BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★  Wendy Williams, whose TV talk show ended on June 17, has already lined up some big names help launch her next venture, podcasting. According to her manager, Williams has talked to Snoop Dogg and Fat Joe about being guests — as she’s planning to focus more on her own personal favorites from the worlds of celebs, food and fashion. In addition, she is rumored to have had discussions with the Kardashians, and even a member of the Trump family, but it hasn’t been revealed which one. No timetable has yet been announced for her podcast debut. Meanwhile, Williams’ replacement on TV, Sherri Shepherd’s new daytime talker “Sherri” has been given a Sept. 12 premiere date.

★ Jason Momoa’s kids are his biggest supporters! On Monday, the “Aquaman” star was named the UN Environment Programme’s Advocate for Life Below Water at the UN Ocean Conference in Portugal. Momoa’s teens Lola Iolani and Nakoa-Wolf attended the special event with their dad. He posted a series of pics on Instagram that showed his kids intently listening to his discussion at the conference. He wrote: “I join the UN family and commit to the critically important work: to manage, protect and preserve the Ocean and all living creatures on our beautiful, BLUE planet.” Momoa concluded by giving a shout-out to his kids, who he shares with ex Lisa Bonet, writing: “Papa loves you babies, mahalo for standing by my side. ★ Danny Bonaduce is shedding some light on his mystery illness. The 62-year-old “Partridge Family” alum said on ABC news that he “was hoping for a diagnosis but did not get one” after announcing the health scare and subsequent hiatus from his Seattle’s radio show in April. He says he wasn’t able to walk, nor balance, adding that he was “afraid of everything,” including stairs. He says that although his ailment remains a mystery, doctors have ruled out a stroke. The “Breaking Bonaduce” star returned to his radio gig on Monday and plans to use his platform to get fans to take control of their health. He asks them to “Take time to consider your health, what you’re doing. Pay attention.”

★ Christian Bale wouldn’t mind taking on the role of Batman, again. He told Screenrant that he’d slip on the Batsuit again — but on one condition: Christopher Nolan returns as director. Bale starred in Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy from 2005-12, playing the superhero in “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, and “The Dark Knight Rises”. Bale said: “In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake – has moved past Kanye West and Eminem on the all-time #1 albums list. With “Honestly, Nevermind” hitting the top of the Billboard 200, he ties Bruce Springsteen and Barbara Streisand for the third-most #1s, with 11, trailing only The Beatles (19) and Jay-Z (14).
• Machine Gun Kelly – In the new Hulu documentary “Life in Pink”, he details the paranoia-induced suicide attempt that led to his sobriety from hard drugs. The rapper discloses that while in a state of distress following his father’s 202 death, he put a shotgun in his mouth while on the phone with fiancée Megan Fox. Fox and his 12-year-old daughter helped him realize he needed to “kick the drugs”.
• Mötley Crüe – Tommy Lee’s wife, internet personality Brittany Furlan, revealed on Snapchat how he broke 4 ribs prior to the band’s “Stadium Tour” with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett, limiting him to drumming on about 4 songs each night. According to her, he fell down the outside stone steps at the “cool, quirky” old house they were renting in Nashville.
• Alan Parsons — underwent an “urgent spinal surgery” on Friday, and postponed a series of tour dates as a result. He had been gearing up to support the launch of his new album “From the New World”, out July 15. His daughter posted that he’s facing a “lengthy recovery time.”
• Eagles – During their headlining American Express Presents BST Hyde Park show on Sunday night, Don Henley hinted that the band could be winding down. The 74-year-old said to the crowd: “In case we don’t pass this way again, I want to thank you all for embracing these songs, taking them into your hearts and your homes – we appreciate it.”
• Eric Church – sipped tequila with ex-NBA superstar Michael Jordan over the weekend. They got together at a rooftop eatery to watch NASCAR with the Graduate Hotel founder Ben Weprin. They sipped on Cincoro Tequila, which is co-owned by Jordan. LINK:  https://tinyurl.com/yeyvurmc
• Walker Hayes – has shared a teaser of his new song ‘Y’all Life”, out July 15. A video shows him sitting in the dark with only his hands and guitar illuminated, while he plays a country-meets-rock melody. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bd9vrapr
• Luke Combs – explained why he pledged to keep tickets to his 2022 “Middle of Somewhere” tour at the same price as before the pandemic. While he can’t do much about the cost of everything going up, one thing he can control is his own ticket prices. To him, playing to a packed house is the most important thing, after all, “I didn’t get into it to be Jeff Bezos and be the richest guy in the world.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

EXCHANGE CHANGE:
Things are tough all over. How tough? Some stores are considering the unthinkable: paying you to keep the items you planned to return. What, now? Bear with me, it starts to (sort of) make sense. In recent weeks, some of the biggest US store chains, including Target, Walmart, Gap, and American Eagle have reported that they have too much inventory, ranging from workout clothes to spring jackets and hoodies to garden furniture and kids’ toys – and it’s costing them tons of money to store it. And returned merchandise, only adds to the storage problem. So stores are considering just handing customers their money back and letting them hang onto the stuff they don’t want. How does that work? In cases where a company determines that the item a customer is returning would cost them more to store, restock, or refurbish, they would advise the customer to just keep or donate their return, and still give them their money back. Reportedly some companies are “100% considering” the “Keep it” returns policy for later this year.
(But…the reason I return stuff is because either it’s broken, or I don’t want it!)
(I’m already creating a “Keep It Returns Exchange” Facebook page!)

FLY IN THE SKY IDEA:
People have been left aghast by a video demonstrating a potential AI-piloted aircraft that “would never land”. The concept of the “Sky Cruise” is basically a giant flying hotel that boasts 20 nuclear-powered engines and would have the capacity to carry 5,000 passengers in “the epitome of luxury,” suspended high above the clouds. Berlin-based designer Hashem Al-Ghaili calls the aircraft the ‘future of transport’, explaining that conventional airlines would ‘ferry’ passengers to and from Sky Cruise, which would never touch the ground and would have all repairs carried out in-flight. A greatly detailed video also promises restaurants, a gigantic shopping mall, a gym, theatre and even a swimming pool – all in the sky. Sky Cruise also features a panoramic hall, offering breath-taking 360-degree views of the outside. Al-Ghaili promises no air turbulence, jet-lag, or motion sickness.  When asked how many pilots it would take to fly the Sky Cruise, the designer responded: “All this technology and you still want pilots? I believe it will be fully autonomous.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bde62yrv
(Judging by that, I’m guessing that’s an AI voice in the video, too?)

FUNNER SUMMER:

It looks like one heckuva summer for Gen Z and millennials. A new survey asked 2,000 of them about their summer plans and two-thirds said they’re going to be the busiest they’ve ever been. How busy? 67% of Gen Z respondents and 65% of millennials have overbooked themselves, saying they RSVPed to almost every event they’re invited to this season. The survey, by OnePoll, found that on the average person’s calendar, there are already 3 weddings, 3 birthday parties and 3 family getaways, among other events.
(Wait, the summer invites have already gone out?)
(You BET it’s looking like a busy summer! I’ve already RSVPed “can’t make it” to 2 weddings, a reunion, and 3 family barbecues!)

SCAMS THAT ARE SO NORMALIZED, WE DON’T EVEN NOTICE THEM:
(According to Reddit users . . .)
✓ “The fact that someone cut a chicken wing in half and managed to convince everyone it was 2 wings.”
✓ “‘Service fees’ are just an artificial way to pretend prices are lower than they really are. ‘That’s only $15!’ (plus $10 in service fees). Just say it’s $25!” (…and “no service fee!”)
✓ “Cups with so much ice that you only get 4 ounces of a drink in a 20-ounce cup.”
✓ “The fact that existing customers aren’t automatically moved to better deals once their contract ends. They hope you won’t switch companies and will pay the premium.”
✓”Insurance. You spend most of your life giving them money; then, when you need it, they turn over every stone to figure out how to deny you.”
✓ “Fast fashion. The reason your clothes don’t look good soon after you start wearing them is because they were made to break/fade after the first wash so you’ll keep buying more and more.”
✓ “Free trials that auto-enroll you at the end.”
✓ “Employers not giving raises that at least match inflation. Essentially paying you less money compared with the last year.”
✓ “Needing experience for an entry-level position.”
✓ “Women’s razors and other unnecessarily gendered products.” (It’s pink, it doesn’t work as well AND it’s more expensive? Sign me up!”)

DID YOU KNOW?
A new study shows that over a 10-year period, women packed on significantly more pounds than men. Brigham Young University scientists tracked nearly 1,400 American adults for a decade. More than half saw their body weight increase by at least 5%, while over a third gained 10 % or more body weight. Women gained an average of about 12 pounds (5.4kg), while men gained an average of about 6 pounds (2.7kg) during the same time frame. Going by age, young adults were likely to put on the most weight, averaging a 17.6 pound (8kg) increase between ages 20 and 30. (Rookies!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Camera Day”, which has unknown origins, but we always turn our ‘focus’ to cameras and photographs on June 29th. It was calculated that in 2017, we took over 1.2 trillion digital photos (Check Instagram for some of these ‘valuable’ contributions … mostly involving cats)
• “Hug Holiday”, encouraging us to give hugs to those who really need them. Aimed at the elderly, sick and lonely, and anyone who needs the warmth, cheer, and love that a hug provides. Be sure to ask first! (If you knew my Aunt Betty, you’d be asking for a holiday FROM hugs today!)
• “Waffle Iron Day”, celebrating the awesome kitchen gadget. The waffle dates back to the 1300s in Greece, where flat cakes were baked between 2 metal pans. At the time, they topped it with cheeses and herbs. (What’s the weirdest waffle ingredient or topping you’ve heard of? For us, it’s turkey stuffing!)
• “Parchment Day”, parchment paper may first have been made from animals and used for writing, but for the past few centuries, it has also been made from plant-derived cellulose and used for cooking, and is also known as culinary parchment, kitchen parchment, baking paper, and bakery paper.
• “Almond Buttercrunch Day”, a combination of toffee covered with chocolate, and sprinkled with toasted almonds. (It’s definitely worth a special day to me!)
ALMOND FUN FACTS:
✓ Chocolate manufacturers use 40% of the world’s almonds.
✓ It takes more than 1.2 million beehives to pollinate California’s Almond crop (over 550,000 acres).
