★ Michelle Williams has spoken out after Mark Wahlberg donated his $1.5 million salary from his ‘All the Money in the World’ reshoots to Time’s Up. In a statement, Williams said, “Today isn’t about me. My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted.”

★ It’s been one of the most popular comedies on television for years. But it seems Modern Family’s run could be almost over, if the show’s bosses get their way. Modern Family, which first debuted in 2009, will apparently be ending with season 10. Co-creator Steve Levitan said that, “Our plan is to end it at 10. If we can leave with most of our audience wanting more, I think that’s the right way to do it. Never say never, but I just can’t imagine that we’d go past that.”
There are also rumors of a spinoff series.
(Who gets the spinoff series? We think it’ll be Mitchell and Cam, but we HOPE it’ll be Gloria!)

★ Fans were disappointed to learn that Game of Thrones won’t return until 2019, but Kit Harington provided some exciting news about those final six episodes. The ‘Jon Snow’ actor confirmed that the final six episodes will run much longer than the usual one-hour length and may even be as long as 90 minutes. Harrington went on record as saying, “We know we have six episodes – we are not sure whether they will run for 70 minutes or even 90 minutes.”

★ Dennis Rodman has been arrested for DUI. Rodman was driving in Newport Beach Saturday at around 11 PM when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. After a field sobriety test, he was handcuffed, put in a patrol car and taken to the police station. Rodman remained in jail for 7 hours, and when police determined he was sober enough to care for himself, he was released. Rodman was also busted for DUI in 1999.

★ Aziz Ansari has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who claims he repeatedly got sexually aggressive with her after a date despite her protestations. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she texted Ansari the next day, saying, “Last night might have been fun for you it wasn’t for me. When we got back to your place, you ignored clear, non-verbal cues; you kept going with advances. You had to have noticed I was uncomfortable.” She says she decided to come forward after she saw Ansari wearing a ‘Time’s Up’ pin at the Golden Globes.

★ Paris Jackson says she was robbed by a pair of hitchhikers after her efforts to be a Good Samaritan went wrong. Jackson shared with her Instagram followers her story of driving the hitchhikers ‘across LA’, offering one girl her own socks to wear, and even taking them to a fast food restaurant where she bought them dinner. However, the only daughter of Michael Jackson says that the pair made off with her debit card. It’s unclear if the alleged robbery was reported to authorities.

• Camila Cabello – watched the ball drop with Mariah Carey, Nick Jonas and Ryan Seacrest on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve – and seriously considered kissing Jonas at midnight. But, as she told Jimmy Fallon, “I chickened out.”
• Liam Payne – wants to follow in the footsteps of Harry Styles by acting in a movie. Payne says that acting in Hollywood is one of his ”biggest aims”.
• Ed Sheeran – scored four nominations for the 2018 Brit Awards, announced on Saturday. He will also perform, as will Sam Smith and Foo Fighters at this year’s Brits, to be held Feb. 21.
• Lady Gaga — was preparing to debut a line of signature wines inspired by her family’s Italian restaurant, but officials are holding things up over an issue with her vino’s name. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has suspended her application for “Joanne Trattoria Vino Rosso”, because they claim it would cause confusion with a company which has already locked up rights to the term “Trattoria.”
• Kelly Clarkson – says her youngest daughter, 3 year-old River Rose only wants to listen to the music that her mama makes: “It looks like I’ve brainwashed my child to listen to just my music. But I’ll try and put other stuff on and she’s like ‘no.'”
• George Michael – donated over $500,000 to an HIV charity in honor of his former lover. He frequently sent money to the Los Angeles-based organization ‘Project Angel Food’, which helps those suffering from malnutrition and HIV, after his partner Anselmo Feleppa passed away from AIDS in 1993. He also donated a Mercedes for the charity to auction off.
• Allman Brothers – Devon Allman and Duane Betts, the sons of the sons of Allman Brothers Band members Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts, are hitting the road together. They’ll play across the U.S. from January to July, and plan to announce more shows “every two weeks.”
• Eric Clapton – says he would have been a bricklayer if he didn’t become a rock legend. For a while, he worked for his grandfather in construction, and he says: “I always thought, Well, if music doesn’t work … ‘Cause I had the time of my life on that building site.”
• Alan Jackson – is adding more star power to his ‘Honky Tonk Highway Tour’, including his longtime friend and collaborator Lee Ann Womack for one show, along with Randy Houser for most dates and newcomers Lauren Alaina and Runaway June for a few shows each. The 2018 leg begins Jan. 19 in Lexington, Ky. and runs through Sept. 15 in Charlotte, N.C.
• Midland – During a recent tour stop in Denver, they toured ‘Mindful’, one of the largest marijuana facilities in the U.S. Not wanting anyone to miss out on the experience, they chronicled their journey through the plant via a video they’re now sharing online with fans.

I WOULDN’T WANT TO BE ON HER CHRISTMAS LIST:
A Victoria B.C. woman is on a mission to buy NOTHING this year. Dana Stanley has joined the ‘Buy Nothing’ movement — a lifestyle where participants limit their purchases for weeks, months, or in her case, a year at a time. Members of the Buy Nothing movement help each other by exchanging goods among themselves. And although buying nothing sounds like a tall, if not impossible order, she concedes that she will allow herself to purchase some things…like food, cleaning supplies and haircuts. But clothing, beauty care products, electronics and pretty much everything else is off the shopping list until 2019. And she says there is a good chance her phone and her blender won’t make it through the year. If one of them goes kaput, she’ll just have to find a workaround. How is her ‘buy nothing’ resolution going after about two weeks? So far, she says it hasn’t been a problem.
(Obviously she hasn’t run out of toilet paper yet!)

WI-FINE:
As you know, the Wi-Fi service that you hook up to at your local coffee shop or restaurant isn’t exactly the most secure thing in the world. Free Wi-Fi connections aren’t encrypted, so other users on the network can potentially spy on what you’re doing and steal your usernames and passwords. Good news… the Wi-Fi Alliance—a group made up of companies like Apple and Intel that creates Wi-Fi standards and certifies products—has announced a major change to Wi-Fi security that’s coming this year. A new security protocol called WPA3 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 3) will make networks more secure against hackers. You’re probably already familiar with WPA2, the security system many Wi-Fi networks already run on. This is an improvement on that system—a much-needed update after a computer scientist discovered a major vulnerability in October 2017. According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, it can protect users even if they use terrible passwords. So your phone or tablet will be much less vulnerable as you enjoy that third donut with your coffee.
(And what about my Wi-Fi-enabled fridge, if I decide to take that to Starbucks??)

GROCERY STORE FLYER TACTICS WE ALL FALL FOR:
☹ Restrict sale prices to the purchase of multiple items: Those grocery store deals where you might have to buy two or three of an item to get them at a certain price might work out to being not as great of a deal as you might think. Sometimes they only do that to stand out against all the “Save $1″ specials throughout all the flyers that you see. (And what the heck am I supposed to do with 4 watermelons, anyway??!!??)
☹ Gift cards instead of discounts: Gift cards are a very effective loyalty tool to at least get another visit from that shopper. (Make it enough to be worth my while, and I don’t mind!)
☹ Low, low prices on loss leaders: It’s typical for common grocery items like milk, bread and soft drinks to be on sale nearly constantly. These are the categories where people do price comparisons. These products are known in the business as loss leaders. Retailers don’t mind taking a bit of a financial hit on them in hopes that customers will spend money on other items.
(Yeah…why do I drive all the way across town to save a quarter on milk?)
