Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ (***CAUTION: “A-hole”***) Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have revealed that they have donated money to two organizations helping feed those in need amid the coronavirus pandemic. Reynolds wrote via Instagram: “I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an a–hole.” If you’re able to help, visit, @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada.” The couple have given $1 million to food charities that are working overtime during the health scare in both the U.S. and Canada.

★ The coronavirus has shuttered movie theaters around the world, leading some to speculate that Hollywood will accelerate towards a streaming-only future ahead of schedule. Disney took steps in that direction when it recently released “Frozen 2” on its Disney+ streaming service three months early, and moved up the digital release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. And now Universal is making three of its movies available for on-demand viewing while they’re still playing in theaters. (The ones that are still open, anyway…) By the weekend, “The Invisible Man”, “The Hunt” and “Emma” will be available to rent on digital platforms for $19.99 for a 48-hour window.

★ Jared Leto probably wishes he was still in the desert. He recently emerged from a 12-day desert-based silent meditation, where he was completely cut off from the outside world — and thus from any news of the coronavirus pandemic. On Instagram, he wrote: “Wow. 12 days ago, I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility.” Leto is known for marching to the beat of his own drum and told his followers he “Walked out…into a very different world” and he finds it “Mind-blowing…to say the least.”
(The funny thing is that he was doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing – socially isolating!)

★ Carol Burnett says that Lyle Waggoner “was funny, kind and multi-talented. But even more than that, a loving friend”. Waggoner, known as one of the stars of “The Carol Burnett Show,” died Tuesday at age 84. He appeared in over 170 episodes of the variety show, voicing various characters as well as working as announcer on the show between 1967 and 1974. He also starred in the “Wonder Woman” TV series as ‘Major Steve Trevor’.

• Miley Cyrus – Demi Lovato was one of the first guests on her new Instagram Live TV series, “Bright Minded: Live with Miley”. Production began Monday for the daily program, which features experts and celebrities detailing their practices for staying positive during the coronavirus pandemic.
• Pink —  As tours are halted, productions shuttered and movie theaters are closed, she is one of many singers comedians and other talents who have taken to social media to continue to entertain — many of them live performances. On the heels of Patton Oswalt doing a comedy set on his lawn, others who have streamed performances include Chris Martin, Burton Cummings, and Jann Arden, plus jokes from David Spade.
• Ariana Grande — An obsessed fan showed up at her front door on the weekend after somehow managing to bypass security. After police were summoned, the man was arrested and a love note to Grande was found, along with directions to her home. He faces charges including trespassing and felony battery for allegedly spitting on one of the cops during the arrest.
• Madonna and Katy Perry — are among the stars who were tricked by viral clips of quarantined Italians singing and dancing to what appeared to be their songs from their balconies. Fans apparently dubbed the clips with audio from concerts, and it wasn’t long before they caught the attention of the acts themselves. • The Pretenders – will release their 11th studio album, “Hate for Sale” on May 1. The first single, ‘The Buzz’, which compares substance abuse to a relationship, is already streaming. Hate for Sale is the band’s first album since “Alone” in 2016.
• Ozzy Osbourne — Andrew Watt, who served as producer and guitarist on his new “Ordinary Man” album, has revealed that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. He has been in quarantine since March 6, and wrote that he is recovering but still dealing with some of the effects of pneumonia. He has also worked with Justin Bieber, Post Malone and Camila Cabello.
• The Rolling Stones — are the latest act to postpone their tour plans as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 North American leg of their No Filter tour, which was scheduled to start May 8 in San Diego and conclude in Atlanta on July 9, has been delayed indefinitely.
• Blake Shelton – may look different next time you see a picture of him. He tweeted: “With basically EVERYTHING I had scheduled being canceled for the foreseeable further @gwenstefani and I have made a decision together. I am growing my mullet back as a symbol of hope or some (stuff) like that. Anyway, it’s coming back! For real. Stay tuned…”
• Keith Urban — performed an impromptu concert via Instagram Live from his Nashville basement to entertain fans stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was joined by his wife Nicole Kidman, who danced and sang along to the 30-minute set. The video is still available on Urban’s Instagram.

GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE:
(If you’re sick and tired [literally, or not] of hearing about COVID-19, here are some good news stories:
➠ Scientists have invented contact lenses that can correct red-green colour blindness. (But there is still no way to make men see more than one shade of purple…)
➠ A potential universal flu vaccine has passed an important set of clinical trials. (If that means I’ll only need one shot for the rest of my life, I’m all in!)
➠ A clean method for hydrogen fuel production has been developed, and it’s 25 times more efficient than existing methods. That could mean zero-emission vehicles in the future. (As we speak, the government is working on how to properly tax it to death…)
➠ A flawed paper that blames the Sun for climate change has been retracted. (Although you have to admit, it DOES have some effect…)

BALD-FACED LIE:
You may have seen or heard recent reports saying that men with beards should shave them in an effort to protect against the coronavirus. Sometimes the story is accompanied by a graphic from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which shows over 30 different facial hair styles. It turns out that graphic is from 2017 and is completely unrelated to the current coronavirus outbreak – or any other illness. It was created to simply show that some beard styles can interfere with face masks. So, for the record, according to several fact-checking organizations, having a beard is not going to make you any more susceptible to catching the coronavirus infection or make any mask unfit for use if it sits well on your face. The CDC does not recommend shaving off your face fuzz as a preventive measure.
(You do know that I’m going to need about 6 months of social isolation to grow that back…)
(And for those who already have, who are you again?)
(But if you DO decide to keep it, wash that baby like you tell your Mama you wash your hands!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Contrary to what many people believe, hand sanitizer does NOT provide long-lasting protection. Similar to washing your hands with soap, which literally washes germs down the drain, hand sanitizers containing alcohol simply kill whatever is on your hands at that moment. Neither keeps your hands clean longer than a few minutes. “As soon as you’re done washing or using a gel, there is no residual effect. You can re-contaminate your hands right away,” according to Philip Tierno, a clinical professor in the department of pathology at New York University Langone Medical Center. Re-contamination happens as soon as you touch common surfaces, like banisters, elevator buttons, or counters.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Spring Arrives”, the new season officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere with the Vernal Equinox tonight at 11:49 pm EDT. It also marks the beginning of Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, although some countries observe the meteorological beginning of Fall on March 1.
SCIENTIFIC REASONS SPRING IS THE MOST DELIGHTFUL SEASON:
– Temperatures are moderate. In many areas over the Winter, they are horrific.
– More daylight. Exposure to sunlight increases serotonin in your brain, making you feel happy.
– Animals and birds that have migrated come back, and they’re having babies everywhere.
– Trees sprout leaves. Spring leaf growth ensures a cool canopy during the hot Summer.
– Plants turn green. It’s amazing what a little sunlight, moisture and warm soil can do for them.
– Flowers bloom. Science has proven that just looking at buttercups can make you happy.
– Your pets shed their extra-thick fur, making them trimmer and more full of life.
– You can open your windows and allow the breeze to refresh your home.
– You get vitamins naturally. Sunlight triggers your body to produce vitamin D, for instance.

• “Chocolate Caramel Day”, an annual celebration of everything great about chocolate and caramel. (Like cavities?)

• “Poultry Day”, celebrating chicken, turkey, and other farm-raised fowl that we commonly consume. Plus, they give us our breakfast eggs. (And if they had a say in it, we’d celebrate by eating pork!)

• “Client’s Day”, a day created for the purpose of letting all of your clients know just how glad you are that they’ve chosen your company.

• “Let’s Laugh Day”, laughter decreases stress hormones and increases antibodies, boosting your immunity to all sorts of illness and disease. Laughing also helps relax your muscles and helps you de-stress. Plus, it improves your blood pressure and decreases pain. And, laughing actually burns calories – how about that?

• “Proposal Day”, when both men & women are encouraged to pop the big question. Coincidentally it’s also “Kiss Your Fiancée Day”. (Who do you think are the most eligible celebrity singles?)

• “St Joseph’s Day”, the day that the swallows traditionally return to the Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, an excuse for the annual “Fiesta de las Golindrinas”. Every March 19th since 1776 (with few exceptions), the birds have come back to usher in Spring in the Southern California seaside town, and their return is now an annual tourist attraction.
