BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Carole Baskin has refused to appear in a reunion episode of “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”. The animal rights activist – who has been very vocal in her criticism of the Netflix documentary about jailed zookeeper Joe Exotic – says she hasn’t been asked to appear, but she would turn down any offer if she were approached. Baskin has been outspoken against the documentary, which focuses on zookeeper Joe, who is currently serving 22 years in jail for a murder-for-hire plot and several federal charges of animal abuse, including violations of the Endangered Species Act.

★ Jennifer Lopez’s wedding has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. She was set to marry Alex Rodriguez in the coming months but now says that she has no idea when they will tie the knot because of social distancing measures currently in place. Speaking to Ellen Degeneres via video link, she said: ”We will see what happens now…Honestly, I really don’t know what’s going to happen now, as far as dates or anything like that. We’re just kind of in a holding pattern like the rest of the world.”

★ Comedian David Spade’s late-night talk show has been axed. “Lights Out With David Spade” will not be returning to Comedy Central when TV gets back to normal after the coronavirus pandemic, but network bosses hope to shop the show to others. Lights Out premiered last year and featured a regular collection of top comedian guests and A-listers like Jim Carrey. The first season of the show was expected to run until June, but “ultimately didn’t deliver audiences that lived up to network hopes.”

★ Leave it to Matthew McConaughey to make things feel alright, alright, alright. On Monday, he hosted a virtual bingo session for residents of The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in Austin, Texas. Quarantining at home with his wife, mother, and children, McConaughey called numbers over Zoom for self-isolating members of the retirement community. The facility had been asking him to host one of their bingo nights since September and he decided that there was no better time than the present.

Lady Gaga – Her One World: Together at Home concert on April 18 will not be a fundraising event. Gaga, the curator for the show, who has already helped raise $35 million to fight the pandemic, told Jimmy Kimmel that viewers will not be asked for money, “mostly because we’re very cognisant of the fact that unemployment is rising and also that people are having a very hard time feeding their children.”
• R. Kelly – A judge has denied his request to be released from jail over fears he’d catch COVID-19. Among several reasons cited are that he’s still a flight risk, and there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at MCC in Chicago where Kelly is incarcerated.
• Nickelback – have a documentary coming. Guitarist Ryan Peake says in the next “month or two we may have something for everybody who wants to see everything Nickelback. Even if you don’t wanna see everything Nickelback, we will have it all for you.” They were scheduled to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the “All the Right Reasons” album on a U.S. tour this summer.
• Green Day — Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says he has written six songs during self-isolation, which will probably be used for the band’s next album. He will also appear in Lady Gaga’s “One World: Together At Home” virtual concert on April 18.
• Mötley Crüe – are among the metal bands to be featured in a new line of branded dog collars. The latest designs from Caninus Collars also feature Motörhead and Slayer to add to their collection which already includes Judas Priest, Misfits and Sick Of It All.
• Luke Combs — This week, he released the music video for ‘Does to Me’, featuring Eric Church, and several of Combs’ fans found themselves starring in the clip. The video is made up of social media posts submitted by fans to tell the story of a regular guy recounting his life.
• Thomas Rhett — has shaved his beard while in isolation during the coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday, he shared a picture of his shaven face with the caption: “First time in 5 years I’ve shaved my beard off … I immediately feel 10 years younger.”
GOING TO GREAT LENGTHS:
We’re all very aware by now of the need to practise physical distancing – but how should we handle it if someone else isn’t respecting your space? Experts say that you are definitely within your rights to ask for physical distance if you feel that someone is coming too close. The first thing to remember is not to lose your temper. That will just make the other person write you off as irrational and not take you seriously. Sometimes, at the grocery store, for example, it just takes a polite reminder like “Would you mind being a little further away from me? That’s not six feet.” If you’re on the sidewalk, it’s smart to look ahead and if you spot a person or couple who are not distancing themselves from others, it might be a good plan to cross the street or change routes. And always prepare for how someone may react. If they get defensive or call you a name because you prefer to maintain physical distancing, the best thing may be to just turn and walk away.
(Fortunately, I’m used to people crossing the street when they see me coming!)
(Some people are so respectful of physical distancing that I could just give them a hug – uh, later!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A Toronto resident has taken their gaming to new heights by projecting video games onto the side of an apartment building. A reddit user posted a video of himself playing Mario Kart while it was projected in larger-then-life style onto the building across from him, with the caption: “Playing Mario Kart during quarantine be like.” It soon evolved into a nightly exhibition of retro games at 9pm. He says he hasn’t received any complaints, and is considering playing movies so neighbors can watch from their balconies when it gets warmer. (When the government says ‘stay’, the people will play – video games…)
➢ A helicopter rescue was needed to airlift a man who had attempted to walk across a mountain range to Spain from France to buy cigarettes during a nationwide lockdown. A local mountain rescue service in the Pyrenees said the man was found “exhausted, shivering, cold and lost”. He was fined 135 euros (US $147) for breaking coronavirus lockdown rules. The local police service tweeted: “We remind you once more. STAY AT HOME”. (Probably still faster than lining up for them around here…)
➢ A policeman who turned up to an apartment to break up a party was shocked to find a woman at home with her cat and having online drinks with her friends. A woman in Scotland had set up the video party to cheer her daughter, who had to celebrate her 13th birthday in lockdown. When a cop appeared on screen at her friend Melissa’s house, he explained to the online party that Melissa had been seen dancing with her cat, and neighbours had assumed she was having a party while the country is in lockdown. (So, the strip-o-gram cop didn’t come until later?)

DID YOU KNOW?
The Malaysian government is dealing with a public relations issue after releasing a series of online posters with advice for women during the country’s partial lockdown. Using the hashtag #WomenPreventCOVID19, the messages instructed women to help by not nagging their husbands. Women were also advised to refrain from being “sarcastic” if they asked for help with household chores. And women working from home were urged to dress up and wear makeup. After a torrent of online ridicule, the campaign was abruptly abandoned.
