BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Fifty Shades” star Dakota Johnson made a splash at the Global Citizen Festival, but it wasn’t because of what she was wearing…or not wearing.  Johnson revealed her phone number to the whole crowd.  The actress told everyone there that she will be waiting for their personal sexual assault stories via voicemail in any language.  From the stage, Johnson said: “I want to help you—women and girls around the world—tell your story.”  This year’s Global Citizen Festival was mostly focused on fighting against sexual harassment and assault, and other stars brought awareness to it as well, including Janet Jackson and Janelle Monáe.

★ Marvel is getting set to initiate its next five-year plan, dubbed Phase 3 and Phase 4. From Captain Marvel to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, here are all the release dates for Marvel’s upcoming films over the next few years:  The next movie slated for release is “Captain Marvel” on March 8.  The highly-anticipated follow-up to “Avengers: Infinity War” drops on May 3rd, and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” hit theatres on July 5.  And finally, the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie is scheduled for release sometime in 2020.
(They couldn’t think of catchier names for Phase 3 and Phase 4?)

★ Cher says that when she dies, she is sending all her friends and relatives to Paris, so they can all party in the French capital. Cher wants to go out with a bang and doesn’t want her wake to be a sombre affair.  She told an interviewer: “I want all my friends and family to go to Paris and have a big party.”
(Is this an “over-Cher”?)

★ David Beckham is buying a pub. The retired footballer and his friend Guy Ritchie – who already owns the Lukin pub in west London plus his own brewing company, are splashing out £3 million (US $3.9 million) on the Walmer Castle in Notting Hill and they are said to be planning an extensive redesign of the new business.

★ Frank Sinatra’s widow Barbara may be continuing her feud with her stepchildren, even a year after her death. Her estate is auctioning off their father’s art and memorabilia at Sotheby’s New York in December. The auction of 300 objects, including Barbara’s jewelry, is expected to raise $3.5 million. But some items — photos of the Rat Pack, scripts for “Ocean’s 11” and “From Here to Eternity” and a Norman Rockwell portrait of Sinatra — have priceless sentimental value, at least to his children.  Sources say that there was bad blood between Sinatra’s children and their stepmother for decades.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Michael Jackson — A new book says that he pleaded with Hollywood bosses to let him play James Bond. In his tell-all memoir, super-agent Michael Ovitz writes that in a meeting in the 1980s, Jackson stated his case to play 007, causing Ovitz’s business partner Ron Meyer to struggle to keep a straight face.  It was explained to Jackson that he wasn’t the right build for the character and that he was also ”too sensitive” for the part.
• Kanye West:  announced on Twitter on the weekend that he would now like to be referred to as “Ye”.  Kayne, also known as “Yeezy” and “Pablo” to some, wrote: “the being formally [sic] known as Kanye West…I am YE.” (Sounds Presidential, don’t you think?”)
• Ariana Grande – told fans on Twitter that she is unsure whether she will tour to promote her new “Sweetener” album because being away for long periods of time is “scary” to her right now.  Her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died on September 7, and last year, her concert at Manchester Arena was targeted by a suicide bomber who killed 22 people.
• Dave Grohl — has announced plans to auction the instruments he used to record his recent solo project “Play” with the proceeds to benefit “organizations that help young generations of new musicians ‘just play.’” The sale happens Oct. 9-21, and will also include new instruments donated by manufacturers, with every item autographed by Grohl.
• Jimi Hendrix — has been voted the ‘Greatest Guitarist Of All Time’ by readers of the Louder website.  Over 70,000 votes were cast in the poll, with Hendrix topping the list, followed by Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
• U2 — Bono says he ”doesn’t know” if U2 will tour again after their current “Experience and Innocence” tour.  The 58-year-old says that performing night after night isn’t as easy as it used to be, especially in the wake of his much-publicized mystery brush with death two years ago. Quote: ”I can’t do as much as I used to…I don’t take anything for granted.”
• Leonard Cohen – His son Adam says a posthumous album of his music will be released next year.  Adam produced Leonard’s 2016 album, “You Want it Darker”.
• Pistol Annies – The supergroup’s highly anticipated third album “Interstate Gospel” will be released on Nov. 2.  They posted online that “The best way to describe this record is that it sounds like [three] women came unleashed and told a bunch of truth.  We didn’t hold back and we’re proud of it.”
• Keith Urban – will ring in the New Year with a free show in Nashville.  The Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville will take place at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, and will also feature Peter Frampton and Caitlyn Smith.  This is Urban’s third year headlining the event.

THIS WEEK’S VIDEO RELEASES:

• “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” (R-Rated, Drama):  On the rocky path to sobriety after a life-changing accident, John Callahan discovers the healing power of art, willing his injured hands into drawing hilarious, often controversial cartoons, which bring him a new lease on life. (Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill)
• “The Catcher Was a Spy” (R-Rated, Drama):  A major league baseball player, Moe Berg, lives a double life working for the Office of Strategic Services. (Connie Nielsen, Jeff Daniels, Paul Rudd)

3 CUPS A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY:
A study review by the University of Southampton and University of Edinburgh has determined that if you want to get the maximum health benefits from your coffee habit, you should aim to drink 3-4 cups per day.  They looked at more than 200 meta-analyses of health outcomes associated with coffee consumption and found that drinking three or four cups per day was associated with a lower risk of heart disease and of death from any cause. Though the largest benefit was associated with drinking that amount, drinking even more than that wasn’t found to be harmful, but the benefits were less pronounced.  Drinking coffee is associated with a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, gallstones, renal stones, gout, some types of cancer, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease. Coffee also drastically lowers the risk of liver cancer and liver disease.
(So you’re saying that I should cut back, are you?)
(This study sponsored by Maxwell House, who remind you that doctors usually err on the side of caution on things like this…)
(It also ensures my co-workers stay healthy…)

DISGUISE NUTS:
The trick-or-treating rules in Bathurst, New Brunswick will be a little more lenient this year, but some feel that city council shouldn’t be putting age restrictions on Halloween at all.  Until now, the city banned trick-or-treating for teens over the age of 14 and set a 7 p.m. curfew for anyone in a costume.  The new rules, expected to pass early this month, make trick-or-treating illegal for anyone older than 16, with an 8 p.m. curfew for all.  The updated rules say those caught with a facial disguise in public after curfew, or anyone over 16 found trick-or-treating can be fined up to $200.  The deputy mayor thinks that council is overstepping its bounds, and points out that homeowners can turn out their porch lights if they don’t want trick-or-treaters past a certain
hour.
(The problem is that when you tell ‘older’ kids that they can’t trick-or-treat, they’ll find a way to get candy…even without a costume…)
(When my kid said “Halloween Rules”, I don’t think this is what she meant!)
(Are we supposed to ask for ID at the door?)

OTHER USES FOR IRISH SPRING:
⇒ Sooth bug bites:  Rub some wet Irish Spring Soap onto the area, then let it dry. Once dry, the bite will stop being itchy.  (And hopefully stop smelling so darn fresh, too!)
⇒ Eliminate stinky shoes:  Cut up a bar of Irish Spring into pieces, then put them in your shoes overnight. In the morning, they will be deodorized and smelling fresh.  (Assuming it’s YOUR shoes that are the problem…)
⇒ Deter Deer:  If deer are finding your garden irresistible, just hang nylons full of the soap around the perimeter.   Deer absolutely detest the smell, so they’ll steer clear.  (Hey…the smell of that stuff keeps MY dear away too…)
⇒ Repel other pests:  Grate it, and sprinkle the shavings in your garden.  Other pests (like bugs, squirrels, etc.) will stay away as well.  (Makes your cheese taste funny, though…)
⇒ Unstick doors:  Rub down the edge of the door, the frame, and the hinges with Irish Spring Soap. The soap will help to keep it opening and closing properly.  (But don’t invite any deer over…)
⇒ Unstick a zipper:  Just rub some Irish Spring Soap along the zipper’s teeth. The soap will help the zipper to unjam and glide more easily.  (Be sure not to do this in public!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Chris Davis finished the season with a .168 batting average, the worst in Major League Baseball history. To be considered a qualified hitter, a batter must reach 502 plate appearances in a given season. Davis made 522.  The once-feared slugger signed a whopping $161 million contract prior to the 2016 season.
