Deja Moo!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ John Stamos and his fiancée, Caitlin McHugh, had $165,000 in jewelry stolen while staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Police say the thief accessed the empty room by “unknown means” and made off with several pieces of jewelry. The investigation is currently active and there is no suspect information available.

★ Marvel legend Stan Lee has reassured fans that he is “doing great’ after a short time in hospital. The co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man and the X-Men was taken to hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday night after suffering shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat, but the 95-year-old is now back at home. Lee told a TV reporter that “Now I’m home and looking for new trouble to get into! I figured out a little check-up wouldn’t be bad for me.”
★ Modern Family’s Julie Bowen and her husband, Scott Phillips, have separated. The two have been married for 13 years and are parents of 10-year-old Oliver and 8-year-old twins John and Gustav. In September 2016, Bowen joked to Us Weekly that the pair were too exhausted to get a divorce.

★ Paul Rudd, was awarded the ‘2018 Man of the Year’ award from America’s oldest collegiate theatrical organization at Harvard University on Friday night. Rudd received the Hasty Pudding honor during a black-tie event. He was celebrated in a roast that targeted his ‘dad face’ and his past as a bar mitzvah DJ. Mila Kunis was celebrated as Woman of the Year last weekend.

★ Gillian Anderson says she could be dating a woman next year. The twice-divorced actress, who came out as bisexual in 2012, is currently in a relationship with ‘The Crown’ creator Peter Morgan but says the two are only ”part long-term”. Anderson says, ”I could be with a woman next year. Part of me looks long-term.” She did say, however, that she is currently very happy in her current relationship. (So was HE…until now!)

★ A woman who was reported missing in California has been found in a rather visible place — the reality series “The Bachelor.” 22 year-old Rebekah Martinez of Fresno, California was reported missing on Nov. 18 by her mother, who told the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office that her daughter had gone to the area to work on a marijuana farm. After her photo was circulated in a story posted to Facebook, a keen-eyed viewer reported that she recognized Martinez from the TV show. Martinez has since Tweeted, “honestly the scariest thing about this story is that my efforts to conceal The Worst Drivers License Photo Of All Time have been thwarted”.

• Bruno Mars – will take one last victory lap for his Grammy-sweeping ‘24K Magic’ when he hits the road for the “finale” leg of his 24K Magic World Tour, with his ‘Finesse (Remix)’ partner Cardi B along as special guest. Dates and venues are still being worked out.
• Spice Girls – Victoria Beckham has all but confirmed plans of a Spice Girls reunion by uploading several snaps of the five-some to her Instagram page. And Mel C joked that a lunch meeting of all 5 members was ‘the worst kept secret in showbiz’ and that they had to flee to Geri Hallowell’s house at the last minute when word got out that they were assembling. Apparently, they were discussing “opportunities and ideas”.
• MC Hammer – took to Twitter to pay tribute to one-time Temptations’ lead singer Dennis Edwards following his death last week. Hammer called him a ”great artist’. Edwards was one day shy of his 75th birthday.
• Neil Young – He and Willie Nelson will be taking turns in front of the camera, along with Nelson’s sons, Lukas and Micah. All four artists star in the upcoming film ‘Paradox’, a Western saga with a future-past twist. Paradox was directed by Young’s girlfriend, actress Daryl Hannah. It will be her first full-length feature film in that role. The film will premiere at SXSW 2018 in March.

• Cole Swindell – says his third album is “right around the corner”, and he is being very selective in what he chooses to record: “I remember what it was like as a fan when you’d buy an album and only have a couple songs you liked. So I want every song to be a possible hit.”
• Luke Bryan – has some new additions to look after….alpacas! His wife Caroline showed off the new furry friends that have joined their family in an Instagram post. Along with several ponies, a pig, chickens and a handful of goats, Caroline shared a photo of their new alpacas, Pekka and Mister.

JOBSHARE:
Last week, the business social media site LinkedIn was circulating a survey asking people to anonymously reveal how much money they make. Eventually, people doing the same job would be able to compare their pay with the industry average, and determine whether they should be knocking on the boss’s door for a raise. That raises a few questions: Social media has made sharing the new normal; should salaries be any different? Should we tell our peers at work how much money we make? The experts say ‘no’. Doing so could create problems if you discover that your coworkers make more than you, causing jealousy and resentment. If you make more, the reverse could occur and your coworkers might become resentful of you. This discussion can badly damage the morale and teamwork in your workplace. You could also get in trouble with your employer, especially if he asked you not to discuss salary information. While your employer can’t fire you for discussing your salary, he could make your job unpleasant or start looking for other reasons to let you go.
(Oh. I thought when you said “Share my salary”, I’d have to give you some…)

SITTING DOWN ON THE JOB:
A Mayo clinic study shows that having the option of standing while at work may lead to more calories burned, and ultimately to potential weight loss. Researchers looked into the difference in calories burned while workers either sat or stood. They found the difference in calorie expenditure between sitting and standing was 0.15 calories per minute for men, and 0.1 for women. Doesn’t sound like much, but they figure that over the course of a year, that makes a difference of an average of 5.5 pounds of body fat, assuming all other factors remain equal.
(On the other hand, if you’re standing, it’s a lot handier to walk to the vending machine!)
(Great. Not only can I not stand my job, I also can’t stand while DOING my job!)
-ABC

POP PEACOCK:
After that woman tried to board a United Airlines flight with her ‘emotional support’ peacock last weekend, the airline has announced plans to tighten up its rules. Beginning March 1, owners will have to confirm that their animal is trained to behave in public, and they will need a vaccination form signed by a veterinarian. The airline says the number of comfort animals has jumped 75% in the last year, and there has also been a big increase in animal-related incidents.
(Where does one even GET a peacock?)
(Fine. But the same rules should apply to people!)
(I say if an animal has the word “Pee” right in its name, it is automatically not allowed on a plane!)

HI-Q:
Researchers have spent decades studying the factors that indicate that a person is intelligent…here are some simple traits which may suggest you’re a secret genius:
☞ You’re the oldest child: Those who are born first have their parents’ full attention for the first few months or years or their lives. When baby number two finally arrives, the older sibling is then put in the position of “teaching” their little brother or sister.
☞ You’re skinny: According to a French study, those with a Body Mass Index of 20 or less have better memories than those with one of 30 or higher.
☞ You’re left handed: Lefties have better memories, mental flexibility and spatial skills – according to researchers at University of Athens. They’re also “divergent thinkers” – a type of creativity that allows them to think of new ideas on a whim.
☞ You’re funny: Comedians consistently score higher on IQ tests than the average population, according to a study. A good sense of humor is also linked to creativity.
☞ You’re Tall: People who are 6-feet tall earn, on average, $158,000 more over a 30-year-old career than someone who is 5’5″. Researchers at University of Princeton think this is because taller people are smarter.
☞ You’re a Night Owl: A study from the University of Madrid found that night owls had higher IQs, earned more and led more comfortable lives than those who bounce out of bed in the mornings.
☞ You’re Shy: 60% of clever kids are introverted, according to The Gifted Development Center.
And more than 75% of people with an IQ of 160 or above are considered shy.
☞ You were breast fed: Scientists in Brazil followed 6,000 people from birth to the age of 30.
Breast-fed babies were found to be more intelligent, successful and high-earning.
☞ You’re curious: Harvard Business Review determined that curious people have more original ideas and acquire more knowledge over time.
(I was doing well until the ‘skinny’ part…)
(I figure they made this broad enough that we’ll all get about 4/9.)
(Tomorrow: the ‘Signs You’re Not So Bright’, which someone left for me in the lunchroom written out in crayon…)
