We’ve gone Bullistic!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ If the “Beatles” fan in your circle of friends and family has been spotted salivating today, this is probably the reason:  “Lord of the Rings” filmmaker Peter Jackson has come aboard a project that Paul McCartney had previously hinted was in the works: a new Beatles documentary using the 55 hours of in-studio footage that were shot in early 1969, for the 1970 feature film “Let It Be.” The announcement was made on Wednesday — the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ final live appearance — the legendary rooftop concert atop the Apple Records offices in London.

★ “Empire” star Jussie Smollett is recovering from a vicious attack.  Police say Smollett was walking down the street near his residence in Chicago when two unknown people approached and began yelling “racial” and “homophobic” slurs towards him. The offenders began to “batter the victim with their hands” and “poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim.” Smollett told police that the chemical substance thrown in his face was bleach. Smollett took himself to hospital and was described as being in “good” condition”.

★ Netflix has asked its viewers to kindly stop talking about the “hotness” of serial killer Ted Bundy following the premiere “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.” The streaming service tweeted on Monday, saying it had been seeing “a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service – almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.” The four-part documentary premiered on January 24, the 30th anniversary of Ted Bundy’s execution via electric chair in the state of Florida.
(***Caution*** But you’ve gotta admit…he WAS hot that day!!)

★ Kate Hudson is clapping back at those “silly” claims that she is raising her daughter to be “genderless.” The mother-of-three took to Instagram to explain what she really meant when she said that she and her husband Danny Fujikawa were raising baby Rani Rose with a “genderless [approach].” Kate wrote that “I raise and will continue to raise my children, both my boys and girl to feel free to be exactly who they want to be. To feel confident in their life choices and feel loved and supported no matter what.”

★ Ryan Reynolds is set to walk down the aisle in a new action comedy that he’ll star in and produce.  “Shotgun Wedding” tells the story of a couple whose extravagant destination wedding is taken over by criminals. In the process of saving their families, they rediscover why they wanted to get married in the first place.

A BUG IN MY APPLE:
Apple has disabled the group-chat function in FaceTime after it was discovered that a software bug could let callers activate another person’s microphone remotely.  The caller could have been able to hear audio – even if the receiver did not accept the call. But have you heard about the person who may have been the first to discover the flaw?  The family of a 14-year-old high school student in Tucson, Arizona, tried to inform Apple about the situation more than a week before it became widely known to the public. The boy, Grant Thompson, said he discovered it by accident while playing the game “Fortnite” with a friend. While it is unknown if anyone exploited the bug maliciously, experts agree that it would have been hard to use the bug to spy on someone, because the phone would have to ring first – and it’s easy to identify who called.  Apple said Tuesday that a fix will come in a software update later this week.
(It took “experts” to tell us that it’s easy to identify someone who is calling you?)
(The good thing about that bug would be if you were FaceTiming one of those people who start talking while they hit the button to accept the call, and all you hear is “lo?”…)

WRITE WRONG:
New research says that poor handwriting is causing problems in workplaces.  50 per cent of people admit that they have been told by others that their writing is hard to read.  The average survey respondent has experienced two instances in their working life where their handwriting led to a miscommunication or caused a real problem.  And amazingly, 45 percent of us say we even have trouble reading our OWN handwriting!  The survey also revealed that the most common items to be misread are shopping lists, notes to colleagues, birthday cards, and thank you notes.
(I know. I saw the writing on the wall, and I STILL didn’t have a clue what was going on…)
(I’ve been told my writing looks like “a spider’s fallen in ink and crawled across the page.”)
(And we make fun of people who are always texting…)

I’M RRRRREADY!!!!!
While many football fans are most concerned either with whether their team will beat the spread or what kind of wings to get with their pizza, fans of SpongeBob Squarepants have weightier matters on their minds.  Namely, whether they will be able to convince Maroon 5 to do a rendition of SpongeBob’s famous ‘Sweet Victory’ song during their halftime performance.  SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg died in November, and fans are urging Super Bowl organizers and the group to pay tribute to Hillenburg at the game. An online petition is asking that ‘Sweet Victory’, the song that SpongeBob performed with a marching band at the “Bubble Bowl”, his universe’s equivalent of the Super Bowl, be performed at this years Super Bowl halftime show. So far, there are 1.2 million signatures.  Maroon 5 isn’t talking, but on Jan. 13, the band tweeted out a Super Bowl-themed hype video, and SpongeBob makes an appearance.  Not only that, but there are rumors floating around (see what I did there?) that Rodger Bumpass, who voices Squidward on the show, will introduce the halftime show.

☞ “Do you miss (former Rams coach) Jeff Fisher?” (Reporter to Rams punter Johnny Hekker…his answer appears to have been deleted from the internet…)
☞ “Would you like to eat some insects?” (Mexican reporter to anyone and everyone…most thought they tasted “delicioso.”)

DID YOU KNOW?
Toddlers spending a lot of time staring at screens is linked with poorer development later in childhood, according to a new study.  A direct association was found between screen time at ages 2 and 3 and development at 3 and 5.  That includes delayed growth in communication, motor skills, problem-solving and personal social skills.
