100% Grade A Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Charlize Theron and Brad Pitt are dating. And the couple was introduced by her former fiancé Sean Penn. At least that’s what one British tabloid is reporting.  According to the report, their relationship, which began over Christmas, is Pitt’s first serious romance since he split from Angelina Jolie in 2016.

★ America’s Got Talent is reportedly set for a major overhaul. The Simon Cowell-created show is being given a major shake-up by TV bosses, who are apparently planning to replace all of the judges except for Simon.  Reports are that it started with talk about replacing Mel B and now will also involve Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.  Cowell is said to be determined to bring some fresh blood into the judging panel, but according to an insider, there hasn’t been much buzz yet about who that might be.

★ Leslie Jones, who starred in the “Ghostbusters” reboot three years ago, tweeted out her disappointment after finding out another film would be created in the franchise, which will all but ignore the events of the previous movie. Jason Reitman is making another film in the series based on the story created and elaborated on in the 1984 original and the sequel five years later. In response to the news, Leslie took to Twitter to say she was not pleased, accusing Reitman’s decision as being like something “Trump would do.”

REMEMBER THAT NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION?
Why are some goals so hard to keep? And why do we keep setting the same goals – again and again – even after we fail? According to psychologist Dr. Janet Polivy, several studies show that the human brain is “hard-wired” to be optimistic- which drives us to challenge ourselves, and believe that we can achieve new things. But she also says there are times when our optimism can get the best of us, and sabotage our chances of success because we tend to set unrealistically high expectations for ourselves. This helps explain why millions make resolutions to lose weight or quit smoking every year, but only about 1-in-10 succeed.
(I’m not feeling so optimistic after hearing THIS!)
(So my resolution should have been to be less optimistic?)
(I had forgotten about my resolution until you just reminded me…)

THERE’S ALSO AN APP FOR THIS:
The father of a 13-year-old was tired of his son ignoring his texts.  So, he did what any frustrated parent would do, if only they had thought of it and had a clue how to do it. He invented an app that locks a child’s phone until they write back.  The app, called ReplyASAP, gives parents the power to freeze their kids’ phones when they don’t respond to text messages.  What’s more, it also lets parents set off an alarm on the phone until they respond.  And the alarm works even if the phone is on silent mode.  THAT should embarrass any kid into answering.  ReplyASAP has been downloaded 75,000 times since it was launched on the Google Play Store last year.  It is currently only available for Android devices, but an iOS version will be available soon.
(Did he ever consider that maybe his kid would write back if he wasn’t always sending ‘dad’ jokes?)
(Great idea, but it lends itself to all kinds of misuse.  Like when my wife tries to get it for me, for example…)
(My kid manages to lock himself out of his phone 3 times a week all by himself…)

CHEAP (OR FREE) WAYS TO CUT YOUR WINTER ENERGY BILLS:
➠ Program the thermostat:  Save up to 10 percent a year by setting your thermostat 7 degrees to 10 degrees F (4-6 degrees C) lower for eight hours a day, such as when you are away or asleep.  (And face the wrath of your cat when you get home…)
➠ Adjust your water temperature:  Hot water is a big energy user. Anything higher than 120 degrees F (49C) is unnecessary. A 10-degree F (6C) reduction in your water heater’s thermostat can shave 3 to 5 percent off your bill.
➠ Change your furnace filter:  They should be replaced regularly — even monthly, depending on the type and how much the furnace is running.
➠ Close the drapes:  Reduce heat loss by keeping drapes closed at night, or when the sun is not streaming in. When it’s sunny, open your blinds or drapes and let the sun’s warmth pour into your home.  (And unlike my furnace filter, at least I know where to find my drapes!)
➠ Use your ceiling fan correctly:  Most ceiling fans have a switch so you can set the blades to push the warm air near the ceiling down toward the floor to keep you warmer in winter.
➠ Use LED lightbulbs:  They won’t help with home heating costs, but they sure will make a difference in your electric bills.
(BONUS:  Remove the lightbulb from the fridge.  That way, you KNOW it is off when you close the door!)
