BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ A treasure trove of Kobe Bryant memorabilia found in an abandoned storage locker has been returned to the NBA star’s family. After an abandoned locker in L.A. was recently auctioned off, it was discovered to contain everything from Kobe Bryant shoes to jerseys and even a mink coat from a photoshoot. In total, there were 35 pairs of shoes, jerseys, Lakers practice gear, a Lakers all-access badge, tax paperwork and more. The buyer sold the items to “Storage Wars” star Rene Nezhoda for about $13,000, who planned to sell them on the open market, but Kobe’s widow Vanessa felt the items belonged with the Bryant family — so her reps reached in hopes of working out a deal. Nezhoda says that now, everything has been worked out, with “a number of personal items, worn items, and paperwork sold directly back to the Bryant family”, and some of the items that were NOT worn by Kobe will still be sold for profit.

★ Zac Efron will star in a remake of the Stephen King classic “Firestarter”. The story follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon. The first movie, released in 1984 and starring Drew Barrymore, grossed $17 million at the domestic box office.

★ Dwayne Johnson has revealed the cast for “Young Rock”, his upcoming NBC comedy series inspired by his life. Young Rock will chronicle Johnson’s formative years, with The Rock set to appear in each episode. Bradley Constant will portray Johnson at age 15 and “Marco Polo” star Uli Latukefu will play him from the ages of 18 to 20, when he’s recruited to play football at the University of Miami. Adrian Groulx plays Johnson at age 10, and Johnson’s parents will be played by Stacy Leilua and Joseph Lee Anderson. Production is expected to start soon in Australia.

★ Carole Baskin may have been scratched from “Dancing With the Stars”, but she’s champing at the bit to return to TV. She has revealed that she is “shopping a show with Think Factory.” Baskin said that the series seeks to expose animal cruelty and “will be going after the animal abusers, bringing them to justice and then hopefully getting the animals into accredited sanctuaries.”

• Jennifer Lopez — will receive The People’s Icon award on Nov. 15 at the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards in recognition of her contributions to music, film, television and fashion. She’ll be honored for her performances on stage and on screen, including her 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance.
• Sam Smith — has announced a virtual gig from Abbey Road Studios, and is offering fans the chance to witness the ”special performance” on October 30, the day their new album “Love Goes” drops. Fans who pre-order the album by October 5 will be able to access early bird tickets for $5.
• Michael Bublé – is one of the famous guests on Gary Barlow’s new song ‘Elita’. Colombian singer-songwriter Sebastián Yatra also helps out on the “sultry pop-fusion gem” which will appear on Barlow’s forthcoming album, out Nov. 27.
• Pearl Jam – is among the acts appearing on “Good Music to Avert the Collapse of American Democracy, Volume 2”. The album, featuring 77 previously unreleased songs from David Byrne, Postal Service, Mark Ronson, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and many more, is available today only on Bandcamp. Proceeds go to Voting Rights Lab.
• Sammy Hagar — has announced plans for his annual birthday bash celebration. For more than two decades, he has hosted the event at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico. This year, due to the pandemic, it will be held in Catalina Island, Calif. and broadcast as part of a pay-per-view event. The celebration on Oct. 8 will feature Hagar, his band the Circle plus surprise guests, and will air on the 17^th.
• AC/DC – have released a first taster of their new album, an excerpt of the hard-riffing song ‘Shot In The Dark’. A 30 second teaser video, the first new music from the band since 2014, features the reunited line-up of Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Stevie Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd, with Angus flashing his trademark devil’s horns at one point. • Maren Morris and Kane Brown — are among the half-dozen performers scheduled for the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Oct. 21. • Kenny Chesney – was one of many country artists who took time to remember Mac Davis, the 1974 ACM Entertainer of the Year who died on Tuesday. He recalled Davis befriending him early in his career and making him feel like his art mattered. Chesney wrote: “That was Mac: a giant heart, quick to laugh and a bigger creative spirit. I was blessed to have it shine on me.”
• Dolly Parton – Her new Netflix movie “Christmas on the Square” will premiere Nov. 22. The musical stars Christine Baranski as “wealthy and unpleasant woman” and Parton as an angel. It will feature 14 original songs by Parton.

RUNNING WITH THE GIRLS:
(***Caution-content***) Ahhh…some stories you just save for a Friday. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to exercise in close proximity to…errr…well-endowed women, you may have heard them complain that having breasts makes it difficult to run. To determine if that is true, UK sports-bra retailer “boobydoo” put prosthetic breasts on male runners which were designed to reflect the weight of the average bust size in the UK – 36DD. So, they had four men wearing realistic, prosthetic silicone breasts weighing 1kg. The runners were asked to run a distance based on their fitness and running ability. Their times ‘with boobs’ were then compared with their average without. The four men, on average, ran 12% slower when wearing their “knocker-lockers”. Comments from the test subjects included:
• “The impact was pretty high. My lower back feels a little bit tender right now”
• “I got a stitch early on and I don’t normally stitch (cramp)”
• “The weakness around my knees – I had to slow down, I didn’t feel comfortable going faster, as I don’t want to injure myself.”

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A number of popular TikTok and Instagram influencers have been exposed for faking their luxurious lifestyle by renting a Los Angeles studio designed to look like the inside of a private jet. It turns out that there are now full-blown studios designed to look like private jets, complete with appropriate lighting, and several notable influencers have been using them to deceive their fans. This week, a list of social media influencers who used the fake jet studio, including Kennedy Cymone, who has 1.6 million Instagram followers, was circulating on Twitter. After doing a bit of digging, users found that the place was located in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, and was available for rent to groups of up to nine people, for $64 an hour. (I bet they charge extra for carry-ons, just because they can!)
➢ A group of five newly acquired parrots at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in the UK are being booted from the zoo for squawking obscenities at visitors. After being quarantined together for several days last month due to the coronavirus outbreak, the bold birds had apparently taught each other a colorful vocabulary of curse words. The chief executive of the park said “because they were all quarantined together, it meant that one room was just full of swearing birds.” He added that the birds’ swearing made people laugh, which triggered them to swear more, and because they had also learned to mimic human laughter, “When one swears, one laughs, and before you know it, it just got to be like an old working men’s club scenario where they are all just swearing and laughing.”

A study has found that there really is a ‘flirting face’ in women, and men are naturally able to spot it. A University of Kansas team used Facial Action Coding software to examine how women interact in a social environment and if they can convey their attraction without actually saying anything. Across six studies, most men were able to recognize a certain female facial expression as representing flirting. Women’s ‘flirting’ expressions were found to be different from expressions that have similar features — for example, smiling, and men were able to differentiate the two. (We’re guessing the study took place “pre-mask” …)
