BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ On “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday night, which also happened to be February 22, 2022, or 2/22/22, Kimmel surprised a couple in the audience who are both obsessed with, you guessed it, the number 2. The couple, named Tu and Thu, got engaged on February 2 of last year, and were planning to tie the knot at an Orange County courthouse on Tuesday. Kimmel threw them a “2”-themed wedding, which took place live in front of the audience. In a Las Vegas-style wedding chapel, which was built on-set, Kimmel officiated the wedding, beginning the ceremony by saying: “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here on Taco Tuesday to join Tu and Thu, I mean Thu and Tu, I don’t know which is which, in holy matrimony…” Want more? Kimmel continued: “Do you two Tus take to another to be your lawfully wedded spouses, to have and to hold, together, two-day, two-morrow, and in perpe-two-ity? Say ‘We two.'”

★ The biggest addition for this year’s Oscar race is the new ‘Fan Favorite’ category, which allows fans to share their own votes for their Best Picture picks. One film appears to be emerging as a frontrunner, and it’s a surprising one: “Cinderella”, the Camila Cabello-starring musical that debuted on Prime Video last year. Cabello’s Cinderella is currently leading the race in this new category, which allows fans to cast up to 20 votes per day via Twitter.

★ Daytime TV is undergoing some changes. Sherri Shepherd is officially in full-time and Wendy Williams, host of the long-running “The Wendy Williams Show”, is out, at least for now. Shepherd, who’s been filling in as a rotating guest host amid Williams’s health issues, will launch her own daytime talk show, “Sherri” this fall. She’ll move into the time slots currently held by Williams’ show, with many production staffers moving over. Williams has been on extended sick leave, with Michael Rapaport, Leah Remini and Whitney Cummings among the stars who’ve filled in for TV’s long-running gossip queen.

• Britney Spears — has landed a book deal worth at least $15 million. Simon & Schuster won a bidding war for the rights to the telling of her life story, and, apparently, it’s one of the biggest checks ever cut for a memoir, behind the Obamas — who signed on with Penguin for about $60 million.
• Sum 41 and Simple Plan – have announced “Blame Canada” tour of the US. The co-headlining tour will see both bands commemorate their debut records, with Sum 41 performing “All Killer No Filler” in full and Simple Plan performing “No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls”. The first leg kicks off on April 29 in Raleigh NC.
• Guns N’ Roses — Slash says the band is aiming to release new music this summer. He told an interviewer: “I would imagine that there will be one or two songs that come out around the time that we hit the road in June.” So far this year, they’ve released 2 tines, ‘Absurd’ and ‘Hard Skool’, both reworked outtakes from 2008.
• Procol Harum — Gary Brooker, who sang the hit ballad ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, has died at 76. The pianist, who also co-wrote the band’s 1967 classic, lost his battle with cancer Saturday. He was appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s 2003 Birthday Honours, in recognition of his charitable services.
• Luke Bryan — isn’t ready to wind up his first-ever Las Vegas residency just yet. He has added 9 new dates to his headlining engagement at Resorts World Theatre. Bryan announced the extension on Monday, sharing that he was “doubling down on Vegas.” The new summer shows are June 15, 17, 18, 22, 24, and 25; August 31; and September 3 and 4. Tickets are on sale now.
• Brothers Osborne – Their first-ever NFT is truly a work of art. They worked with renowned poster artist Matthew Decker to create a physical poster and NFT available to just 10 fans. “I’m Not for Everyone” features a rattlesnake, steer skull and sandy mountains filling the 18×24 hand-embellished print. The poster/NFT combo went on sale Tuesday for $500, and quickly sold out.
• Sam Hunt — his estranged wife filed to withdraw her divorce papers just 2½ hours after making her original filing, according to ET. The 33-year-old filed for divorce on Feb. 18, citing “irreconcilable differences” and claiming Hunt was “guilty of adultery”, and revealing she is pregnant.

SHOOTING THE BULL

SMILE N’ WAVES:
It’s been 3 years in the making, but the world’s largest cruise ship is finally ready to sail, or rather, cruise. Measuring a staggering 1,188 feet (362m), Royal Caribbean’s ‘Wonder of the Seas’ will begin its maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale FL to the Caribbean on March 4. To give you an idea of its size, the 18-deck cruise ship has room for 7,000 guests and 2,300 crew members. Wonder of the Seas consists of 8 ‘neighborhoods’, one of which contains over 20,000 real plants, and its on-board features include a 10-storey zip line, the world’s “tallest slide at sea,” and a huge poolside movie screen. The 236,857-ton vessel was built in France, and was originally scheduled for delivery in 2021, but was pushed back due to delays related to the pandemic.
(It’s not like anyone has been anxiously awaiting the chance to line up for the buffet aboard a cruise ship over the past 2 years anyway…)
(It’s so big, it’s the only ship in history where you can actually live on the wrong side of the tracks…)

WORRY-INN:
A travel security expert says that if you’re staying in a hotel, you should never book a room higher than the 4th floor. In fact, you should also try not to stay anywhere below the second floor. Lloyd Figgins a travel risk expert and former soldier, says the main reason that you should stay between the second and fourth floors is the chance of fire. Those staying at a hotel are usually in an unfamiliar environment, and may not immediately know what to do should a fire alarm go off, or which way to go to find an exit. And, as he points out, fire department ladders “rarely reach above the 4th storey.” OK, fine. No higher than the 4th floor. But why should we avoid the ground floor…it sounds like it would be the safest place to be. Because that’s the one that “is targeted by burglars” most often, according to the expert.
(Why does the ladder matter? It’s not like you could open a hotel window with anything less than a grenade, anyway!)
(So, it turns out that touching the remote control isn’t the most hazardous thing about staying in a hotel?)
(Suite advice!)

WEEKEND PLANS:
Staying in is apparently the new going out! According to a new survey of adults, apparently, we don’t feel like doing anything on the weekend. 71% of us say we like it when plans are cancelled so we can just stay in. 3 in 4 of those surveyed agree there’s nothing better than having no plans for the weekend. While the large majority (69%) of the 2,000 Americans surveyed prefer to stay home on weeknights, 38% percent say they also like to be homebodies on Saturdays and Sundays. According to the OnePoll study, 80% would prefer to have a night in with friends on the weekend, rather than go out on the town. And what is the perfect night-in on a weeknight? Binge-watching TV is best (53%), followed by reading a book (32%), and going for a nice walk (30%).
(My perfect weekend evening involves a night-in, and wife’s is going out. Perfect!)
(And some of us just never get invited anywhere…)

SHORTEST CELEBRITY RELATIONSHIPS YOU PROBABLY FORGOT ABOUT:

As you’ve no doubt heard, Kanye West (“Ye”) and Julia Fox split earlier this month after a whirlwind romance that lasted, well, a month or 2. Here are some other “blink-and-you- missed-it” celeb couplings . . .
➠ Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston:  They hooked up after her breakup with Calvin Harris in June 2016. The English actor is thought to have inspired Swift’s song ‘Getaway Car’, about clinging to the nearest man to escape a relationship that was falling apart.
➠ Henry Cavill and Kaley Cuoco:  Dated for 10 days in 2013, with her later saying that the paparazzi was too intense when hanging out with ‘Superman’.
➠ Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively:  They were pictured galivanting around Europe together in 2011, but their smitten stares only lasted a few months.
➠ Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson:  Sparks apparently flew when she hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2016. And just 2 months into their very public romance, they shocked fans by announcing their engagement. They called it quits shortly thereafter.
➠ Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas:  They were the “It” couple when they dated in the summer of 2015. (At least they were together long enough for her to be in one of his videos . . .)
➠ And let’s not forget:  Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married for 72-days in 2011 . . . and Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney filed for annulment of their 2005 marriage after 4 months.
(Wow! We did it without mentioning Pam Anderson ONCE! Whoops . . .)

DID YOU KNOW?
Not only are they delicious, watermelons offer a wide array of health benefits. A new study by a team at the Illinois Institute of Technology has found that the watermelon is quite unique, as it contains various compounds that benefit multiple bodily areas, including amino acids, antioxidants, minerals, and essential vitamins. The researchers found watermelons not only offer cardiovascular benefits and improved metabolic health, they also can benefit brain health and bodyweight control. They concluded that making watermelons a regular part of one’s diet may help promote greater overall health.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Tortilla Chip Day”, saluting the 1940s invention by Rebecca Webb Carranza of L.A. Rather than tossing misshaped tortillas from an automated tortilla machine into the trash, she cut them into triangles, fried them, and sold them for a dime a bag. They were an immediate hit!
• “World Bartender Day”, to appreciate the staff at your favorite watering hole. They work hard to keep their customers happy and often aren’t paid very well. (And without them, really, how many jokes would there be?)
• “Trading Card Day”, traditionally associated with sports; baseball cards are especially popular. Cards dealing with other subjects, like Pokémon, are often considered a separate category, known as non-sports trading cards. These can include cartoons, comic book characters, television series and film stills. (Got it…got it…need it…trader…)
• “Chili Day”, observed annually on the last Thursday of February. It’s a great excuse to put together a perfect pot of spicy chili. What’s your secret ingredient?
• “Digital Learning Day”, celebrating the use of digital technology in learning and, in particular, highlighting innovative and forward-thinking uses of technology for learning in the classroom.
