Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kevin Hart is a meme after a series of unfortunate events at Sunday’s Super Bowl, but he’s certainly not crying about it. On Monday, he posted a video to Instagram that was taken after a security guard blocked him from going on stage, a clip that went viral, after his hometown Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in the big game. Hart admitted he was “still tipsy”, while giving his funny take on the situation, but he also urged kids not to drink because they do “dumb stuff.”

★ Meghan Markle’s life changed forever when she started dating Prince Harry in the summer of 2016. While the world waits for the couple’s royal wedding this May, an inside source has revealed that the ‘Suits’ star started dating Harry before ending her relationship with ex-boyfriend Cory Vitiello. In fact, the insider says that Markle simply stopped returning texts and calls from Vitiello and that a mutual friend broke the news to him.
(Still…you definitely score bragging rights if you lose a girl to a Prince!)

★ John Stamos is officially a married man, despite a bump along the road to wedded bliss. Stamos married Caitlin McHugh on Saturday at a church in Studio City, California. The couple’s wedding weekend didn’t exactly go off as planned, though, (as we told you yesterday) McHugh’s room at the Beverly Hills Hotel was burglarized on Friday night to the tune of an estimated $165,000 worth of jewelry.
(Fuller House…but emptier hotel room!)

★ Ellen DeGeneres was feeling generous. She celebrated her 60th birthday on her show by handing out $1 million. She informed her audience that “a special surprise gift” was waiting for anyone who had a box of Cheerios under their seat — and the entire audience then discovered they had one. She then told her crowd that, “You’re all gonna share this gift. It’s the biggest gift I have ever given anybody ever, and I hope you continue to pay it forward and share all the good. Hold on to your Cheerios because all of you are splitting $1 million.”

★ Actress Octavia Spencer plans to buy out a theater in Mississippi so that families can see ‘Black Panther’. Spencer announced her plan on Instagram, saying she’d be in the state when the much-anticipated Marvel movie opens, and she wants to share the experience with the community. She wrote: “I think I will buy out a theatre in an underserved community there to ensure that all our brown children can see themselves as a superhero. I will let you know where and when Mississippi. Stay tuned.”
-Cosmopolitan
★ Uma Thurman finally broke her silence about her relationship with Harvey Weinstein in a blistering New York Times interview. Reese Witherspoon was one of the highest-profile celebrities to respond to the shocking story. Via Twitter, she said: “deeply upsetting. My heart goes out to @umathurman and all the women who have bravely told their stories about this awful predator.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake – 13 year-old “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown counts him as a friend. She said, ”We met in Australia and he asked me to go to his show … and it was probably the best performance I’ve ever seen! It’s Drake and he’s great … I have great people around me to help guide me through this, and he’s one of those people.”
• Celine Dion – shakes her late husband’s hand every night before a concert. She has a bronze replica of René Angélil’s hand that she keeps in her dressing room. She says it is a way to feel like he is still a part of her life. Angélil died in 2016.
• Taylor Swift – Although her ‘1989′ tour raked in more than $250 million in 2015, her people figure that ticket brokers made about $85 million for themselves in resales. That’s why she is using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program for the ‘Reputation’ tour.
• Spice Girls – Geri Horner (Ginger Spice) wants them to perform one of their reunion gigs at the royal wedding. She feels the group should offer to perform at the reception for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after having been told that Markle was a big fan of the Spice Girls.
• Mel B – is apparently becoming a bit of a pain on the set of ‘America’s Got Talent’, and producers are said to be looking at replacing her with Queen Latifah.
• Toby Keith – co-wrote the song ‘Sauce’ on Justin Timberlake’s new album “Man of the Woods”. What is unusual is that Keith’s name has been absent from the record label’s public relations regarding the album. In addition, neither Timberlake nor Keith has publicly acknowledged the collaboration.
• Sam Hunt – is getting ready to start working on the long-awaited follow-up to his 2014 debut, ‘Montevallo’. He says he will be recording from February through April, and hopes to have new material out before he hits the road for the summer.

THIS WEEK’S VIDEO RELEASES:
• “A Bad Moms Christmas” (R-Rated, Comedy): As their own mothers drop in unexpectedly, our three under-appreciated and over-burdened moms rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for mothers: Christmas. (Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn)
• “Only the Brave” (PG-13, Action/Drama): Based on the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of elite firefighters who risk everything to protect a town from a historic wildfire. (Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges)
• “LBJ” (R-Rated, Drama): The story of U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson from his young days in West Texas to the White House. (Jennifer Jason Leigh, Woody Harrelson, Richard Jenkins)
• “My Friend Dahmer ” (R-Rated, Drama): Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys in the Midwest United States between 1978 and 1991, before being captured and incarcerated. He would become one of America’s most infamous serial killers. This is the story before that story. (Ross Lynch, Alex Wolff, Anne Heche)

ROACHING THE SUBJECT:
If you’re stuck for an idea of what to get Bae for Valentine’s Day, this just might be your saving grace. Or not. Sure, you could go the traditional ‘roses and chocolate’ route, or you could gift your lover with a cockroach from the Bronx Zoo that you’ve specially chosen and named after them. That’s right, for $15, you can name a roach after your Valentine, and receive an official certificate of authentication. But if you REALLY want to do it up right, for $75 you can get the certificate plus a pair of roach socks, a roach pin, and (gulp) roach-shaped chocolates. Money raised will benefit the zoo’s Wildlife Conservation Society.
(On the other hand, if you’re stuck, maybe wait a bit. It’s early yet!)
(At least there’s nothing here about reservations at a roach motel….)
(“Honey, what do you mean when you say that I never fail to disappoint?”)

HAVE A COW, MAN:
If you can’t…or don’t drink milk, what’s the best substitute? A study just published in the Journal of Food Science and Technology compared the nutritional profiles of four popular “alternative” milks, and found that almond, rice and coconut “milks” all lacked essential nutrients important for overall health. Scientists McGill University in Montreal studied the nutrition labels of several unsweetened almond, soy and rice milks, plus coconut dairy-free beverages. Soy milk was found to be the most comparable to cow’s milk in terms of overall nutrient balance. It’s also the highest in protein of all the alternative milk options studied, with about 7 to 12 grams (and about 95 calories) per 8-ounce serving. Almond milk was found to be low in protein and carbohydrates, dairy-free coconut beverages have no protein, and rice milk was found to be high in calories and relatively low in beneficial nutrients. Plant-based “milks” are often marketed as wholesome and appropriate substitutes for the real thing. The researchers say that cow’s milk is still the most complete and balanced source of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
(For my money, the best substitute for milk is milk chocolate!)
(Now you know what to drink until the cows come home!)

HUGELY SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTS ORIGINALLY INVENTED FOR SOMETHING ELSE:
➢ Listerine: was invented in the 1880s as a surgical antiseptic, and also as a cure for gonorrhea (don’t try that at home). Over the years, it has also been marketed as “for sweaty feet, and soft corns developing between the toes,” and as a cure for the common cold…and dandruff.
➢ Viagra: was originally conceived as a treatment for hypertension, angina, and other symptoms of heart disease. (Then another use popped up…)
➢ Propecia: the drug used to treat male-pattern baldness, was originally marketed as Proscar, a drug to treat the benign enlargement of the prostate. After five years on the market in the 1990s, it became clear that one of the side effects was hair growth on bald men. Cha-ching! (Apparently I’ve been taking ‘Propecia–Back Formula’ for some time now!)
➢ Brandy: started off as a byproduct of transporting wine. About 900 years ago, merchants would boil the water off of large quantities of wine both to transport it more easily, and save on customs taxes, which were levied by volume. Once some of these merchants decided to taste it, voila! Brandy was born. (First example of cutting out the middle-man)
➢ Coca-Cola: was originally invented as an alternative to morphine addiction, and to treat headaches and relieve anxiety.
➢ Play-Doh: was invented in the 1930s by a soap manufacturer  who thought he’d hit upon a fantastic wallpaper cleaner. (Little did he know it would become the snack of choice among the daycare set!)
