Monthly Planning Calendar in Today’s Issue!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
“Star” magazine is once again reporting that Ashton Kutcher is cheating on Demi Moore, just as a 23-year-old woman has lawyered up after telling RadarOnline.com that he slept with her just this past weekend (biggest sign there may be a problem: prolific Twitterers Kutcher and Moore have both gone quiet) . . . Courtney Cox’s ex David Arquette (“Scream” films) has confirmed reports he’s dating Christina McLarty, the TV reporter ex-wife of “Girl’s Gone Wild” founder Joe Francis (their marriage lasted an entire 7 weeks) . . . “Us Weekly” reports famous person Jessica Simpson is postponing her November wedding to ex-NFLer Eric Johnson due to her ‘inability to decide on a wedding venue’ (or maybe she found out his football career is truly over?) . . . . 52-year-old former “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander is showing off a new look, what he calls a ‘semi-permanent hairpiece’ (BS translation: Rug) . . . A couple of interns who worked on the hit movie “Black Swan” are now suing the studio because all they were asked to do was fetch coffee & lunch orders (do they not understand the definition of ‘intern’?) . . . Actress Marisa Tomei tells Conan O’Brien that she has taken part in George Clooney’s burgeoning tradition at his Italian estate on Lake Como – skinny-dipping (they co-star in “The Ides of March”, opening October 7th) . . . Eva Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”) & Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) have been named the ‘Highest-Paid TV Actresses’ in a new “Forbes” magazine listing, each making $13 million over the past year (a lot of money for 23 hours work!) . . . And it looks like the Zooey Deschanel comedy “New Girl” is the new TV season’s breakout hit, retaining 92% of its premiere audience for the 2nd episode and thereby causing FOX-TV to give it a full-season pick-up (how come it’s the big money, high profile new shows that always seem to bomb?).

WEEKEND SHOW BIZ SKED:
• “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC/CHCH) – Tonight Gavin DeGraw (Chariot”). Rerun.
• “Last Call With Carson Daly” (NBC) – Tonight The Horrors (“Skying”).
• “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (NBC/CTV2) – Tonight Pearl Jam closes out ‘Floyd Week’ by performing their rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Mother”.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Death Cab For Cutie – Tonight in Cincinnati OH they begin a new leg of touring in support of their most recent album “Codes & Keys”.
• Jason Aldean – Proceeds from his concert in Roanoke VA tonight go to a cancer charity as part of his 6th annual “Concert For the Cure”. Opening acts are Chris Young and Thompson Square.
• Lady Gaga – She’s suing a marketing company that’s attempting to trademark her name. Excite Worldwide LLC is refusing to withdraw its application to use the names ‘Lady Gaga’ and ‘Lady Gaga Fame’ to sell their line of cosmetics & accessories. Hey Lady, you snooze …
• Rihanna – First she stripped down to her undies for a scene in her now-shooting “We Found Love” video just a day after going topless for the same shoot; then she stunned staff at a fast food restaurant in Northern Ireland by leaping onto a table and performing a sexy dance routine as she filmed more scenes. How to be a role model, girl!
• Sting – Saturday night he celebrates his 60th birthday (October 2) with a special charity all-star concert featuring Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige, will.i.am, and more at NYC’s Beacon Theatre. All proceeds benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, a charity that helps fight poverty in the Big Apple.
• TI – He’s throwing a homecoming brunch in Atlanta GA on Sunday to celebrate the completion of his prison sentence. He served 10 months of an 11-month sentence for a probation violation and was released to a halfway house earlier this month. TMZ.com reports the party will cost an estimated $100,000.
• Tony Bennett – At the age of 85, he’s achieved his first #1 album on the sales chart with “Duets II”, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That makes him the oldest living artist to do so.

CURMUDGEON CALLS IT QUITS:
This Sunday Andy Rooney does his 1,097th and final segment on “60 Minutes” (CBS) at the ripe old age of 92. The cantankerous commentator has been entertaining, enraging, and enlightening us with his irascible observations on the show’s “A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney” feature since 1978. He was born in 1919, the same year the Green Bay Packers football team was founded, prohibition began, and the 1st air passenger service began. He started working for CBS News in 1949. (Love him or hate him, you gotta admit he’s one of a kind.)

LEARNING ADDICTION:
In South Korea, there’s a big problem with students … studying too much. No, seriously. It’s become so bad that the government has started raiding study halls to stop students from studying. And to reduce the country’s addiction to private, after-hours tutoring academies (called ‘hagwons’), authorities have begun enforcing a 10 pm curfew – even paying citizens bounties to turn in violators. (Well thank goodness your kids don’t suffer from this law-breaking behavior!)
– “TIME Magazine”

WHY BUREAUCRATS ARE BONEHEADS:
A new Stanford University study gives a clue as to why interactions with low-level civil servants and other clerical workers can be so infuriating. The research paper, titled “The Destructive Nature of Power Without Status”, concludes that people in positions with power (ie: drivers license bureau) but low social status (ie: drivers license bureau) often use their authority to torment people. The researchers conclude that by putting people in demeaning roles, it leads them to demean others. (“Take a number and I’ll get back to you … when I feel like it.”)

DID YOU KNOW?
A recent poll finds most Canadians would prefer to have a relationship with someone of average weight (78%), average height (66%), and average income (59%). (How to go, Canada … reach for the middle!)
