BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Heather Locklear was rushed to the hospital Monday, hours after being released on bail following her arrest on charges of misdemeanor battery on Sunday night.  Police say that they were called to a Thousand Oaks home along with fire department and ambulance personnel and it was determined that it was a medical issue and a patient was transported to a local hospital.  Multiple media outlets are reporting that the initial call to emergency services was due to a suspected overdose.

★ Richard Benjamin Harrison — known to “Pawn Stars” fans as ‘The Old Man’ — passed away on Monday morning. He was 77. Harrison and his son opened the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in 1989, which has been featured on the History Channel show “Pawn Stars” since 2009. Gold & Silver Pawn’s Facebook page posted that Harrison was surrounded by “loving family” when he died peacefully. The post said that fans would remember Harrison as a “sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking, and voice of absolute reason.” -TheBlast
★ Did Tom Holland accidentally reveal title of the next Spider-Man movie? In a video posted to Instagram after his appearance at Ace Comic Con in Seattle, he says: “I wanted to apologize because there’s no real revelations coming out this weekend about Spider-Man 2. I don’t know much about it.” He then proceeded to hold up the front page of his script to the camera, revealing that the working title for the project is “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
(If it sticks!)

★ Carrie Fisher had clandestine affairs with David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, according to a new book. “Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds”, written by film historians Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince, claims that both bisexual rock stars cheated on their respective partners to be with Fisher in 1973 when she was just 17, and it was Bowie who “truly introduced” her to the world of drugs. Fisher died in 2016 at age 60, after a long battle with substance abuse and mental illness. The book will be available next month.

★ Paris Jackson took to social media to make some things very clear about her grandfather Joe Jackson and his recent Twitter activity. It featured a picture of the patriarch watching the sunset with the caption: ‘I have seen many more sunsets than I’ve left to see. The sun rises when the time comes, and whether you like it or not it sets when the time comes”. In response, Paris Jackson wrote: “This is a very beautiful tweet. Although it upsets me to see whoever’s in charge of his account taking advantage of it. My grandfather did not tweet this. I’m not sure if he’s ever used this account”.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake – is auctioning off one of his old notebooks, which contains handwritten lyrics from his 2006 debut mixtape “Room for Improvement”. It is listed on the Nate D. Sanders Auction House, and bids starting at $8000 will be accepted starting tomorrow.
• Taylor Swift – On Monday, she posted a pic of herself posing alongside both Adele and “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, after they both attended a Swift concert.
• Adele – Is working on new music, but fans will have to wait a while yet. At the end of her 2016 tour, she said there would be a long wait for her next album. Word is that she is now writing and picking musicians with en eye toward a new album release around Christmas… Christmas 2019, that is.
• XXXTentacion – Has posthumously topped the US singles chart with ‘Sad!’ The rising Florida rapper was shot and killed in an apparent robbery in Deerfield, Florida last week. He was 20.
• Childish Gambino – The artist the he is accused of stealing ‘This Is America’ from is giving him a pass, saying he’s “extremely humbled” to have possibly inspired Gambino’s track. Jase Harley released a song called ‘American Pharaoh’ in 2016. That song has a similar message and, to many, a similar sound. (Not only that, he stole his look from Donald Glover!)
• Allman Brothers – Former guitarist Dickey Betts says he reversed his decision to retire after he gave an interview to Rolling Stone magazine, and was overwhelmed with offers from promoters “offering good money”. The 74-year-old says when he retired, he thought he just wanted to fish and golf and “mess around and stuff”, but he became “bored as hell.”
• Guns N’ Roses – Are streaming a previously-unheard 1988 acoustic version of ‘Move To The City’. The new version will appear on the multiple expanded versions of the reissue of their “Appetite For Destruction” album, out Friday.
• Dixie Chicks – Might be working on new music. Late Sunday night, Natalie Maines shared on Instagram a photo taken from behind the control board of a recording studio. There’s a glass of wine and a notebook containing what could be song lyrics. She didn’t offer any hints in the photo’s caption: All she wrote was “?” The Dixie Chicks’ last album was 2006’s “Taking the Long Way.”
• Ashley McBryde – Her older brother Clay has died. She has shared few details about the 53-year-old’s death other than to suggest those who’d like to send flowers make a donation to a charity called Mission 22 instead. An obituary for William Clayton McBryde Jr. says that the Russellville, Arkansas native died on June 20 at his home, leaving behind a wife of seven months, one son, one grandson and many siblings.

HIT THE BEACH…THEN THE BUFFET:
We’ve all heard you’re not supposed to swim right after you eat (which is a myth, by the way). But have you ever wondered why you’re so darn hungry AFTER a day at the beach? Even more so than after running or biking? It turns out there’s a scientific reason. Yes, swimming does burn calories, but a study conducted by the University of Florida found that people tend to eat about 44% more calories after exercising in cold water than in warm water. That means the fact that swimming makes you colder than exercising in the open air may be to blame for your increase in appetite. They think this could be because feeling cold constricts your blood vessels, which may prevent the release of hormones that would normally make you less hungry — akin to why an animal eats more when preparing for winter hibernation.
(Doesn’t do much for the ‘bikini-bod’, does it?)
(It’s true. After an hour at the beach, I’m starving. And I haven’t even gone in the water yet!)
(And I though I was hungry because I could smell the hot-dog stand!)

NEW WORDS TO GET WRONG:
The English language evolves at such a fast pace that the Oxford English Dictionary is updated on a quarterly basis in order to keep up. Still, is that an excuse for the fact that they have just now added the terms ‘hip-hop culture’ and ‘spoiler alert’? The latest update features 900 new words, many of which may already sound very familiar. OED tracks usage for at least 10 years before deciding whether to add a new entry. Here are some more of the newest:
✓ ‘Spoiler alert’ – an intervention used to warn a reader”
✓ ‘Binge watch’– watching multiple episodes of a TV show in “extended bursts.”
✓ ‘Beerfest’ – a beer festival
✓ ‘Facebook’ – (as a verb) to use Facebook
✓ ‘Imposter syndrome’ – the persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved.
✓ ‘Pansexual’– someone who is attracted to people of all gender identities
✓ ‘Ace’ – an abbreviated word for asexual
✓ ‘Microagression’ – a statement or act regarded as prejudice
✓ (***Caution***) ‘Upskirt’ – to take images under a person’s clothing without their consent. (Look it up!)
✓ ‘Yessir’ – an abbreviated word for yes, sir.
(But not much of one…)

THE FIVE “SUPER-SKILLS” YOU NEED FOR JOBS IN THE FUTURE:
As the workplace changes, in order to stay ahead, you’ll need to master these skills that you probably didn’t learn in college:
➠ Personal Brand: Being successful means setting yourself apart, and you’ll need a personal brand that defines who you are and who you want to become. That involves building a reputation, trust, and a following. (Like Fat Bastard said in ‘Goldmember’, “Everyone likes their own brand, don’t they?)
➠ Digital Fluency: The digital transformation impacts every industry, and being able to befriend the “machine” is one of the most critical skills. The ability to embrace technology and machines is about the ability to get stuff done. (Well, I AM pretty handy with a fax machine…)
➠ A Tribe: As the economy embraces gig work and crowdsourcing, having a personal ‘tribe’ becomes critical. And with the world shifting shapes all the time, you’ll seriously need to develop your personal network. (So, probably a personal network BEYOND Mom and my sister?)
➠ Making Sense of Complexity: Complexity can look like chaos, and you’ll need an ability to connect the dots to create new pathways. Being adaptable will help you keep up with change. (I WAS adaptable until everything changed around here!)
➠ Resilience: In your personal life, resilience is often linked to overcoming problems and obstacles. In a business setting, resilience helps you transform obstacles into solutions and opportunities. (My resilience is what keeps me awake until at least lunchtime!)
(Thank God they didn’t say ‘typing!)
