Good Morning, Sheetheads!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “West Wing” star Mary McCormack’s husband Michael Morris had a narrow escape when his Tesla spontaneously burst into flames. The car began spewing flames while in Los Angeles traffic on Friday.  On Twitter, she wrote: “No accident, out of the blue, in traffic on Santa Monica Blvd. Thank you to the kind couple who flagged him down and told him to pull over. And thank god my three little girls weren’t in the car with him.” Tesla is investigating the incident.
(So is his insurance company!)

★ Jimmy Kimmel might have lost a challenge to Ted Cruz, but that didn’t stop him from throwing one last jab the senator. A few weeks ago, Kimmel poked fun at Cruz for essentially jinxing the Houston Rockets during the NBA playoffs. He compared Cruz to a blobfish … sparking Cruz to challenge Kimmel to a charity hoops game with the loser donating $5,000 to a non-political charity of the winner’s choosing. The game finally went down Saturday night, and Cruz came out on top, 11-9. During the competition, Kimmel trash-talked his opponent by asking, “Did you spend more time this week practicing basketball than trying to get those kids out of that detention center?”

★ Ewan McGregor has been cast as the lead character in the upcoming sequel to “The Shining”. McGregor will play Danny Torrance – the son of Jack Nicholson’s character in the original – in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “Doctor Sleep”, which was written as the follow-up to The Shining. The film is scheduled for release in January, 2020. Mike Flanagan will direct.
(I’m guessing “Jack’s not back”??)

★ Last weekend’s release of the long-awaited “Incredibles 2” has prompted some attendees to caution others via Twitter that the movie has several scenes with flashing lights that could pose a danger to those with epilepsy or other light-sensitive conditions — and that the movie doesn’t come with its own strobe light warning. Disney has been notified of the situation and has asked all theaters that are showing “Incredibles 2” to notify patrons of the scene in question.

★ Comic-Con 2018 is not going to look the same this year. HBO has announced that “Game of Thrones” and “Westworld” will not be attending, and Marvel will also be skipping the event for the first time in three years. HBO said in a statement that Game of Thrones and Westworld wouldn’t appear this year because of scheduling conflicts. The final season of Game of Thrones is set to premiere in 2019.

She says although it works, “It’s really expensive to do.” She wishes it were possible for all Americans to try it.
• Eminem – used his Firefly Festival headline set to respond to criticisms for using ‘gunshot-like’ sound effects. Before he appeared onstage at the Delaware festival Saturday night, a message was shown on the big screens saying: “If you are easily frightened by loud noises or offended by explicit lyrics you shouldn’t be here.”

NOT MY FAULT:
Depending on who you are talking to, the FIFA World Cup is either the biggest or second biggest sporting event in the world. Actually, that can also depend on where you are. For many, the World Cup is definitely the most important thing in the world. Take Mexico, for example. When thousands of overjoyed fans took to the Mexico City streets Sunday to celebrate their national team’s long-shot 1-0 win against Germany, they partied so hard that they actually set off earthquake detectors! Hirving Lozano’s winning goal set off such a commotion that seismic detectors registered a false earthquake, which the geological institute said may have been generated by “massive jumps” across the city. After the match, throngs of fans dressed in green converged around the iconic Angel of Independence monument, bouncing with joy and waving the Mexican flag. Car horns blared, whistles were blown and drums beat for hours after the match.
(Based on TV coverage, every time Tiger Woods swings a golf club has to be right up there too!)
(Imagine what soccer fans would do if they scored TWO goals!)
(Keep your ‘Yo Mama’s so fat’ jokes to yourself!)

PUTTING MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS:
How much is a tooth worth to the Tooth Fairy? According to a survey of baby boomers, Gen Xers, millennials, and Gen Zers, the average amount of money slipped under the pillow to be the tooth fairy has varied over time. LendEdu found that people currently older than 53 made about 69 cents per tooth, those in the 39- to 53-year range got $1.39, 24- to 38-year-olds earned about $2.13, and the 6-and-older set currently losing teeth is raking in an average of $3.25 per chomper. Dental Delta, however pegs the current rate at something closer to $4.13. Funny enough, the market has been as high as $4.50 in the past. What they have noticed is how closely the payout from the Tooth Fairy follows the ups and downs of the stock market. Overall, throughout the years, the fortunes of children who go to sleep with teeth under their pillows closely follow the fortunes of the world’s largest companies.
(Isn’t that incisor trading?)
(OK, it’s not an exact science, but I’m betting I’d do better on the stock market with this info than I’m doing now!)
(I never did well with the Tooth Fairy. Possibly because I never told my parents when I lost a tooth…)

HACKS TO HELP YOU SHAVE LESS OFTEN:
➠ Shave at Night: Shaving fairly late at night can help ensure that your skin will still be smooth the next morning. If you’re a nighttime shower-er anyway, take advantage of that to get a good shave. (I get up at 3:30…if I’m shaving, it’s gonna be at night!)
➠ Don’t Shave Right Away: If you shave in the shower, wait five to ten minutes after you get in to apply shaving gel or cream and reaching for the razor. If skin is warm and steamy, your follicles are a little bit more open, the hairs might be a little bit more raised so you can shave them a little bit closer to the skin. (Changing the blade more than once every full moon helps too…)
➠ Exfoliate: Exfoliating prior to shaving can help remove the hairs better and more thoroughly. It can help remove dead skin, make skin feel smoother, and may help you get a smoother shave as well. (And as soon as I figure out how to SAY that word, then I’ll try to find out what it means!)
➠ Use A Topical Cream For Facial Hair: A topical prescription cream called Vaniqa has been shown in clinical studies to slow down the rate of hair growth. It is only FDA-approved for facial use. (I’ve gotta know…Are ears considered part of the face?)
➠ Bend Your Knees: Doing so stretches the skin and gives you a closer shave. Knees are known as the most difficult parts of your legs to shave. (Great tip for the ladies…and the cyclists!)
➠ Keep Your Skin Moisturized: A great way to maximize the amount of time between shaves. It’ll help your skin feel smoother longer and, of course, make sure that you’re not dealing with dry skin on your legs or other parts of your body.
(Yes, it seems that many of these tips are aimed at women. And to that, let me add this one based upon observation: If you want to maximize time between shaving your legs, just wait until Winter!)

• “Pets In Film Day”, Cats and dogs have been on the big and small screens since the early days. Here’s some interesting trivia on a few of Hollywood’s popular furry stars.
– Lassie’s a Lad: Although Lassie was a girl in the TV series and movies, this heroic pup was actually played by a boy dog named Pal. Male collies tend to have thicker coats, which look better on camera.
-Mr. Bigglesworth’s Breed: In the “Austin Powers” movies, Dr. Evil’s famous feline Mr. Bigglesworth was a Sphynx cat. The Sphynx is considered a hairless breed and is known to love cuddling for warmth.
– Many Marleys: The touching film “Marley and Me” covers 14 years in the life of the title dog. To make the film, the director used yellow labs at different ages to play him – 22 in all!

BULL’S BITS

BS WACK FACTS:
✓ The brain cycles that occur when you are asleep also occur when you are awake, but in smaller sections. That means parts of your brain are always falling asleep.
✓ Flossing your teeth can help your memory. It prevents gum disease, which prevents stiff blood vessels, which cause memory issues.
✓ Red Solo Cups are a common souvenir to bring home from the United States. The novelty comes from the cups being used in many movie party scenes.
✓ The word ‘bi-weekly’ has two meanings. Twice a week and once every two weeks.
✓If you point your key fob to your head, it increases the signal range. This works by using your brain as a radio transmitter.
✓ When you exercise, the burned fat metabolizes into carbon dioxide, water, and energy. That means you literally exhale your own fat.
