Thanks For Being On Our Sheet List!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Tonight Kristin Davis (“Sex & The City”) makes her Broadway debut as the wife of a presidential candidate in Gore Vidal’s play about politics, “The Best Man” (a role she’ll fill until the show wraps in September) . . . Sony Pictures has announced “The Amazing Spider-Man” will be a trilogy – at least – and here’s why: Worldwide box office after its 1st week totals $341.6 million . . . Actor Alec Baldwin tells “Vanity Fair” it took a long time to move on after a TV producer leaked those irate phone messages to his daughter back in 2007, quote: “I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking in my eyes” (this guy has political aspirations?) . . . According to “Star Magazine”, Katie Holmes has reached out to show biz pal Sandra Bullock for advice in dealing with her divorce from Tom Cruise (maybe that’s why she ‘Blind Sided’ him) . . . Singer Mariah Carey and her “America’s Got Talent” host-husband Nick Cannon are renting a 6-bedroom, 6-and-a-half bath estate in the Hamptons on Long Island this Summer, featuring a ‘Balinese resort-style backyard, a negative edge swimming pool, and floating cabanas’, for which they’re paying $150,000-a-month (that $800-a week cottage you’re thinking of renting … piece a crap) . . . And the man who broke into Sean Combs’ Hamptons home has admitted to – icky – using Diddy’s toothbrush (eww, cooties!).

DUBIOUS FORECASTERS:

We humans are responsible for warming our climate and most of us seem to get that. A recent poll shows that a majority of us now link an unnaturally warming climate to droughts, floods, and other weather extremes. But, according to opinion research by George Mason University, only 19% of TV weather forecasters acknowledge the established science of climate change. An earlier study found that 27% of TV meteorologists call global warming a ‘scam’, while over half deny that humans are its cause. (Seems they got that wrong too … just like today’s weather.)

BEWARE THE BRUSH!

Doctors at a Rhode Island hospital have counted a dozen recent cases of people injured by wayward bristles from wire grill-cleaning brushes in barbecued food – suggesting it’s not an uncommon occurrence. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has now put out a warning. Experts suggest wiping down your grill with a wet paper towel to make sure no wire pieces are left after cleaning. Or, consider alternative cleaning tools. Nylon scrubbers and grill stones made of recycled material can be used instead of wire brushes. (There’s likely worse stuff on your burger, thanks to dad dropping it on the ground before slapping it on your plate.)

RICH RAGE:

In his new book, “The Great White Elephant: Why Rich Kids Hate Their Parents”, Canadian financial adviser Franco Lombardo outlines 3 reasons wealthy offspring often resent the ‘rents …
• Wealthy parents don’t say ‘no’ often enough. Their kids grow up with a sense they can get whatever they want. When they go out into the world and the world tells them ‘no’, they’re angry.
• Rich parents are often absent parents and the kids feel abandoned. When the parents try to make up for lost time with money, their kids get even angrier. You can only make up lost time with time.
• Our society at large makes fun of rich kids. So parents tell them at an early age to hide their wealth. When the kids grow up, they feel a big part of their identity has to remain hidden … and they blame their parents.

NON-WACKY WEED:

Situated in an undisclosed location near Tzfat, northern Israel, is a government-approved medical marijuana plantation which was founded in 2004 by a retired biology teacher. Named Tikun Olam, the plantation has created a new cannabis strain which contains very low traces of THC, the main constituent in cannabis responsible for making people feel stoned. By virtually eliminating THC in a new strain called ‘Avidekel’, it can now offer the medicinal benefits of cannabis to patients who wish to keep a clear head. (Sounds like the most fun since no-alcohol beer.)

THINGS YOUR HOUSECLEANER WOULD LOVE TO TELL YOU:

✓ Don’t ask me to clean your 5-bedroom house in 2 hours. Make sure you give me enough time to clean everything properly.
✓ Please do not ask me to sew on buttons, clean the wheels of your bike, scrub out your mailbox, or pull out the refrigerator in order to clean behind it.
✓ If your house is a disorganized mess it makes it harder to clean. Pick up toys, piles of papers, and clutter from surfaces so I can actually get to them.
✓ It makes me crazy when I’ve just cleaned a floor and my employer walks all over it in dirty shoes.
✓ Tiny kindnesses mean a lot. Please say thank-you, even if it’s just on a Post-it. Little gifts are unexpected pleasures. Those small appreciations keep me honest and make me work harder.
✓ Come home unexpectedly every once in a while and see what we’re doing. Good housecleaners won’t watch your TV, talk on the phone, or eat on your bed.
✓ It’s a huge relief when clients allow me to take my child with me to work. Sometimes I just can’t find a sitter but I still need the money.
✓ Trust me. You hire an AC guy and take his advice, you hire a plumber and do what she says, but I come in and you think you know more about how to clean than I do.

DID YOU KNOW?
• A fish has been discovered in Vietnam that has its genitals on its head. (How efficient! That’s what guys do their thinking with anyway.)
– “New Scientist”
• Most men will lose an average of 1.4 inches in height during their lifetime. (And add about 12 in girth.)
– “Men’s Health”
• A jagged building in London dubbed ‘The Shard’ has been inaugurated as the tallest building in Europe, with a height of 310 m (1,020 ft). The 95-story structure features an observation deck on the 72nd floor, but that’s not opening until 2013. (Dumb timing … too late for the Olympics!)
