★ The cast of “Veep” will reunite to raise funds for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and aid Joe Biden’s campaign for the White House, according to a tweet from star Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Joining her will be will be Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, Sam Richardson, Tony Hale, Timothy Simons, Clea DuVall, and Matt Walsh, along with showrunner David Mandel. Wisconsin is one of several key battleground states in the presidential election. Fans can view the virtual reunion, which will be livestreamed this Sunday, at 7 p.m. ET, by making a donation.

★ “Malcolm In The Middle” actor Frankie Muniz and his wife Paige Price are expecting their first child together. He took to YouTube to announce the happy news, saying: “We were shocked and thrilled to hear the news that we’re going to be parents. Nothing compares to hearing your little one’s heartbeat…”  In the video, Paige revealed that they are “15 weeks along and counting.” The couple got engaged in November 2018 and wed earlier this year.

★ Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins are in talks to be the next cast members of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. The plan is that Hutchins would be the main cast member and Jenner would be considered a ‘friend’ of the show and would pop in occasionally. Sophia is already friendly with current cast members Lisa Rinna, and Caitlyn is tight with Harry Hamlin. In other words, it would be a natural transition if it were to happen.

★ Some of the world’s biggest stars will put adults to sleep when HBO Max’s new show, “A World of Calm”, hits screens in October. Idris Elba, Nicole Kidman and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are among the celebrities who will feature in the new series, which is based on the popular “Calm” app for users with anxiety and trouble sleeping. The 10 half-hour episodes promise to “[transport] the viewer into tranquility through scientifically-engineered narratives, enchanting music and astounding footage to naturally calm your body and soothe the mind.”

• Rihanna – Her Savage x Fenty line is moving into menswear — with help from Diddy’s son, model Christian Combs. The new collection includes satin monogram print pajamas, boxers, trunks and even a smoking jacket. It will be featured in her runway show on Amazon Prime on Oct. 2, along with performances by Travis Scott, Lizzo, Halsey and more.
• BTS – will release BE (Deluxe Edition), the follow-up to 2020’s “Map of the Soul: 7”, on Nov. 20th. According to the official announcement, “The new album imparts a message of healing to the world by declaring, ‘Even in the face of this new normality, our life goes on.’”
• Ozzy Osbourne – is already working on a follow-up to his “Ordinary Man” album, which he released in February. Quote: “It’s what gets me up in the morning, and it’s what I’m here to do.” He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last year, and has credited making his most-recent album with saving his life.
• Derek & the Dominos — 50th Anniversary editions of their “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” will be released on Nov. 13 on 4LP and 2CD sets. Both versions will feature plenty of unreleased material. The album is often regarded as Eric Clapton’s greatest musical achievement.
• Van Halen — original bassist Mark Stone, has died at an unknown age after a battle with cancer. He played alongside drummer Alex Van Halen and guitarist Eddie Van Halen in the pre-Van Halen bands Genesis and Mammoth, and was a member of Van Halen from 1972 to 1974, when he was replaced by Michael Anthony.
• Carrie Underwood – celebrated the release of her first Christmas album, “My Gift”, on Friday by buying a copy for herself at Target. She’s also starring in an HBO Max Christmas special highlighting songs from the record.
• Zac Brown Band — Multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook and his wife, Brooke welcomed their third child on Friday. Cecilia “Ceci” Ellen Cook was born in Newnan, Georgia, weighing 7 lbs., 11 oz. The couple chose their daughter’s first name in honor of the patron saint of music.
• Chris Stapleton – has shared the second song, ‘Cold’, from his upcoming album “Starting Over” which drops on Nov. 13. The album features 11 songs that were co-written by Stapleton, as well as three covers: John Fogerty’s ‘Joy Of My Life’ and Guy Clark’s ‘Worry B Gone’ and ‘Old Friends’.

You know that awkward feeling when you’ve left home and suddenly have that moment of doubt when you wonder if you remembered to turn off the stove or lock the door? Well, technology to the rescue! Instead of making the trip back home, possibly for nothing, soon you’ll be able to check on the inside of your home…with a security camera-enabled flying drone. “The Ring Always Home Cam” actually flies around the INSIDE of your home and allows you to see what’s happening there in real-time. It flies predetermined paths set by the user, meaning you’re not stuck with the one view you set the camera to before leaving home. It can also be used with an alarm accessory to fly “appropriate paths” to check for disturbances when a sensor is triggered. The Ring Always Home Cam will sell for US $250 when it becomes available next year.
(And getting it stuck in a ceiling fan isn’t the worst thing that could happen – but it’s definitely up there!)

GETTING INTO HOT WATER:
One of the great pleasures for some people, especially in COVID times when you might be seeing a bit TOO much of your loved ones, is to close the bathroom door, light some scented candles, pour some nice wine, and soak in a hot bath. That’s probably a good idea, because now scientists are saying that by enjoying a hot bath (or a hot tub) regularly, you could be setting yourself up for significant health benefits. A Japanese study of 1,300 people with type-2 diabetes found that in addition to relaxing us and, you know, cleaning us, baths may be a vital tool capable of staving off cardiovascular diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. How do baths benefit our health? The study author thinks we may benefit from heat therapy similar to the way we benefit from exercise. Previous studies have suggested that heat stimulation could improve insulin sensitivity and enhance energy expenditure, which also happens during exercise. Bathing also increases blood circulation, body temperature, and the production of nitric oxide, which are all good things.
(Health benefits or not, I refuse to soak where my teenager’s feet were less than 12 hours before…)

Hey look! It’s another one of those “weird dream job” opportunities! A luxury resort in the Maldives is looking for a live-in book lover to assist guests on their ‘reading journeys’. The eco resort of Soneva Fushi, on Kunfunadhoo Island (southwest of India) is looking for their latest “barefoot bookseller” to run a small shop on the private island, which is, as the owner puts it, “pretty much COVID-free”. The job application calls for “excellent written and verbal English skills; a lively tone of voice to write entertaining blogs and newsletters that capture the exhilarating life of a desert island bookseller, and the skills to host workshops and events”, as well as “a can-do attitude with a strong understanding of working independently”. How’s the pay? We’re not sure, but the last time the job was advertised, they received applications from everything from “White House press corps, film directors, lawyers, IT managers, beach poets, and retired librarians.”

The team, from the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard and the Florida Institute of Technology, believe that simply analyzing if there’s water on the surface isn’t enough to determine if there’s life on another world. In a report, they say both the Moon and Mars lack an atmosphere that would allow liquid water to exist on their surfaces, but the warmer and pressurized regions under the surface “could allow the chemistry of life in liquid water.”
