that you just made Christmas for so many families. You went above and beyond.” As Perry explained, he paid off the bills for all items under layaway before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, and anyone who has an item on hold can pick up their merchandise and not pay a penny.

★ Julie Chen’s seat on “The Talk” is officially no longer hers.  After two months of guest hosts, CBS has tapped Carrie Ann Inaba to permanently fill the opening. Inaba, who’s sat on the “Dancing With the Stars” judging panel since the show’s inception in 2005, will reportedly start on “The Talk” in January. Chen left “The Talk” in September, two months after multiple women accused her husband, CBS’ then-chairman and CEO Les Moonves, of sexual harassment, misconduct and assault.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Camila Cabello – although she is nominated for two Grammys herself, she is just as thrilled for fellow nominee and dear friend Shawn Mendes, who is competing against her in the Best Pop Vocal Album category.  She says: “I love Shawn. If he wins, it’ll be like if I win.”
• Chance the Rapper — is taking a ”sabbatical” to study the Bible so he can be a more ”educated” uncle to his new nephew. He recently donated $1 million of touring revenue to public schools in his hometown of Chicago to help give children a ”quality learning experience”.
• Meghan Trainor – Her mom blocked all negative Twitter comments against her daughter so the pop superstar doesn’t see them  Meghan says: ”I didn’t even know my mum was doing it, but from the beginning of my career…she ‘muted’ the mean comments so I never could see them. You can’t affect me ’cause my mum will get to you first!”
• Mick Jagger – The 75-year-old has split from 23-year-old film producer Noor Alfallah.   Noor is said to be dating 57-year-old billionaire Nicolas Berggruen, who bears a striking resemblance to the Rolling Stones legend.
• Def Leppard – Drummer Rick Allen has taken to Twitter to set the record straight on the infamous intro to their hit ‘Rock of Ages’.  A slightly accented voice is heard saying “Gunter gleiben glauchen globen.” Allen wrote “It was actually (producer) Mutt Lange who came up with that. He was getting so tired of saying “1,2,3,4” whenever we counted in. He wanted to inject a bit of humor in there.” The words are said to be gibberish.
• Guns N’ Roses — are among the classic rockers nominated for Grammys, sort of.  Their massive Locked N’ Loaded edition of “Appetite for Destruction” is up for Best Boxed or Special Limited-Edition Package, with the nod going to the art directors. Chris Cornell earned a Best Rock Performance nod for ‘When Bad Does Good’.
• Dixie Chicks — Natalie Maines is in a battle with her estranged husband Adrian Pasdar over a prenup he “does not recall” drafting. While the actor initially challenged the prenup, he now agrees “that he and Natalie signed a valid enforceable agreement at that time.” The fight now is about spousal support, which neither side is to receive, according to the document.
• George Strait — dropped his intoxicating new song, ‘Código’, on Friday.  The title references the tequila brand that he co-owns.  He is currently working on new music that’s slated to be released in 2019.

DISHIN’ ON THE DISHES:
From the Department of the Unbelievable, scientists are telling us that washing dishes can be a great stress reliever.  But you have to do it “mindfully”.  A study which looked into how mundane activities could be used to promote an overall sense of well-being found that when test subjects washed dishes mindfully (that involved focusing on smelling the soap, feeling the water temperature and touching the dishes), they upped their feelings of inspiration by 25% and lowered their nervousness levels by 27%.  More studies are needed, but researchers say that mindfulness could be achieved in a variety of common activities, which also could reduce stress and improve psychological well-being.  So fill up that sink, and get washing those dishes before someone beats you to it!
(Can I run the dishwasher ‘mindfully’?)
(This information brought to you by M.A.D.E., Mothers Against Dudes Enjoying themselves…)
(Because it’s so easy to wash dishes ‘mindfully’ when you have 13 minutes to do the dishes, vacuum the living room, cook a meal, pick up the kids and bathe the dog because he rolled in poo and the boss is coming over for dinner!)

I’LL NEVER TELL:
Do you have a secret?  Chances are you do.  A study shows that if you are average, you have about 13 secrets brewing in in that head of yours, five of which you’ll never tell…to anyone.  And according to researchers, it isn’t the number of secrets you keep that’s significant. it’s the burden of those secrets — they weigh on you, literally.  The study by Columbia Business School found that while your secrets might feel like a mental weight, test subjects “actually acted as if they were burdened by physical weight.” This occurred even when the subject wasn’t hiding a particular secret at that moment.  How does harboring a secret like your deeply hidden desire to own every kind of My Little Pony merchandise ever created affect your life?  Science shows that those who suppress an important secret estimate hills to be steeper, perceive distances to be farther, feel that physical tasks require more effort, and are likely to help others with physical tasks.  In short, if you’ve got secrets, they contribute to your having a negative outlook on the world.
(Fine.  But I still think it best if I don’t share mine…)
(That would explain why my oversharing neighbour Alice is always so darn positive…)
(A secret is like a physical weight?  Is that why they call it “baggage”?)

THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES OF ALL-TIME:
1. A Christmas Story — It’s got something for everyone, and you can catch any scene and still enjoy it.  (Plus, the tongue stuck to the flagpole scene!)
2. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (1966):  The original animated TV special captures essence of the holiday in the forgiving spirit of little Cindy Lou Who.
(And the awesome song ‘You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch’)
3.  Miracle on 34th Street:  The 1994 remake is good, but for legit Christmas movie magic, check out the 1947 original, starring a young Natalie Wood.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas:  One of the best Christmas movies has a little bit of Halloween in it.   The stop-motion animation looks charming and eccentric while the songs make you tap your foot and sing along. And (spoiler-alert!) Santa ends up safe and sound too!
5. It’s a Wonderful Life:  What happens when an angel shows you an alternate timeline of events? In Jimmy Stewart’s case, it brings happiness for all. Have a hankie handy.
6. White Christmas:  The plot of this 1950s classic concerns army vets who sing and dance.  Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye fall for sisters at a remote lodge that desperately needs some snowfall, and a show!
7. Home Alone:  John Hughes hit all the right notes in this Christmas movie hit that dramatizes every parent’s worst nightmare and every kid’s best fantasy. (And if you have kids of a certain age, you’ve worn this out on 3 different video-tapes, 2 DVDs and a few Wi-Fi routers!)
8. Meet Me in St. Louis:   Judy Garland’s iconic rendition of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ alone puts this onto any list of best Christmas movies.
9. Elf:  It offers the kind of feel-good hilarity the whole family can enjoy. Prepare for tender moments interspersed with Ferrell’s brand of madcap comedy. And in the end, the Christmas spirit prevails.  (Quick!  Watch it before they ban it because it includes a rendition of ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’!)
10. The Family Stone:  A family dramedy about going home for the holidays. Get ready for slapstick comedy mixed with tragic heartbreak.  (Don’t need to see it…I live it every Christmas…)
(FYI, Bruce Willis has gone on record saying that “Die Hard” is NOT a Christmas movie!)
