BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Sara Gilbert is “so excited” about the upcoming “Roseanne” spinoff without Roseanne Barr. Though a premiere date has yet to be announced, ABC will be airing a 10-episode season with the working title, “The Conners”. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman are returning with Gilbert. Late last week, the returning cast members issued a statement, saying: “We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience.”

★ Buzz Aldrin is suing two of his children and a former business manager for allegedly misusing his credit cards and transferring his money around without his permission. According to court documents, Aldrin claims his son Andrew does not tell him about pending or future business transactions, removes large sums of money from his accounts, and continues to represent him in business and social capacities despite his repeated requests to stop.

★ Sandra Bullock’s star-studded “Ocean’s 8″ has become the heist movie franchise’s most successful film. The movie, which also stars Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett, has topped US$100 million in just 17 days, two days quicker than the previous biggest Ocean’s hit, “Ocean’s Eleven”. Worldwide, the film has hauled in over $171 million and still hasn’t opened in some major movie-going countries, such as Japan and Spain.

★ Harvey Weinstein‘s insurance company is refusing to cover his criminal defense costs — or reimburse him for $1 million in bail money — claiming a “bodily injury” exemption in the policy encompasses rape charges. Weinstein was personally covered by Steadfast Insurance through Walt Disney which, bought his Miramax film company in 1993.
(He finally found something shadier than himself….insurance companies!)
-PageSix
★ Azealia Banks has set up a crowdfunding campaign to sue Russell Crowe. The 27-year-old rapper was removed from Crowe’s hotel room two years ago following a fight, and now she is asking fans to donate towards her $100,000 target so she can take legal action against Crowe for causing what she calls ”irreparable damage” to her acting career and reputation.  Banks says she isn’t taking action for money but to send a message on behalf of other black women who have been ”victims” of men in Hollywood.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Katy Perry – Had money to burn – and a crew she wanted to treat. But she couldn’t get a reservation for her large party when she attempted to spoil her crew while in Glasgow for a show. In the end she gave up – and the group dined at the local Taco Bell.
• Miley Cyrus – Is working to help unite migrant children who have been separated from their families – and she raised nearly $30,000 in less than 24 hours. She launched the campaign on Monday through her Happy Hippie Foundation, the nonprofit she launched to help homeless LGBTQ youth.
• Bryan Adams – Appeared on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” on Monday and participated in a game of “Plead the Fifth.” When Cohen asked Adams if he was ever romantically involved with Princess Diana, because, “Her butler said that he used to sneak you into Kensington Palace,” Adams responded, “Um, she was just … we were good friends.”
• The Kinks – Frontman Ray Davies said in an interview with the BBC that the group will be getting back together to record a new album after more than 20 years apart — then took a call from drummer Mick Avory and changed his mind, joking that, “The Kinks are getting back together … in the pub at least.” He has since clarified that he’ll be “making a new Kinks album” with brother Dave Davies and Mick Avory.
• Stone Temple Pilots – Guitarist Dean DeLeo’s wife Jenn has filed for divorce, alleging years of abuse. She filed a couple weeks ago, days after she claims he made violent threats to her, admitted he was cheating and told her to get out of the house – in front of their 6-year-old daughter.
• Bee Gees – Barry Gibb has been knighted. The 71-year-old officially received his honor for his services to music and charity from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. He said that the thought of being referred to as Sir Barry for the rest of his life is ”a bit surreal”.
• Wynonna Judd – Her 22-year-old daughter, Grace Pauline Kelley, is behind bars again. She has been sentenced to eight years for violating probation stemming from drug charges. Last year, Kelley pleaded guilty to meth manufacture, delivery, sale and possession with intent.
• Brett Eldredge – Has recorded a new Christmas album to follow his 2016 Christmas collection “Glow”. He teased “Glow 2.0″ in a video posted to his Instagram account, although he says he doesn’t even know for sure if it will be called that. He did say that, “The music turned out magic again”

MARSHMELLOW OUT:
In the 1960s, scientists conducted a ‘patience’ experiment on many children called “The Marshmallow Test”. They would place one marshmallow in front of the child and tell him or her that they could eat it now, or if they could hold on, they’d get two later. Now, the American Psychological Association says kids born in the 2000s are actually able to resist for an average of two minutes longer than the kids of the 1960s did. Why? They think it has to do with advances in school readiness, social skills learned in preschool, better parenting techniques, and more chances to exercise self-control, including through the use of digital devices.
(Also, there are so many junk foods today that are WAY better, that marshmallows just aren’t that exciting…)
(Want to impress me? Teach my dog to do the same thing!)
(I’m a big proponent of delayed-gratification. In fact, I’m still waiting….)

IT WASN’T MEME:
I, for one, do not want to live in a world without the hilarious meme of Steve Carrel of “The Office” shouting “Noooooo”. Memes have become a beloved part of pop culture. And now, there’s a strong possibility that the posting of memes featuring copyrighted material could be deemed illegal. Article 13 of the new EU Copyright Directive has been approved, which if passed, will force websites like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and more to create tools which would seek out copyrighted content and instantly delete it. So things like the ‘Steve Carrel’ meme, or the ‘Kermit’ meme or the ‘Toddler With his Fist Clenched’ meme, or the ‘Leonardo DiCaprio Holding a Glass of Wine Meme….would all technically become illegal. The same would hold true for a GIF or video from any TV show, movie or other copyrighted broadcast. There is still hope that our freedom will not be taken from us. Approval of Article 13 is in the hands of the European Union, who will vote on it in December or early 2019. Experts say that if it is passed, it could set a “dark and dangerous” precedent of automatic censorship online, and could eventually affect what people are able to post online from any country.
(On the other hand, this might be a good thing. I’ve never quite been sure how to say that word…)
(Would someone please quickly come up with an awesome meme about this?)
(What they should really be banning is the posting of memes with spelling errors!)

MUFFIN-TOPPIN’ IT:
You know the routine. You pick up an enormous, fattening muffin along with your coffee in the morning, and as soon as you are able, you tear off the top…and wolf down that cake-like deliciousness. Then you’re stuck with the bottom half. What a downer. You have to peel the paper off, and it crumbles all over the inside of your car or on your keyboard, and it doesn’t even taste that good. Well, McDonalds to the rescue! Their latest breakfast idea is to sell you HALF a muffin. The top half. The idea actually comes from a 1997 episode of “Seinfeld” where Elaine wondered what to do with the remainder of her muffins after she had eaten the “best part”. She tried donating them to a soup kitchen, which rejected them because they were “just stumps.” McDonalds has already tested selling ‘tops-only’ in Baltimore.
(I’m guessing these babies are going to cost more than half what a regular muffin does!)
(Like, how do you bake these things?)
(Great. One more question at the drive-thru. “Will that be a whole muffin or just the top?”)

FOUR QUESTIONS THAT WILL HELP YOU BUILD MORE MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS FASTER:
Networking is everything these days….here’s how to do it:
☞ What excites you now? So much more interesting than “What do you do?”, which keeps the conversation in work mode, and prevents you from exploring different facets of someone’s character. (Last time I tried that question, I got slapped in the face!)
☞ What’s the best thing to happen to you this year? Similar to the first question, but it’s looking into the past. It gives people the chance to talk about milestones or achievements that they are proud of, and it can indicate what they value. (I’d request a lawyer before I answer that question…)
☞ What are you watching or reading right now? TV shows like “Game of Thrones” are so popular that if a person responds that they are watching one of them, there’s a good chance you’ll have it in common. The other advantage to asking this question, is that if you aren’t familiar with the movie, show or book that a person mentions, you can ask them to tell you about it. (“Right now, I’m watching some dude that I don’t know give me the third degree about what I do when I’m alone!”)
☞ Who is your favorite superhero and why? It’s important to follow up the question with “Why?” This gives you a sense of someone’s background and stories that they value. Also, a superhero is usually an icon that the person aspires to be like. If they respond that they don’t like any superheroes, there could be an interesting reason why. (What if mine’s a bad guy?)
(Good questions for networking. Bad questions for Parent-Teacher night!)
