You’d Better Bull-ieve it!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kevin Costner just might be making a “Yellowstone” comeback. He told “CBS Sunday Morning” that he’s willing to return to the hit series, which recently started production on the second half of its 5th and final season. Costner said: “If I like the story, where it was going, I would go back”. Costner played rancher ‘John Dutton’ for 4½ seasons before he exited, and started working on “Horizon: An American Saga.” But according to him, his reason for leaving Yellowstone had nothing to do with his new multi-film movie western, he had simply completed “everything that I was contracted to do with Yellowstone.” There were, however, reports of a feud with creator Taylor Sheridan.

★ Armie Hammer addressed his 2021 sex scandal that resulted in accusations against him ranging from rape to cannibal fantasies, on friend Tyler Ramsey’s podcast “Painful Lessons.” Hammer was shocked by the public response to the latter charge, telling Ramsey: “People called me a cannibal. Like I ate people. What?! You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! How am I going to be a cannibal?” Hammer also said that he’s in a 12-step program following an “ego death” he went through after the accusations surfaced, saying at the time he was drunk, high, and “acting like an idiot all the time.”

★ Neverland Ranch has been cleared as the site of a major filming location for the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic “Michael”. About 300 people were given permission to shoot on the infamous property north of Santa Ynez in California, according to a film permit. Jackson’s real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson plays the late King of Pop in Antoine Fuqua’s film, which is scheduled for release next April. The 12,000-square-foot mansion was purchased by billionaire Ron Burkle for $22 million in 2020 – a fraction of the $100 million asking price.

★ Martin Scorsese is planning to shoot a documentary in Sicily about ancient shipwrecks in the Mediterranean Sea that will bring the Oscar-winning director back to Polizzi Generosa, the small town where his paternal grandparents were born. The untitled project is based on research by US archaeologist Lisa Briggs, who specializes in underwater archaeology. She uses scientific tools including DNA analysis on artifacts recovered from ancient shipwreck sites, to reconstruct stories of ships, sailors, and maritime trade in the ancient world. Shooting is expected to start this summer.

★ After a remake of the 1980s “Little Shop of Horrors” fell through, a new reboot has been announced. Director Roger Corman was working on a reimagining titled “Little Shop of Halloween Horrors” before he died on May 9. The reimagining is aiming to jumpstart a new franchise and will be directed by Joe Dante, who was to work with Corman originally. Released in 1960, “Little Shop of Horrors” starred Jonathan Haze, Jackie Joseph and Jack Nicholson. A stage adaptation was produced in 1986 that is still entertaining audiences on Broadway. That musical was adapted to cinema in 1986.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Billie Eilish – has become just the 3rd artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify – and she did it with just 82 songs. She follows The Weeknd, who has 107 million monthly listeners, and Taylor Swift, with 102 million – and both have more than twice as many songs on Spotify than Eilish.
• Jonas Brothers — Nick Jonas will return to Broadway next year to star in the latest revival of “The Last Five Years.” Before he took the stage with the Jonas Brothers, Nick was a child actor on Broadway, appearing in musicals like “Annie Get Your Gun”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and “Les Miserables”.
• Foo Fighters — kicked off their UK summer tour in Manchester on Thursday by including a previously unheard Foo Fighters song. ‘Unconditional’, according to a band representative, is a song that was “partially written and demo’d…years ago — but ultimately left unfinished.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdffzk3a
• David Bowie – His 1972-73 Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars tour was one of the most influential of all time. Now, a new box set version of the album and tour is coming. “David Bowie Rock’n’Roll Star”, out Sept. 6 will include all sorts of unreleased material, including alternate takes, outtakes, demos, and rehearsals, plus a half-speed master of the LP, and more.
• Paul McCartney & Wings – In April 1974, they gathered at Abbey Road Studios in London for the filming of a documentary and release of a live album to be called “One Hand Clapping”. The album was finally released last week, 50 years later. The promo video ‘Soily’, is out now. McCartney turns 82 today. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mvjmtzk3
• Luke Bryan – Last week, he launched his new clothing line, the Jockey Outdoors Collection. What’s his favorite item? A shirt designed specifically for fishing, that features “A place to hang your sunglasses … air vents in the back. You can clean your sunglasses on the bottom”, and zippers, because he doesn’t like Velcro. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2wm5pmpp
• Chris Janson – has dropped his patriotic new single ‘All American Guy’. The song, which he co-wrote, highlights various American-centric things he enjoys. Sample lyric: “I love F-250s, Alan Jackson’s ‘Little Bitty’ and the beauty of a small-town life/I like my chili in a bowl, Bob Seger rock ‘n’ roll, football on a Friday night/I love a cold beer can and The Charlie Daniels Band and my woman that I hold all night.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yc599vfd
• Willie Nelson – His new chart record may never be touched. Nelson’s latest LP “The Border”, debuted at #50 on the Top Country Albums chart. That’s his 114th album to appear on the Billboard chart, extending his own record. Nelson now has a total of 152 albums to his credit, and has hit the Top 10 of the Album chart 53 times – and #1 18 times. For perspective, Morgan Wallen has 3 albums.

SHOOTING THE BULL

BOSS LOSS:
It’s the new corporate trend that that you might really want to get behind: Being “unbossed”. Does not having a boss on site sound good to you?  According to Live Data Technologies, middle manager layoffs have increased to more than 30% from pre-pandemic times. This means that as companies cut back on costs and reduce headcount, many workers are finding themselves without a direct supervisor. Employment experts say that while at first, the concept might sound awesome, workers must remember that they still have responsibilities and need to be accountable. In addition, junior workers might miss out on valuable coaching and development that their boss would be giving, if he or she still existed. And some employees who have found themselves without someone to directly report to say not only do they miss having someone to run to with a problem or a question, they also miss the comfort of having someone to bounce ideas off…or simply miss the camaraderie of that supportive voice in the corner office. The perks? Those might include fewer team and one-on-one meetings, and…let’s be honest…the occasional long lunch break or 4-day workweek.
(That happened to me – and I didn’t even notice he was gone…which might have been why they let him go, come to think of it!)
(What’s the first thing you’d do if your boss was let go? I mean AFTER the hangover subsided?)

GETTING YOUR FILL OF CHICK-fil-A:
I’m not saying this is what YOUR kid wants to be doing this summer, but just so you know, a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Hammond, Louisiana, is offering its own spin on a “summer camp” where kids between the ages of 5-12 can learn the chicken sandwich business – for just $35 each. Sounds exciting, huh? Now, before you get all concerned about the thought of a 9-year-old working a deep-fryer, note that the kids won’t be doing any of the cooking. Chick-fil-A says their 3-hour program involves teaching children customer service skills. Employees will act as counselors, giving a kitchen tour and showing the kids how to bag an order. And of course, they’ll have a chance to meet the Chick-fil-A cow. Interest in the program is so high that the first 3 sessions of the service-industry fantasy camp in July were expanded to 6. And this isn’t the first program of its sort. A Chick-fil-A in Houston started the program 6 years ago, and still runs it annually. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdd7e6af
(No wonder: At 35 bucks for 3 hours, it’s cheaper than a babysitter!)
(Boy, THAT’LL look really good on an 8-year-old’s “How I spent my summer vacation” essay!)

SCIENTISTS SAY:
❑ The old saying says that music is good for the soul. But recent research suggests that it might actually be good for the heart. University of Belgrade School of Medicine researchers found that listening to music for 30 minutes a day causes people who have suffered from a heart attack to experience significantly less chest pain and anxiety. Over a period of 7 years, patients on music therapy, on average, had an anxiety score that was one-third lower than the score of patients on standard treatment. Music therapy patients also reported 25% less chest-pain – and significantly lower rates of other heart-related illnesses. (Also good for the heart: beans – at least according to the song!)
❑ Dust off the rubber duckies. A study found that taking a nice bath on a daily basis can reduce your risk of dying from cardiovascular-related issues (heart attack, stroke). While taking a bath once or twice a week is also beneficial, Japanese researchers found that daily bath-takers were in even better shape. Those taking a bath daily had a 28% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease and a 26% lower overall risk of suffering a stroke. What’s more, those who reported bathing in “hot” water, as opposed to “warm” water saw an even lower risk of heart disease. (That doesn’t say much for the current “polar plunge” trend, does it?)

DID YOU KNOW?
Procrastination can be thought of as a negative trait — but what about “procrastination”? Precrastination is considered the opposite of procrastination. This is when you complete tasks as soon as possible — often before they need to be done — simply so you don’t have to think about it anymore. While this may seem like something to strive for, some psychologists believe that prescrastination also has downsides, such as using extra energy on a task, or rushing just to feel the relief of having it done. (Interesting. But I’ll never know!)
