BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Meghan Markle has signed a voiceover deal with Disney, according to a report. Apparently, she’ll do the voiceover in exchange for a contribution to the wildlife charity “Elephants Without Borders”, which helps to track and protect animals from poaching. The news comes on the heels of last week’s stunning announcement that Markle and her husband Prince Harry plan to “step back as ‘senior’ members” of the British royal family. Markle previously served as a global ambassador for “World Vision”, the world’s largest international children’s charity.

★ Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will be returning to host the Golden Globes in 2021. The pair hosted the awards show in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Their return promises a shift in energy from Ricky Gervais’ performance last Sunday at the 77th Golden Globes, which was widely criticized for its negativity, and in which even he joked he’d not be returning (repeatedly). The date for the 2021 Golden Globes has not yet been announced.

★ Daniel Radcliffe isn’t a famous face to everyone! He shared a story about once being mistaken for a homeless man. On the Graham Norton Show, he said: “I was in New York…with my girlfriend and while she was in a shop, I was outside with our…dog. It was very cold, and I had on a hoodie, a fleece and then a big coat over the top . . . I knelt down to warm the dog and I saw this guy looking at me and then he walked past me…then he came back and handed me five dollars and said, ‘Get yourself a coffee mate.’ Radcliffe finished his story by saying: Apparently, I need to shave more often!”

★ Gwyneth Paltrow is taking her lifestyle brand ‘Goop’ to sea with a new “wellness cruise.” The cruise will depart from Barcelona, Spain on August 26 and take in destinations in France, the Mediterranean and the Italian Riviera, before returning on Sept. 6. Passengers will get to enjoy sessions with experts on innovative new ideas in the emotional and physical health fields, with the theme of the voyage “overall wellness”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Miley Cyrus — On Friday, she shared a photo of herself with Billy Idol and producer Andrew Watt. The trio is seen in a recording studio, surrounded by neon pink lights, guitars and other music memorabilia, hamming it up for the camera in a classic “raised fist” pose.
• Justin Bieber – is the first-announced performer at the 2020 iHeartRadio Awards in March. The announcement comes just days after he revealed he’s been suffering with Lyme disease – an infectious disease spread by ticks.
• Elton John – says his “diva” reputation is entirely due to his past cocaine habit, which led to “bad behavior and irrationality”. He had a well-publicized battle with drug and alcohol addiction before getting sober in the ’90s, now says it was the “worst decision” of his life to try cocaine in 1974.
• The Beatles – George Harrison’s handwritten lyrics to the classic ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, are going up for sale through the memorabilia company Moments in Time. The words, scribbled on the back of a studio recording sheet with the help of Ringo Starr, are listed at $195,000.
• Eddie Money — Sammy Hagar and Rick Springfield are among the artists who’ll take part in a tribute show for the late singer. George Thorogood, John Waite and Mickey Thomas (Starship) will also participate in the concert, which will be hosted by comedian Louie Anderson on Feb. 20 at the Canyon venue in Beverley Hills. Proceeds will benefit the MusiCares and the USC Eddie Money Cancer Research Fund.
• Rush – Tributes to late drummer Neil Peart continue to pour in. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl (who played drums for Nirvana) wrote: “I still vividly remember my first listen of ‘2112’…It was the first time I really listened to a drummer. And since that day, music has never been the same. His power, precision, and composition was incomparable. He was called ‘The Professor’ for a reason: We all learned from him.” Peart died last Tuesday after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that “We’ve lost a legend.”
• Coldplay — Chris Martin says he ”doesn’t really understand” the group’s new songs. They’ve decided not to tour their latest album, “Everyday Life”, due to environmental concerns, and he says: ”This album feels like we have to just release it into the world and let it fend for itself…Because a lot of these songs came from a place I don’t really understand…it’s just not tourable yet.”
• Rascal Flatts — Lead singer Gary LeVox says they are letting fans help choose which songs the group will perform during their recently-announced farewell “Life is a Highway Tour”. Fans were quick to chime in, requesting everything from ‘Backwards’ to ‘Red Camaro’ to ‘Summer Nights’.
• Kane Brown – has teased a new collaboration with John Legend. On Friday, Brown posted a snippet of a powerful ballad, with the caption: “I got to work with John Legend and it was awesome! Here’s the song we got.”

SUNDAY SCARIES:
A survey of 2,000 Americans says that the “Sunday scaries” set in at exactly 3:58pm. Sunday scaries, of course, are that anxious feeling you get in the bottom of your stomach on Sundays when you start to dread the upcoming workweek. The survey, conducted by OnePoll for “Charisma”, also found that it takes, on average, two hours to unwind after work on a Friday, and workers do slightly over three hours of unpaid work over the weekend, including checking emails, looking over presentations, or taking work calls. Here are the top ways that people fight the Sunday scaries:
• Take time for myself during the weekend: 44 percent
• Make sure to get a full night’s rest on Friday and Saturday: 42 percent
• Use the end of the day Friday to get organized for Monday: 35 percent
• Use the weekend to get ahead of what I need to do during the week: 34 percent
• Take a “digital detox” for part of the weekend: 21 percent
But still, 68% of workers admit that they generally stay up later than they should on Sunday evenings.
(Of course I do! I slept ‘til noon!)
(I get the Sunday scaries right after dinner on Fridays!)
(I think my supervisor gets the “Friday frights”, when he realizes that the weekend is coming and he won’t have anyone to boss around for a few days!)

THE LATEST AND NO-SO GREATEST:
Introducing the newest dating term: “Paperclipping”. Remember Clippy? Microsoft’s not-so-helpful virtual assistant, who would jump into your Word docs to see if you needed help? Using Clippy as inspiration, a British writer has coined “Paperclipping” to describe someone who pops into your life for no apparent reason, sometimes months – or even years – after you’ve ended things…just to remind you that they still exist. According to some memes, Clippy says things like, “Sometimes I pop up for no apparent reason at all. Like now”, and “The truth is, I’m damaged, flaky and not particularly interested in you.” The term has taken off, and may someday replace any of the several other already-in-use dating terms for flaky singles, including ‘ghosters’, ‘mosters’, ‘breadcrumbers’, ‘orbiters’, ‘kitten fishers’ and ‘Tindstagrammers’.
(Don’t replace Tindstagrammers…that one’s pretty catchy!)
(Finally we have a dating trend with its own mascot!)
(And then they get all bent out of shape!)

Best of BS . . .
WHY CATS ARE BETTER THAN DOGS:
• Cats are smarter … you can’t get 8 cats to pull a sled through snow.
• Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
• Cats don’t insist on playing tug-o-war with dad’s undies while he’s on the ‘throne’.
• Dogs come when they’re called, cats take a message and get back to you later.
• Cats don’t go wacky when they hear a doorbell … on TV.
• Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are gods.
• Cats don’t suddenly stand up straight when lying under the coffee table.
• As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat.
