★ The cast and crew of “Dancing with the Stars: Live! Light Up The Night” are doing OK after a massive, deadly car crash in Iowa.  Show producers released a statement saying, “One of the tour buses transporting cast and crew was involved in a multi-car accident (Monday) afternoon due to bad weather while en route to Ames, Iowa.  All cast and crew members are fine, with some recovering from minor injuries. ”  Police said that that seven people were killed on Iowa roads Monday, due to inclement weather.

★ Now that some of the secrecy around Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy has dissolved thanks to a birth announcement and an illuminating Instagram post from Jenner herself, fans have gone into detective mode to determine the last remaining piece of the Kylie’s baby puzzle: the little one’s name. Some of those fans are hedging their bets on the baby being named ‘Butterfly’ based on an abundance of Snapchat-based evidence — a tactic that did correctly predict the sex of the baby.  [***UPDATE: Kylie Jenner’s baby has a name. She shared a picture of her holding the child’s hand with “Stormi Webster” in the caption.***]

★ The man who played the dad on “Frasier” has died. John Mahoney died over the weekend in Chicago after a brief hospital stay. No cause cause of death was provided. He played Martin Crane on Frasier, a disabled ex-police officer who hung out at Frasier’s Seattle home, constantly squabbling with his two sons, played by Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce. More recently, he had a recurring role as Betty White’s love interest on “Hot in Cleveland.”  John Mahoney was 77.

★ Corey Feldman has been vindicated after a woman accused him of sexual battery over an alleged incident last year. After an investigation, the LA Attorney’s office has rejected the filing of a criminal complaint against Feldman. The complaint was filed by an unidentified woman on January 8 with the LAPD, alleging the incident occurred February 4, 2017, but no other details were given. Feldman had vehemently denied the accusations.

★ Haley Joel Osment was so mad that he missed a flight out of Las Vegas on Monday that police had to be called. Osment was initially trying to fly on Sunday night, but missed his American Airlines flight … so they put him on standby Monday morning. Emphasis on standby. According to American … Osment showed up Monday at 7 AM, but the flight was full, and he started going off — yelling and swearing in the gate agent’s face. Police were called, word is that Osment left the gate area before the officers arrived.
(Apparently the ‘sixth sense’ isn’t common sense!)

★ Every year, the Super Bowl ads are a hot topic of conversation. And every year, at least one ad offends someone. One 30 second spot this year was purchased by The Church of Scientology and as you can only imagine, the ad trying to get people to learn more about the controversial religion was not well received. Actress Leah Remini, who is the most vocal activist against Scientology, tweeted: “Yet again, Scientology spends millions of dollars to buy #SuperBowl ads. Scientology continues to behave as a profit making company rather than a tax-exempt religion. #NotCurious.’

• Bruno Mars – took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to discuss possible halftime performers for next year’s Super Bowl in Atlanta, and he’s thinking hip-hop. One tweet read: “@NFL you have the opportunity to celebrate incredible Hip Hop Artist[s] from Atlanta Next year.” He then listed a number of possible options, including Outkast and Lil Jon.
• Beyoncé – her father Matthew Knowles says that the ‘Beyhive’(the name for her fans) might not even exist if she were darker skinned than she is. Speaking about race in the music biz, he said, “When it comes to Black females, who are the people who get their music played on pop radio? Mariah Carey, Rihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids.”
• Roger Daltrey – has revealed the special guest orchestras that will be joining him in his performances of The Who’s 1969 rock opera, ‘Tommy’. The 13-date series will see Daltrey joined by some of the most prestigious orchestras in the United States, including the Boston Pops, the New York Pops and the Nashville Symphony. (By now, he’s used to hearing the word ‘Pops’!)
• Alice Cooper – was involved in a car accident on February 1. He posted a tweet hours later, saying, “Had a car accident this afternoon in Phoenix, but luckily everyone walked away UNHURT. Very thankful for that and also to Dodge for building such a sturdy Challenger!!”
• Paul Simon – has announced a run of shows leading up to his previously announced farewell performance in London July 15. ‘Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour’ will feature 20 dates across North America beginning May 16, followed by a European run in the Summer.
• Trace Adkins – will emcee ‘Guitar Legends for Heroes’, the AXS TV salute to the men and women of America’s Armed Forces. The 2018 concert event takes place this Sunday and will feature performances by Richie Sambora, Dave Navarro, Billy Gibbons, Nancy Wilson, Orianthi, Sam Moore, Lindsey Eli, Joe Don Rooney and Robert Randolph.
• Carrie Underwood – As she deals with her slow recovery following the brutal fall outside of her home in November, skeptics are wondering if the video of her Super Bowl song ‘The Champion’ which aired on Sunday was filmed before she fell.
• Sam Hunt – has announced his very own music festival. He revealed plans for ‘The Nashional’, a two-day event set for the weekend of April 20-21 at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville. The lineup includes LANCO, Judah & The Lion, Fetty Wap, Brothers Osborne, Kyle, Quinn and more. Hunt will headline both nights.
• Lady Antebellum — singer Hillary Scott has revealed the names of her twin girls, born last week. She posted a photo on Instagram with caption saying that the girls’ names are Betsy Mack and Emory JoAnn.

28 DAYS HATH FEBRUARY:
But why? Why do all the other months have 30 or 31 days, and February has 28, 29 in a good year. In the 8th century BC, they used the Calendar of Romulus, a 10-month calendar that kicked the year off in March and ended in December. January and February didn’t even exist. The problem? At that point, the year was only 304 days long. Winter was a nameless, monthless period that no one bothered to name or count. In 713 BC, King Numa Pompilius decided there needed to be a name for the period of time in winter, so he split the calendar into 12 lunar cycles—about 355 days—and introduced January and February. They were added to the end of the calendar, making February the last month of the year. The Romans believed even numbers were unlucky, so Numa tried to make each month contain an odd number of days. But to reach the quota of 355, one month had to have an even number of days. February ended up pulling the short stick, probably because it was the last month. After a few more adjustments over the years, we eventually arrived at a 365 day calendar, but February stayed at 28 days (29 in leap years).
(Probably because nobody wanted it to last any longer.)

The newest version of Google Chrome was launched last week, and it includes a number of interesting new features, like this one: users are able to mute entire sites that autoplay videos. Videos that start as soon as you click on a site and follow you as you scroll have become a popular online advertising trend recently, but the new update lets you right click on the offending tab and mute the site for good. This replaces the previous mute tab feature that was only temporary. Other new features include HDR support for Windows users and protection for Mac and Windows users against Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.
(Whatever they are…)
(Sounds great…except for when you go to a sites where you actually want to hear something!)

GO AHEAD, YOU WERE GOING TO ANYWAY:
Alright! Now it’s OK to cheat at Monopoly. The ‘Monopoly Cheater’s Edition’ will be released later this year with new rules in which fans are encouraged to actively cheat as part of play, much to the delight of terrible people everywhere. In addition to the usual Community Chest and Chance cards, “Cheat Cards” will ask players to carry out a secret sabotage mission at the expense of another player. If you are able to pull it off, you win cash or property. If caught, you’ll lose money or even end up handcuffed in jail – literally attached to the board by a plastic handcuff. Some cheats on the ‘approved’ list include stealing from the bank, skipping spaces, moving an opponent’s token, skimping on rent and adding a hotel you didn’t buy to your property. The cheater’s version of Monopoly will come out this fall.
(And I’ll be first in line to steal it!)
