A Bull in Hand Is A Sheetload of Fun!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ Anjelica Huston has revealed that she had a “bout with cancer”. In an interview with People, the 73-year-old actress said she was diagnosed after the release of her film “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” in 2019. She called it a “very serious moment”, but said she “managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself.” Although she didn’t reveal the type of cancer she battled, Huston said it came as “a big shock”, and made her conscious of “taking life too seriously”. As a result, she said: “When the opportunity arises, I laugh, and I try not to make a big deal out of things.” Now, Huston says, she is “in the clear”.

★ Viewership for “Adolescence” just keeps growing, with the UK crime drama now outpacing “Bridgerton,” “The Night Agent,” and “The Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix’s most-watched TV list of all time. In racking up 114 million views in under a month, Adolescence has become Netflix’s #4 most-watched show ever, jumping up from #9, where it sat last week. Now, the only TV seasons that outpace Adolescence are “Wednesday” Season 1, “Stranger Things” Season 4 and “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”

★ Mariska Hargitay will direct an HBO documentary centered on her mother, actress and Playboy model Jayne Mansfield. Hargitay calls “My Mom Jayne”, “a search for the mother I never knew, an integration of a part of myself I’d never owned, and a reclaiming of my mother’s story and my own truth.” The project, which comes almost 60 years after Mansfield’s death in a car crash when Hargitay was just 3 years old, will debut on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

★ Have mercy! The picturesque San Fransico house, occupied by the Tanner family on “Full House”, is off the market. The iconic residence has sold for the whopping price of $6 million. Fans would remember the familiar landmark, as it was seen 1987-95 in exterior shots while the series — starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier — aired for 8 seasons, and again during the 2016 revival “Fuller House”. The inside of the home was never seen on camera, but it is said to be equally impressive. Built in 1883, it was purchased by Full House producer Jeff Franklin in 2016 for $4 million, with the hopes of turning it into a tourist attraction. After renovating it, he sold it in 2020 for $5.4 million.

★ We’re not sure who needs to know this, but a third “Angry Birds Movie” is coming. Paramount takes over as distributor from Sony Pictures, which released the first “Angry Birds Movie” in 2016, grossing $352 million worldwide. Then came a 2019 sequel that didn’t fly nearly as high with $152 million, though the films have been very popular on streaming over the past 5 years. Angry Birds 3 is scheduled for release on January 29, 2027.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Kendrick Lamar and SZA – Their collab ‘Luther’ is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 7th consecutive week. That’s longest spent at the top for a rap hit in more than 4 years. Only 24kGoldn’s ‘Mood’ ft. Iann Dior (8 weeks), and Roddy Ricch’s ‘The Box’ (11 weeks) have spent more time at #1 this decade.
• Maroon 5 – Adam Levine has confirmed the group’s first album since 2021 is on its way. Appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, “The Voice” coach said, “I cannot divulge all the details, but…there’s a song coming…at the end of the month-ish…Album is coming over the summer.” He also indicated the band will tour “in the fall-ish.”
• Blink-182 – have announced the “Missionary Impossible” US tour, set to start Aug. 28 in Hollywood FL. In addition, Mark Hoppus’ new memoir “Fahrenheit-182” dropped on Tuesday. In it, he details his battle with cancer, and his “awful” date with Melissa Joan Hart, among other things. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5n6efff3
• Madonna – She and Elton John have “finally buried the hatchet” after being at odds for decades. When she went backstage following his “SNL” performance, John reportedly asked for her forgiveness — and she gave it. Things first went sour between the 2 divas in 2002, when John described Madonna’s theme song for “Die Another Day” as “the worst Bond tune ever”. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3h97b65x
• Tracy Chapman – is belatedly celebrating the 35th anniversary of her self-titled debut album by re-releasing it on vinyl. The usually reclusive singer last returned to the limelight at the 2024 Grammys to perform her hit ‘Fast Car’ with Luke Combs, who had a monster hit with his country cover version.
• Eagles — have announced what is being billed as the “final” shows for 2025 of the band’s residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. They’ve booked 8 concerts there this fall, starting Friday, Oct. 3. Tickets go on sale Good Friday. The band’s Sphere residency now totals 44 shows since it began in September. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/r22nk5sp
• Shaboozey – ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ has now been at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 40 weeks. That’s the second-longest reign ever, after Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s ‘Meant To Be’, which held the top spot for 50 weeks.
• Blake Shelton – Recently he’s been shooting “The Road”, the new music competition show he developed with “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan. But that doesn’t mean he’s ready to make the jump to acting, like Tim McGraw did in Sheridan’s show “1883”. Quote: “I’ve never really had the acting bug.” Besides, he said: “I feel like movie stuff is like you’re locked down for months at a time.”
• Stagecoach Festival – If you aren’t able to attend the 2025 show, you’ll still be able to watch. Amazon Music has renewed its partnership with Stagecoach, and announced that livestream coverage will begin at 4pm each day from April 25-27 via Prime Video and Twitch. Headliners for the sold-out event include Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs.

SHOOTING THE BULL

EASTER DREAM EGG:
Just in time for an Easter feast, Cadbury has unveiled what it is calling the “world’s largest” Easter Crème Egg. How big? Let’s just say that even I’d be hard-pressed to eat it all in one sitting. Here’s how Cadbury puts it: It is as tall as an emperor penguin, and weighs as much as a newborn horse. To you and I, that means it is 3 feet high (90cm), and weighs 99.2 pounds (45kg). And according to the chocolatier, the whole thing is a legit Cadbury Easter Crème Egg, made of real chocolate, with the real gooey filling, and the signature touch of the engraved twinkle. The ‘wrapping’ had to be painted on, though, because: Have you ever seen a piece of foil big enough for a 100-pound egg? It took 2 days to make, and according to its creators, nobody “gets to eat the egg, unfortunately”. It’s currently on display at the Birmingham, England tourist attraction Cadbury World. SICK STATS:

Well, score one for a workspace with a door! According to a study, workers in small, open-plan offices take significantly more sick days than those who work in private or enclosed offices – and I don’t think we have to guess why. The review, published in Industrial Health, found that employees in open-concept offices take 62% more sick days on average than those with personal offices. According to the study, the risks are built into the design. Those include:
• Increased exposure to germs — one person’s cough becomes everyone’s problem
• More noise and more interruptions — reducing focus and increasing cognitive fatigue
• Lack of privacy — employees feel constantly “on”, with nowhere to decompress
• Elevated stress levels — linked to higher cortisol and emotional exhaustion (which is pretty much the result of the previous 3 points, PLUS the fact that you have to listen to Steve’s vape pen and Kayla complaining about her hairstylist all day long!)
The study authors say that in addition to higher rates of absenteeism, the end results of having a team working in small open-plan offices include lower productivity and morale, and greater employee turnover, especially among high-performers.
(Of course, if you DO get sick, then you can go home and work from the ultimate small, open-plan office!)
(Open-plan offices: Where the only thing more contagious than germs are the rumors about the boss’s marriage!)

MASTERS MENU:

If you’ve ever been shocked (not to mention rendered broke) by the prices charged for refreshments at professional sporting events, maybe you should book a trip to The Masters, which starts today in Augusta, Georgia. When they call it a “tradition unlike any other”, it also apparently extends to food prices. If you visit the concession stands at this year’s Masters, you’ll find pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches for just $1.50 each, the same price they’ve been since 2002. Most other sammies, including the Masters Club, and Pork Bar-B-Que, are $3. A new addition to the menu, the savory tomato pie, will also set you back just $3. And if you’re looking for a drink, beer and wine remain $6 apiece, after they increased from $5 last year. Back in 2000, beer was just $1.75 (or 7 ball markers!) The Masters runs through Sunday, and Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the favorites.
(No, actually after hearing this, I think the egg salad sandwiches and a beer are the favorites!)
(What’s the catch? Do I have to caddy?)

UNNECESSARY TECH:
Here are 4 “unnecessary but convenient” gadgets that you don’t need – but they can make your life a little bit easier, according to USA Today . . .
→ Wireless light bulb: Rechargeable light bulbs are an alternative to traditional bulbs. Advantages include the fact they don’t need to be plugged in — or anywhere near an outlet. They’re portable – and often come with a number of color options. (The only problem? When the power goes out and you really need them, you have no idea where they are!)
→ Auto curtain opener: They’re the easiest way to open and close your curtains without – you know — doing anything. The rechargeable, roller devices attach to your curtain rod and are operated via app, eliminating the need to get out of bed or off your cozy couch when you forget to close them. (Plus, it’s fun to close the curtains when you’re away, just to freak the cat out!)
→ Smart planter: It can monitor light conditions, water levels, humidity and temperature, and let you know those are ideal for that plant. And even more info is available to would-be greenthumbs on the app.
→ Window cleaning robot: If a robot can do the vacuuming, why not the windows? It suctions to the surface, then scoots its way across. A remote control makes it easy to start, pause it, or change its direction. (…and from across the street, it looks like a Roomba that’s trying to escape!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Budweiser Canada celebrated the NHL all-time goal scoring record set by the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin in a unique way. The beer maker tipped its helmet to Ovy by sending the 28 goalies who faced Ovechkin during their careers but never allowed him to score, “a commemorative #KingofZero beer can.” Each Budweiser Zero can is “inscribed with the words ‘Zero of 895’” and recognizes the number of career saves that goalie made against Ovechkin. The future Hall of Famer scored his 895th career goal on Sunday, eclipsing Wayne Gretzky’s record. (Somewhere, a goalie is polishing that can like it’s the Stanley Cup!)
