★ Yesterday YouTube’s original programming was unveiled. YouTube Red costs $9.99/month. It’s first 3 movies are “Lazer Team” (sci-fi comedy), “Dance Camp” (a dance movie starring ‘young Internet personalities’), and “A Trip to Unicorn Island” (documentary about YouTube comedian Lilly ‘Superwoman’ Singh). The 1st new series is “Scare PewDiePie”, a reality show about YouTuber Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg living out his nightmares. YouTube Red currently has dozens of original programming projects in development and plans to roll out 15-to-20 shows and films in 2016.

★ Tonight the Recording Academy honors multi-time Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin for his ‘commitment to creative and sonic excellence and ongoing support for the art and craft of recorded music’. The event is being held at The Village studios in West Los Angeles in a run-up to this year’s Grammy Awards on Monday. Rubin has worked with oodles of top artists including Adele, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Jay Z, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, and Lana Del Rey. In 2007, MTV named him ‘the most important producer of the last 20 years’, and the same year Rubin appeared on TIME magazine’s list of ‘100 Most Influential People In the World’.

★ 44-year-old writer-actor Justin Theroux says he’s been wearing his credit card out buying presents for Jennifer Aniston’s birthday (today) and for Valentines Day (Sunday). He admits he’s had his work cut out for him coming up with gift ideas for both occasions. After a lengthy promotional trek for “Zoolander 2” (opening Friday), Theroux tells “People” he’s looking forward to having a low-key and casual evening with Jennifer tonight. As for Valentines: “We’re going to probably have a romantic date night,” he says. The actress is turning 47.

★ Brit model Cara Delevingne has sparked rumors she is engaged to singer-musician St Vincent after they’ve reportedly been spotted during a romantic proposal in Paris, France. Reports suggest Cara was seen on bended knee asking her partner (real name Annie Clark), to marry her during a trip up the city’s iconic Eiffel Tower. In December, the pair was reportedly spotted house-hunting in the French capital, where Cara has been shooting the new film “Valerian & The City Of a Thousand Planets”.

★ And ‘Ana’ and ‘Elsa’ are heading to Broadway in a full stage musical based on the mega-hit 2013 animated movie “Frozen”. Disney will bring the adaptation to the NYC stage in the Spring of 2018, through its New York-based theatrical division. It’s the 9th musical and 10th show over all that Disney has brought to Broadway, with previous productions including “The Lion King”, “Tarzan”, and “The Little Mermaid”. “Frozen” was a huge box office success, grossing over $1 billion in worldwide box office. The film is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s story “The Snow Queen”.

• Kanye West – Tonight he’s scheduled to debut his 7th album in a live event during his fashion show at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. The concert is being streamed in movie theaters in some 25 countries. The album has had 4 different titles: “So Help Me God” (2014); “Swish” (2015); “Waves” (2016), and most recently, “TLOP”. So far, no one knows what that means.
• Kelly Clarkson – The pregnant pop star is the latest celebrity children’s book author, penning “River Rose & The Magical Lullaby, a story inspired by her travels with 19-month-old daughter River Rose. The book is due for release this October.
• Luke Bryan – He’s collected 4 iHeartRadio Music Award nominations this week. Bryan is nominated in both of the new categories: ‘Male Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best Tour’. Other country acts receiving multiple nominations include Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, and the Zac Brown Band. The awards will be handed out Sunday, April 3rd at the Forum in Los Angeles.
• Taylor Swift – She leads all nominees for the iHeartRadio Music Awards, collecting 8 nominations, including the 1st ‘Female Artist Of the Year’ award. The Weeknd has received 7 nominations, including the inaugural ‘Male Artist Of the Year’ category.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “Across the River and Into the Trees” – Actor Pierce Brosnan is re-teaming with his “Goldeneye” director Martin Campbell to adapt Ernest Hemingway’s novel for the bigscreen. It’s the story of an American soldier who is diagnosed with a terminal illness while serving in Italy after World War II. Production is slated to begin in Venice in October.
• “Colette” – Brit actress Keira Knightley is in negotiations to play the French novelist in a new biopic. Colette (real name Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette) was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 and her best known work is the novella “Gigi”, which was the basis for both a film and stage play. Filming on the project is scheduled to begin in Budapest, Hungary in May.
• “Invisible Man” – Johnny Depp is set to star in a remake of the sci-fi horror film. It’s based on HG Wells’ classic tale of a chemist who goes on a killing spree after using a dangerous drug that turns him invisible. Wells’ novel has been adapted numerous times since he originally published the story in 1897, with the most famous film version being released in 1933.
• Untitled  Musical Comedy – Channing Tatum & Joseph Gordon-Levitt are teaming up for an as-yet-untitled musical comedy project that’s been picked up by Universal Studios after a competitive bidding war. Little is known about the project so far, but “Hollywood Reporter” writes it will be ‘an R-rated musical comedy featuring two pilots on a misadventure’. And who sing.
• “Woman Walks Ahead” – Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to play the real-life artist who became Native American leader Sitting Bull’s personal assistant. The “Martian” star would portray Caroline Weldon, a 19th-century Brooklyn NY artist and activist who moved to the Standing Rock Reservation in what is now South Dakota to fight for the rights of the Sioux.

FREE BIRTHDAYS FINALLY:
One of the world’s most familiar songs, “Happy Birthday to You”, is finally going to be in the public domain if a proposed settlement is approved. Warner Music has announced it won’t fight a move to make rights to the song public, and has agreed to spend $14 million to end a class-action lawsuit demanding the return of royalties paid to the company over the years. A federal judge, who in September found Warner Music has never actually held any copyright to the song, still needs to approve the deal. The $14 million would likely go to those who’ve had to pay Warner to use “Happy Birthday” since 1949 and toward their legal costs. (“Old MacDonald Had a Farm” will still cost you $1.98 per hum.)

LEGAL FEES CRACK A CRAZY MILESTONE:
Better start digging for more than change in those couch cushions if you’re looking for legal representation. According to Citi Private Bank’s Law Firm Group, large corporate law firms have upped their rates by up to 4% every year since the 2008 recession, with at least one NYC firm now breaking the $1,500-an-hour mark and quite a few others hovering over $1,400. This slow but steady rate climb is taking place despite low inflation and anemic demand for legal services. Law firms say they need to increase their intake to stay competitive with cheaper legal-service providers and in-house corporate lawyers, and to keep pace with rising fixed costs like salaries. (Your divorce will now cost you and a leg … and both ears.)

TODAY’S POT MORE POTENT:
Smoking marijuana isn’t the same today as it was 20 years ago. After analyzing over 38,000 samples of illegal marijuana – including plant material, hashish, and hash oil – seized by the DEA over the past 20 years, researchers have found that marijuana potency is on the rise. Not only have samples of a really potent type of marijuana known as sinsemilla increased from 2010 to 2014, but the level of THC (the main psychoactive ingredient in weed) in samples has jumped from 4% to 12%. At the same time, the amount of cannabidiol (CBD) – believed to have possible health benefits – has dropped. Higher doses of THC bring a higher risk of negative health effects, including psychosis and panic attacks. So why jack it up? Growers can charge more for pot with extra THC. (Especially if they include 2 bags of Doritos with every purchase.)

In developed countries, marriage rates for educated women over the age of 30 drop off steeply. In most cases this isn’t because they don’t want to be married but rather because educated women are beginning to significantly outnumber educated men.
