BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ George Clooney has found his next feature film to both direct and star in. He’s currently in pre-production on an untitled film based on the sci-fi novel “Good Morning, Midnight” for Netflix. It’s a post-apocalyptic tale about the parallel stories of Augustine, played by Clooney, a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to make contact with the crew of a spacecraft as they try to return home to Earth. Production is set to begin in October.

★ Tom Holland was a real-life superhero to a young fan in New York while signing autographs. He was captured on camera threatening some professional autograph hunters, or “graphers” as they are known, who were crushing a young girl. In the video, Holland can be seen and heard telling someone he would throw their things on the ground if they did not stop pushing the young woman who said she was having a panic attack.
-YahooMovies
★ Roseanne Barr and Andrew Dice Clay have announced a new comedy tour together called “Mr. And Mrs. America.” In preparation for the show, Clay said that they were inspired by the current national obsession with political discourse in addition to the alleged policing of comedians’ language. And he’s no stranger to controversy. He was banned for life by MTV for his scandalous comedy and has been the subject of several protests.
-Canoe
★ Director Danny Boyle has confirmed that he is working on a third “28 Days Later” movie. He says that writer ”Alex Garland and I have a wonderful idea for the third part.” The original post-apocalyptic film followed a courier who wakes up from a coma after 28 days to discover society has broken down following the accidental release of a highly contagious virus which has turned the population of the UK into violent zombies. It spawned a 2007 sequel entitled “28 Weeks Later”, and led to a resurgence in zombie drama.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Taylor Swift — has applied to trademark her cat. She adopted Benjamin Button after he appeared in her ‘ME!’ video earlier this year and she’s now applied for the rights to his name, after previously doing so for her other feline friends, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson. (Note to Taylor: There’s a pretty good chance that it has already been trademarked by the people who made the movie of the same name…or the person who wrote the book!)
• Ariana Grande — revealed a new tattoo on her Instagram story. It showed a picture of a Jim Carrey quote from The Truman Show, “In case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening and good night!” The tattoo was a screenshot from her friend’s matching tattoo, and Grande wrote that hers is the same, “but upside down”. Grande is a big fan of Carrey and used to run a fan page dedicated to him as “JimCarreyFan42”.
• Avicii — The video for his song ‘Heaven’ from his posthumous album “Tim” was released Monday. It is set in Madagascar, where the late producer spent 19 days after his final gig in Ibiza. The cinematographer says he filmed during that trip and returned after Avicii’s death “to remember Tim, to honor his legacy, and to recreate the memories that will stay with us forever.” Avicii died by suicide in April, 2018.
• Avril Lavigne – has announced she’s about to tour for the first time in five years. The “Head Above Water” tour will play 15 cities across North America. $1 from each ticket sold will go to The Avril Lavigne Foundation in support of people with Lyme disease, as well as other illnesses or disabilities.
• George Michael – his London home is available for rent. Wealthy fans are able to stay there for the reasonable sum of just $19,000 per week. A source said: “The family don’t want to let it go yet, instead they want others to enjoy the beautiful house. Nobody knows which A-lister will be in there yet, but it is likely to be somebody really big.”
• Foo Fighters — Frontman Dave Grohl and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons are reportedly among the names lending their talents to the next Queens of the Stone Age record. The group is working on the follow-up to “Villains”, which was released in August 2017.
• Blake Shelton – told ET’s Nancy O’Dell that despite the wedding rumors about him and Gwen Stefani which crop up every once in a while, “I promise you, we won’t break the news in any of the grocery store trash magazines.” He went on to say that “WHEN” it happens, “you’ll hear about it from somebody like you. Maybe even you, exclusively. You’re credible.” (Yes, that was a ‘when’, not an ‘if’.)
• Miranda Lambert – says her upcoming album will have a bit of a “rock vibe”. She explains that she has been spending time in New York and “I got married and I’m happy”. When asked if she brought some “New York grit” to the new album, she agreed.

PICK ME UP A SEVEN-PACK:
How about a seven-pack? In an effort to help curb plastic pollution, Corona has come up with a new type of beer can that might make those plastic six-pack rings a thing of the past. They have come up with a can design which has threading at the top and bottom that allows them to be connected and stacked on top of each other. “Corona Fit Packs” will not only allow Corona to sell beer cans without the plastic rings, but they will also allow for a wider variety of quantities to be sold. The new design is said so allow you to fasten together as many as ten cans in a single stack. Keep in mind, though, that ten cans would stand about four-feet-tall, which wouldn’t be easy to carry around, much less store in a fridge or cooler without taking the time to take them apart. The cans are currently being tested in Mexico.
(I can’t wait to see what drinking games they make out of THIS!)
(The only problem so far is that after drinking 4 of them, nobody can figure out how to get the next one off!)
(“Fit Packs”? They need a catchier name…and I don’t think “Screw Corona” is the way to go!)

“BROWNED” COFFEE:
From the department of good news, scientists are saying that coffee just might the secret to battling obesity…and diabetes. It has to do with the fact that java has been found to help the body stimulate brown fat in the body. Brown fat is the “good fat” which generates body heat by burning calories. By stimulating brown fat, which also helps burn off the bad white fat, coffee could help prevent obesity and diabetes, according to the study conducted by the University of Nottingham. Until now, there was no known way to stimulate brown fat. Scientists are unsure if it’s the caffeine in coffee that’s responsible for this, but with more testing, they may be able to use coffee as part of a weight management regime, or as part of a glucose program to prevent diabetes.
(Sounds great…until I load my coffee up with three spoonfuls of sugar and a bunch of cream!)
(If this is true, can you imagine how huge I’d be if I DIDN’T drink coffee!)
(I’m guessing we can’t increase our brown fat by switching to brown sugar, can we?)

DID YOU KNOW?
People are more likely to return a lost wallet if it contains money, and the more cash, the better, according to an experiment carried out in 355 cities in 40 countries. The presence of money in a wallet boosted the return rate to about 51 per cent, versus 40 per for wallets containing no cash. The author of the study says the evidence suggests people have an aversion to seeing themselves as a thief.

WINE MYTHBUSTING:
➢ Only cheap wines have screw tops:  That used to be true. These days, winemakers all over the world have come around to the benefits of the screw top, like the facts that they are airtight, and they don’t crumble into the bottle like a cork. (And it’s easier to re-seal the bottle if you don’t finish it…or so I’ve heard!)
➢ Sulfites give you red-wine headaches:  If you can eat dried fruit or deli meat without issues, you probably don’t have a sulfite sensitivity, as both are generally much higher in sulfites than red wine. In fact, even white wine has more sulfites than red wine. The likely cause of your headache is dehydration.
➢ Certain wines require certain glasses:  The explosion of wine-glass diversity didn’t happen until 1973. And studies have found that the effect of different-shaped glasses on the taste of wine is limited. So, it might be worth investing in a few styles of stemware if you consider yourself a serious taster, but otherwise, pretty much any glass will do. (Any suggestions on straws?)
➢ Red wine goes with red meat, white wine goes with fish:  Wine color is only one element that dictates its ideal food pairings — acidity, tannins, fruit flavors, oak treatment, and other factors can all have an impact on whether your bottle of vino tastes great with that home-cooked meal. (Now, which goes with Barbecue chips, again?)
➢ Red wine shouldn’t go in the fridge, and white wine should stay chilled:  The recommended serving temperature for red wine is between 62 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit (17-20 Celsius), so “room temperature” might not be where you want your wine to be. And the recommended serving temperature for white wine is between 49 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit (9-13 Celsius), yet the FDA-recommended refrigerator temperature is 40 degrees (4 Celsius).
