BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The inevitable Caitlyn Jenner book deal has arrived. Jenner will write her memoir with the help of Buzz Bissinger, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who wrote “Friday Night Lights” in 1990; and who also wrote the “Vanity Fair” cover story in which ‘Cait’ debuted. Jenner approached him about writing the memoir a few months after the article came out. The book will follow Jenner from Bruce to Caitlyn, and her brave transition into womanhood. It’s due out in Spring 2017.

★ The brains behind “How I Met Your Mother” are developing a new pilot for CBS-TV entitled “My Time/Your Time” that chronicles the relationship of a young couple as they begin dating long distance. It’s based on the 2014 5-part web series “7P/10E” by Avital Ash about 2 people who get to know each other via 4-minute Skype chats each night. CBS has also picked up a drama pilot about amateur teen sleuth ‘Nancy Drew’ as a grown-up NYPD detective. The revival, now titled “Drew”, will reportedly focus on a non-white heroine.

★ And if you mixed “Survivor” with “The Amazing Race” you might get “Kicking & Screaming”, a new show from FOX-TV that features 10 survivalists teaming up with 10 pampered individuals for a tense race through the wilderness. It’s described as a competition reality series infused with a touch of comedy. Teams will have to go up against wild animals, dangerous terrain, and unpredictable weather to get to the finish line. The 8-episode 1st season is set to debut later this year.

• Glenn Frey – What did he die of? A medical expert says when you have conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and ulcerative colitis, the medication that you take actually makes your immune system weaker, thus making you susceptible to infection and pneumonia. That may have been the cause.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:

• “Aquaman” – Actress Amber Heard is reportedly in talks to play Jason Momoa’s love interest. “Conan the Barbarian” star Momoa signed on to play the comic book superhero way back in 2014, and movie executives are now reportedly speaking with Johnny Depp’s wife about the role of ‘Mera’, Queen of Atlantis. The film is scheduled to screen in 2018.
• “Boo! A Madea Halloween” – Tyler Perry’s tough-talking ‘Madea’ character fights off ghosts, ghouls, and zombies in her next bigscreen adventure. The storyline is the result of a collaboration with comedian Chris Rock. Written, directed, produced, and starring Perry, the film hits theaters on October 21st. Production is now underway in Atlanta GA.
• “Enzo Ferrari” – Actor Christian Bale has bailed out of Michael Mann’s upcoming bio-film because … he couldn’t gain weight fast enough. Bale was due to star as the famed Italian racer/carmaker but apparently didn’t think he could safely get to the weight needed by Spring, when production starts. Mann is already talking to other actors about the role.
• “Stan & Ollie” – Steve Coogan & John C Reilly star as the iconic Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy, one of the greatest comedy duos in history. This upcoming biopic focuses on their 1953 tour through Britain, as the aging comedians rediscover their chemistry and their fans in the face of old ghosts and new health problems. There is currently no release date for “Stan & Ollie”.

UBER FOR HELICOPTERS IS HERE:
Imagine being able to use Uber to call a ‘copter instead of a car. Airbus is partnering with Uber to make that dream a reality. Airbus is providing helicopters to Uber for use with its on-demand service in a pilot project that launches this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Uber has tested its so-called ‘UberChopper’ service before with rides to special events like the Cannes Film Festival and the US Formula 1 Grand Prix. 15-minute rides to and from Park City UT and the Salt Lake City airport cost $200 per person during the day and $300 at night. It’s not Uber’s first foray into alternate forms of transportation; it offers rickshaw service in India and boat service in Turkey. (Next … Hoverboards?)

STICKY SITUATION:
Why can’t there be a real-life ‘Spider-Man’? The answer is pretty simple: as a species, humans are just too big. A new University of Cambridge study explains that the larger an animal is, the greater the proportion of its body surface area is needed to be adhesive for it stick to a wall. In short, if you’re big, your sticky feet need to be much bigger. So, for an animal as small as an ant, only 0.09% of the creature’s surface area needs to be adhesive for it to walk up walls. For a gecko, the level rises to 4.3%; and for a human, the estimated surface area needed is 40% – or 80% if you’re only using one half of your body as an adhesive. (Let’s hope they received heaps of government funding to figure all this useful stuff out.)
