BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Chris Harrison says he plans to “be back” as host of “The Bachelor”. Nearly three weeks after the longtime host announced that he would “be stepping aside” from the show “for a period of time” following his controversial discussion with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, Harrison sat down with “Good Morning America” for his first TV interview since the drama erupted, and said: “It was a mistake…I am an imperfect man, I made a mistake, and I own that.” Harrison also revealed that he is working with “a race educator and strategist” and faith leaders and scholars.

★ (***CAUTION — “a-holes”***) Alec Baldwin has left Twitter, complaining the social media platform is full of “a–holes.” In an Instagram video, he said that the decision came after backlash to a comment he made about Gillian Anderson. He joked about her using her American accent during the Golden Globes on Sunday, when she took home the award for her performance in “The Crown”, which confused many on Twitter who thought she has a natural English accent. Baldwin tweeted, “Switching accents? That sounds… fascinating,” which seemed to be a veiled reference to the controversy surrounding his wife, Hilaria, and questions regarding her accent and cultural heritage. He went on to defend his tweet, saying, “And of course, you can’t do any irony on Twitter. You can’t do any irony in the United States anymore…”

★ Just weeks ahead of the 700th episode of “The Simpsons”, Fox has renewed the long-running animated comedy for Seasons 33 and 34, ensuring its run through at least 2023. The announcement was made Wednesday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, where ‘Homer Simpson’ himself remarked, “Woo-hoo! With any luck, the show will soon be older than I am.” Creator Matt Groening said there are lots of “big surprises” planned…for example: “Homer will lose a hair, Milhouse will get contact lenses, and Bart will celebrate his tenth birthday for the thirty-third time.”

★ Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are about to test their marital bonds by teaming up to host — and compete on — NBC’s new one-hour game show “Family Game Fight.” The show was inspired by Bell and Shepard’s “antics” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which is where the married couple announced the show on Wednesday. NBC describes “Family Game Fight” as testing “brains, brawn and family bonds,” in each episode, where Shepard and Bell part ways and are ‘adopted’ into a family of four as they compete in fun games with a big cash prize up for grabs.

And “Lorde isn’t on social media, but Lorde’s sister reached out to me and was like ‘my sister and I love the song!’”

All 36 copies will be signed by the group. Details: https://www.wutanglegacy.com/
• Kings of Leon — Today, they will release their new album “When You See Yourself” in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT) — the first band to ever do so. NFTs are a type of cryptocurrency, but instead of holding money, they hold assets like art, tickets, and music. The band is dropping 3 types of tokens: One is a special album package, while a second type offers live show perks like front-row seats for life, and a third contains exclusive audiovisual art.
• Foo Fighters – now have the most top 10s in the history of Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, as ‘Waiting on a War’ jumps from #14 to #10. They now have 26 top-10s since the list’s 1988 inception, breaking a tie with Red Hot Chili Peppers.
• Sting — has launched an interactive website as a companion piece to his upcoming album “Duets”. He’ll release the star-studded LP, featuring his iconic collaborations with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, and Shaggy, on March 19. LINK: https://duets.sting.com/
• David Crosby — is the latest star to sell his music catalog and publishing rights. Iconic Artists Group has finalized a deal to acquire Crosby’s catalog, comprising his solo work and songs with The Byrds, Crosby & Nash, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Terms were not disclosed.
• Old Dominion, Ashley McBryde, Lee Brice and Scotty McCreery – are set to perform during the “2nd Ave Strong” benefit. Airing live from Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon on March 26, the show will support rebuilding efforts focused on restoring the city’s Second Ave. neighborhood, which was impacted by 2020’s Christmas Day bombing.
• Midland – CMT will premiere “Midland: The Sonic Ranch Documentary” on March 19. Bassist Cameron Duddy, also a filmmaker and music video director known for his work with Bruno Mars, was tasked with filming as Mark Wystrach and Jess Carson first attempted to create music together in 2014. Duddy ultimately joined as a member. The doc utilizes that footage to tell the group’s origin story. TRAILER LINK: https://youtu.be/3Xw2jXlsku8
• Dierks Bentley – says new music is coming. With ‘Gone’ still climbing the charts, he posted a pic from a recording studio with the words: “Back in the studio with the band working on some new tunes. Album number 10…here we go!”

SHOOTING THE BULL

I’M NOT ‘MAKING THIS UP’:
Apparently, more men are buying makeup these days than ever before – and it’s not because 80s hair metal is enjoying a resurgence. It’s largely due to the work from home trend…specifically due to video conferencing. Google searches for “men’s makeup looks” jumped by 80% last year over 2019, and other booming searches included “covering redness”, “hiding acne” and “hiding bags under eyes”. Bill Wackermann of New York-based cosmetics company Tribe calls it the “Zoom effect”, where North America seems to be catching up to other countries like Japan where there are fewer taboos around men wearing makeup. In addition to moisture and concealer, his company also sells “Eyebrow and Beard Fix”, which fills in gaps in uneven beards, hairlines and eyebrows.
(Maybe someone should tell some of those “experts” that I see interviewed from home every night on the news!)
(OK, men’s makeup…fine. Now, about that hair metal resurgence…can we still make that happen?)
(I’m fine with a Zoom call as long as no one ‘Zooms in’!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A UK company is catching some heat online for selling glass bottles filled with the “freshest coastal air” for up to US $105 each. Coast Capture Air started bottling fresh air and selling it as a souvenir and a talking point about the importance of clean air, but then people from polluted areas of the world started buying them for practical purposes, such as inhaling the clean coastal air every day. Customers told the company that it helped counter the harmful effects of air pollution. The company’s website says: “Each Coast Capture Air signature glass bottle holds fresh coastal air in its purest form, direct from the natural and unspoiled coast lines of Great Britain”, and points out that the air is “bottled at source”. (It sounds like a lot of money, but in their defense, they ARE large bottles…)
➢ Amid the fallout that ensued after it was announced 6 Dr. Seuss books will no longer be published because of “racist and insensitive imagery,” more than a dozen of his books made their way onto Amazon’s best-sellers book chart. As of Wednesday, copies of “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street Hardcover” were listed at prices of $800, $1,500 and $2,000. A copy of “On Beyond Zebra!” was listed at $1,500, and a copy of “McElligot’s Pool” was going for $1,000.  (***CAUTION***And yet, somehow, no one has a problem with “Hop on Pop”?)
(I do not like Seuss in my home.
I do not like him on my phone.
I don’t like him yesterday or today.
I want to sell him on E-Bay.
I do not like Seuss I want him gone.
Let’s make some bucks on Amazon…)

DID YOU KNOW?
A report from Independent Security Evaluators (ISE) found fundamental flaws in computer password managers that expose user credentials even while locked. The researchers say, this renders them “no more secure than saving passwords in a text file”. The ISE evaluated 1Password, Dashlane, KeePass and LastPass, which are used by a total of 60 million users and 93,000 businesses. It found all of them failed to provide the security to safeguard a user’s passwords “as advertised”. Worryingly, in some circumstances, the master password was residing in the computer’s memory in a plain text readable format.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .

• “Poutine Day”, the dish comprised of French fries, cheese curds, and gravy. Poutine is a particularly popular dish in the Canadian province of Quebec, but it is enjoyed in many other places as well.
• Employee Appreciation Day”, when employers are encouraged to express gratitude to employees who make that extra effort. (…by allowing you to keep your job for another day.)
• “Multiple Personalities Day”, saluting the adage ‘We have only one person to blame, and that’s each other.’ (Can people with multiple personalities deduct themselves as dependents on their income tax?)
• “Absinthe Day”, also known as ‘The Green Fairy’, ‘The Green Goddess’ or ‘The Green Lady’, the drink was popular with artists and writers as far back as the 18th century, perhaps because of its rumored hallucinogenic effects. Studies have shown that absinthe’s psychoactive properties (alcohol aside) were exaggerated. (But it DOES make the heart grow fonder…)
• “Cinco de Marcho”, marks the beginning of the season to ‘train’ the liver for St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday known for drinking that is just 12 days away. Today is really the only drinking holiday for people who don’t drink that often. (Well, today and New Year’s Eve…)

SATURDAY-
• “Dentist’s Day”, honoring the professionals who help us maintain a big, toothy smile … for a big fee. The business of dentistry is consistently ranked among those with the highest profit margins. We think it has something to do with a secret kick-back deal with the Tooth Fairy. (You know the drill…)
• “Frozen Food Day”, commemorating the first ‘Individually Packaged Frozen Foods’, created by Clarence Birdseye in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1930. He got the idea after seeing Canadians thawing and eating naturally frozen fish.
• “Oreo Cookie Day”, honoring the taste treat many of us deconstruct before eating. The first Oreos went on sale on this date in 1912. More than 500 billion have been sold since. Some think the name comes from a combination of taking the ‘re’ from ‘creme’ and placing it between the two ‘o’s in ‘chocolate’, – making ‘o-re-o’.
• “Day of the Dude”, promoting the philosophy & lifestyle inspired by fictional character ‘Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski’, portrayed by Jeff Bridges in the 1998 film “The Big Lebowski”. Many consider ‘Dudeism’, a modern form of Chinese Taoism, as a mock religion. NET: http://dudeism.com

SUNDAY-
• “Be Heard Day”, a time for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and solo professionals to find their voice, tell their story, and be heard (If you want to be seen, stand up. If you want to be heard, speak up…and if you want to be appreciated, shut up!)
• “Cereal Day”, a day to share in the delights of crunchy n’ crispy breakfast cereals. Celebrated on the anniversary of the world’s first corn flakes being served to Dr John Kellogg’s sanitarium patients in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1897. (***See ‘BS RANDOM JOKE’, below***)
NET: http://www.lavasurfer.com/cereal-guide.html
• “National Crown Roast of Pork Day”, it earns its name when a pork loin is formed into a circle with the ribs pointing upwards, forming the points of a crown. Often, they are held together with twine. It is then seasoned, and often stuffed, then roasted and served. The ends of the bones may be given a paper frill treatment for added decoration.
