Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “The Big Bang Theory” is shaking things up for its final episode by taking out one of its biggest elements (science joke there) – the audience. Kaley Cuoco says that that they won’t be using a live audience, instead the episode will be pre-recorded it to try and avoid emotions boiling over too much. Quote: “We’re actually going to pre-shoot the whole thing, so we’ll have shot it, and then we will have an audience taping. That was probably because they knew I’d be crying the entire time.”

★ Sarah Hyland’s health battles continue.  The “modern Family” star, who has undergone two kidney transplants, was hospitalized late last week.  She posted pictures from her hospital bed to her Instagram Stories, but didn’t explain the reason she was in hospital this time.  She had previously told her followers that she was fighting a fever of 101.4, and that she was battling pink eye and a viral respiratory infection.

★ Brie Larson is making her directorial debut with the Netflix film “Unicorn Store”. She stars as a woman called Kit who is expelled from art school and plants herself on the couch for days, until a surprise comes along to cheer her up. Her childhood dream of having a pet unicorn looks like it may come true courtesy of a salesman played by Brie’s Captain Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson. The movie had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival two years ago, but will finally be available on Netflix April 5.

★ Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried have joined the cast of the upcoming animated ‘Scooby-Doo’ film. Efron will voice the role of Fred Jones, while Seyfried will star as Daphne Blake. They join Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez, Tracy Morgan and Frank Welker in the cast. She has taken issue with statements made in online videos by Latasha K and Starmarie Ebony Jones, and is demanding an injunction to have all of the relevant clips taken down.
• Adele –hit the town in New York City Friday night with her pal Jennifer Lawrence.  They partied at the gay bar Pieces, and at one point the drag performers invited Adele onstage, and asked her to introduce herself. She said: “Hi, my name’s Adele, and actually at the moment I’m a stay-at home mum.”

• Elton John – “Rocketman” biopic director Dexter Fletcher says that movie bosses requested that a 40-second scene in which Taron Egerton, who plays John, and Richard Madden as Elton’s manager John Reid are lying together naked on a bed. But Dexter has taken to Twitter to insist that the movie will be a ”no holds barred” account of John’s life.
• Bryan Adams — ended his concert in Melbourne on Thursday night playing to a half-empty arena.  Hundreds of fans went home at the intermission because staff thought the gig was over, not realizing that Adams had played all his hits at the start of the show so he could focus on new material after the break.
• Carrie Underwood – her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, has just become an American citizen. In a post on Instagram stories, Fisher shared: “Big day I’m officially American” as he waved a mini American flag. He was born in Peterborough, Ontario.
• Jennifer Nettles — On Friday, she released the video for ‘I Can Do Hard Things’, focusing on female empowerment with real women sharing their stories.  The video, which she calls “an inspiration and call to action,” features seven women speaking out about everything from sexual assault to single motherhood and caring for the disabled.

OVER-REACTING:
We’ve all been a part of one of those incredibly irrelevant arguments about which way to hang the toilet paper roll.  Well, it turns out that your preferred hanging technique also speaks volumes about who you are as a person.  Relationship expert Gilda Carle conducted a what she called “The Toilet Paper Personality Test”, where she surveyed more than 2,000 men and women, asking them whether they self-identified as “dominant” or “submissive,” and also—you guessed it—how they hang their TP. Everyone who claimed they were dominant also happened to hang their toilet paper over, while people in the submissive camp were “unders”.  She cautions that if there are two ‘overs’ in one household, it can lead to conflict—while with two ‘submissives’, nothing will ever get done.
(What if the only reason I only hang it ‘over’ because she tells me to!)
(Personally, I don’t care which way it is hung. I just wish my kids would grab a new roll when they finish the last one!)
(As long as the cat can’t get at it, I’m happy!)

FLORIDA MAN:
(***Caution: Contains “farted”***)
A new challenge making waves on social media pokes fun at Florida’s reputation for producing strange news stories involving guns, drugs, booze and reptiles — or a combination of the four.  If you didn’t hear about it when it went viral last week, the challenge invites participants to Google their birthday and the words “Florida man” to see what headline pops up. A few recent examples…
• “Florida man beats ATM, says it gave too much cash.”
• “Florida man, drunk and naked, allegedly set house on fire in failed cookie baking attempt.”
The idea is that you then post your result on social media.  The less-common “Florida Woman” subgenre has produced headlines such as “A Florida woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault without intent to kill after she reportedly ‘farted loudly’ in a Dollar Store and then pulled a knife on a man who complained.”
(There is nothing I can say to top that…)
(As always, TGIF…Thank God it’s Florida…)

NORTHERN LIGHTS – MARKED DOWN FOR THIS WEEKEND ONLY!
The Northern Lights weren’t quite so “northern” on the weekend. A geomagnetic storm, caused by a cloud of charged particles ejected from the sun, was expected to make the legendary light show, the aurora borealis, visible as far south as Iowa, Colorado and Washington, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center. Auroras form when charged particles from the sun collide with Earth’s atmosphere. When there is an influx of charged particles during geomagnetic storms, this can supercharge the aurora’s glow.
(So if your Colorado friend was going on about “green skies” on social media…it had nothing to do with legalization!)

CANADIAN SLANG WORDS OTHERS DON’T UNDERSTAND:
☞ Caesar:  A Bloody Mary is the closest equivalent for our friends south of the border, but it’s just not the same. (They are as different as tomato juice and clamato juice, but only one of them properly cures a hangover…)
☞ Freezies:  NOT Freeze pops!  In Canada, they’re Freezies. (and no self-respecting Mom would be caught dead in the summertime without a pair of scissors to open them!)
☞ KD:  Canadians love their Kraft Dinner, so much that they’ve shortened the traditional mac-and-cheese meal to just those two beloved letters. (Now, pass the ketchup!)
☞ Hydro bill:  Most call it their utility bill or electric bill.  Hosers call it their hydro bill.
☞ Toboggan:  Americans like to go sledding in the winter…but Canadians will always prefer tobogganing. (Even if we can’t spell it…)
☞ Timbit:  The Tim Horton’s (coffee shop) Timbit is an important aspect of Canadian culture, where our friends in other places still call them donut holes.  (And don’t get me started on “double-double”!)
☞ Pencil crayons:  To some, they’re colored pencils, but any true Canadian knows they’re pencil crayons. (And have known it since grade 1, NOT the first grade!)
☞ Dart:  Canadian slang for a cigarette, as in, “I’m heading out back for a dart.” (And for the record, a pack of real darts would be cheaper!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Elon Musk’s favorite job interview question for potential employees is this:
“You’re standing on the surface of Earth. You walk one mile south, one mile west, and one mile north. You end up exactly where you started. Where are you?”
Answers:  You are either at the North Pole, or anywhere that’s one mile outside a one-mile in circumference circle around the South Pole.
