• DJ Khaled – Is feeling the burn from the Twitterverse after the cancellation of a London concert was announced mere hours after he shared photos of himself relaxing in an infinity pool with his son in Mexico. He’d had been scheduled to perform at the Wireless Festival on Sunday, until the festival announced that he wouldn’t be appearing due to “travel issues.”
• XXXTentacion – Reportedly signed a $10 million album deal prior to his death last month.
The New York Times is reporting that the artist – born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy – had signed a huge deal with the independent music company Empire Distribution. That label was behind his debut album “17″.
• Mariah Carey – Was caught lip-syncing during opening night of her Vegas show. During the launch of her “The Butterfly Returns” residency at Caesars Palace Colosseum, she took a slight spill – yet amazingly her voice kept right on singing.
• Michael Bublé – He and wife Luisana Lopilato are expecting a girl. He told ET Canada, “I got my first little girl coming in three weeks, and I’ve actually never said that before in public.” They also share son Noah, 4½, and son Elias, 2.

Kane Brown‘s self-titled album is #2 with 432,000, while Luke Combs’ “This One’s For You”, Chris Stapleton’s 2015 album “Traveller”, and Thomas Rhett’s “Life Changes” round out the top five, according to Nielson.
• Garth Brooks – His new honky-tonking tune ‘All Day Long’ is only available digitally at Amazon. Brooks is notoriously protective of his music, quickly having recordings or live performances that pop up on YouTube removed. He withheld his songs from digital services until 2014, when he partnered with Amazon as the only digital service carrying his music.

SOMETHING NEW TO WORRY ABOUT:
It’s well known that a bad diet, lack of exercise, and genetics can all contribute to type 2 diabetes. But a new study points to an additional, surprising culprit: the air pollution emitted by cars and trucks. The study, published in ‘The Lancet Planetary Health’, found that in 2016, fully
14% of diabetes cases in the world were a result of air pollution. How can air pollution cause diabetes? The short answer is this: Air pollution contains a tiny particle called particulate matter, which is 30 times smaller than a human hair. Its size allows it to penetrate the lungs and enter the bloodstream. There, it can circulate to different organs and cause inflammation. The inflammation increases insulin resistance. Eventually, this insulin resistance can become so severe the pancreas becomes unable to pump out enough insulin to compensate, and diabetes can set in. The study’s authors say this shows that current limits on air pollution are too high.
(Do you want to tell this to that jogger you see on the way to work every morning, or shall I?)
(Now you know what it means when someone calls your car ‘sweet’.)
(I knew that rather than exercising, I was safer right here in this Lazy-Boy….Zzzzzz….)

SWERVE-THRU:
Some drive-thru workers in Burlington, Ontario are moonlighting as police informants. It’s not exactly a second job, but late-night fast food workers are working as volunteers with the Halton Police to identify and call in impaired drivers. The program started last year when police partnered up with fast-food chains like Tim Hortons, Wendy’s, McDonalds, Burger King, and more to train drive-thru workers to spot impaired driving, since these people have a unique opportunity to see what is going on in a lot of cars. Police provided the restaurants with a training video on identifying impaired drivers and, for reference, a poster that shows the signs of impairment. The workers keep their eyes open for signs of impairment in customers coming through the drive-thru, especially at night time, and call police. It is part of a pilot project that may some day be introduced in other cities.
(Shouldn’t ALL drive-thru workers be doing this? Or rather, shouldn’t we ALL be doing this?)
(“My first clue was when the guy ordered a Big Mac and a large ‘mix’!”)
(If I’m drunk, the last place I’m getting food is the drive-thru. No washroom!)
