BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Wu-Tang Clan MC Method Man is adding TV co-host to his résumé by fronting a new rap battle series called “Drop the Mic” alongside model Hailey Baldwin. The series is co-created by Ben Winston and “Late Late Show” host James Corden. Each episode pits 4 celebrities against one another competing to spit the best rhymes; the winner is decided with help from the audience. The show begins airing on TBS May 2nd.

★ A character based on Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been scrubbed from the script of filmmaker Luc Besson’s new nuclear submarine movie. The film “Kursk” was set to feature an actor resembling the Russian president but the character is no longer part of the script about a real-life nuclear sub accident in 2000, the year Putin came to power. It would have marked the first depiction of Putin in a studio film. Besson has decided not to use the character, because he doesn’t want the film to become political. (And apparently wants to continue living.)

★ 76-year-old actor Patrick Stewart (“Logan”) admits to using medical marijuana on a daily basis. 2 years ago in Los Angeles he was given legal permission to purchase an ointment, spray, and edible marijuana medicine in order to combat the symptoms of arthritis in both hands. He says it has significantly reduced the stiffness and pain. He can now make fists, which wasn’t the case before he began the treatment. (He also now really ‘gets’ the song “Freebird”.)

★ And here are this week’s celeb hacks …
1. Emma Watson (“Beauty & The Beast”) is taking legal action against hackers who’ve stolen personal photographs of her. A rep assures fans none of the pics are nudes, despite reports to the contrary.
2. Mischa Barton has obtained a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend amid suspicions he’s responsible for attempting to leak a sex tape featuring the former “OC” actress. The explicit video has already been offered up to various adult film companies for release.
3. Pregnant actress Amanda Seyfried (“Mamma Mia!”) has unleashed lawyers on a website featuring intimate shots of her. Photos of her with an ex-boyfriend have appeared on CelebJihad.com and her legal team is demanding they be taken down immediately.

GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE:
In a rare bit of positive news from the animal conservation world, scientists say they have vastly low-balled the penguin population on Antarctica. The off-base estimate pertains to Adelie penguins (the adorable “Happy Feet” variety) and it turns out there are 3.6 million more of them than previously thought. A team of Australian, Japanese, and French scientists now think there are 5.9 million of these birds occupying a 3,100-mile stretch of east Antarctica. From that projection, they’ve pegged the total Adelie penguin population on the continent at 14-to-16 million. The Adelies, named after the wife of the French explorer who discovered them in 1840, are only found in Antarctica. (The bad news … Earth being overwhelmed by Adelie penguins!)

YOUR KID WILL STICK THIS IN HER HAIR:
The latest hit in the crowdfunding world … Lego-compatible tape. ‘Nimuno Loops’ adhesive tape is covered in Lego-like bumps, and according to its Indiegogo campaign it works with not only Lego blocks but Mega Bloks, Kreo, and other building systems. It comes in rolls, so it can be cut to size; it’s flexible, so it can be used to build around corners; and because the tape is soft, you can stick it to your floor and walk all over it (unlike Legos). Its creators set $8,000 as their crowdfunding goal but the project has already raised over $600,000 and the campaign doesn’t end for another month. 11 bucks gets you 2 rolls of tape, which come in green, blue, red, and grey. ‘Nimuno Loops’ are being called so simple that it’s surprising Lego didn’t think of it long ago. (Its lawyers are no doubt looking into a way of claiming Lego did.)

The “White Cliffs of Dover” singer is marking her milestone birthday (officially on Monday) by releasing the new album “Vera Lynn 100” today. That makes her the only centenarian to release an album.
