You’d Better Bull-ieve it!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Dr. Salvador Plasencia, a physician charged along with 4 others in the death of Matthew Perry, has pleaded guilty to his role in the substance abuse that contributed to the “Friends” star’s passing. As part of the plea deal, Plasencia acknowledged that he “knowingly distributed ketamine” to Perry before his 2023 death, behaved in a manner “outside the scope of professional practice,” and that the drug’s distribution lacked “a legitimate medical purpose.” He faces up to 40 years in prison.

★ Actor David Hekili Kenui Bell — who appeared in Disney’s live-action “Lilo & Stitch” — has died at age 46. His sister Jalene shared the news in a Facebook post, calling him “a generous, funny, brilliant, and handsome little brother” who gave unconditional love. Bell, a proud Hawaiian, who played a character named ‘Big Hawaiian Dude’ in Lilo & Stitch, also appeared in “Magnum P.I.” and “Hawaii Five-0. No cause of death has been revealed.

★ Stanley Tucci is heading back to Italy after Nat Geo renewed his docuseries “Tucci In Italy” for a second season. The series, which premiered last month, has been picked up for another 5 episodes. He’ll meet local chefs, historians, farmers, winemakers, and artisans to uncover the lesser-known culinary rituals that define each region. Tucci is evidently game for an unusual meal, having eaten tripe, lard and salad served in a vase in Season 1.

★ Lionsgate and DirecTV are teaming up on the launch of the Lionsgate Collection, a custom-curated premium channel that will feature the studio’s massive film and TV library of over 20,000 titles. The channel, which will feature titles such as “Weeds” and “Nurse Jackie”, and films such as “Now You See Me” and “The Expendables,” will launch in the coming weeks on the paid TV giant’s satellite and streaming offerings, including MyFree DirecTV.

★ Joey Chestnut is getting hungry – and he told TMZ he’s ready to “drop the hammer” in his big return to the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4 – with an INSANE goal in mind. The world’s greatest eater has just announced that he will again be competing in the Independence Day tradition after a year away due to sponsorship drama — and he’s looking to make up for lost time. Chestnut said it would be a “dream” if he could down 80 hot dogs in the 10-minute contest this year. That would be 4 more than his current event record.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Sabrina Carpenter – ‘Manchild’ has entered the singles chart at #1, her second chart-topper (after ‘Please Please Please’), and first #1 debut. On IG, she posted: “I wrote Manchild on a random Tuesday with Amy and Jack not too long after finishing ‘Short n’ Sweet’ and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life”, referring to Jack Antonoff (who co-produced the song), and Amy Allen.
• Ed Sheeran — The Supreme Court has rejected a copyright lawsuit alleging his 2014 hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ copied chords from Marvin Gaye’s 1973 classic ‘Let’s Get It On’. The decision keeps in place the lower court decision that Sheeran was not liable in the copyright infringement lawsuit.
• Kelly Clarkson — In an “Ask Kelly Anything” video on her show’s YouTube channel, she was asked which song took her the shortest amount of time to write. Her answer: ‘Underneath the Tree.’ Of the 2012 Christmas song, she said: “I ordered sushi and when it arrived, I had written it.” The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard’ Hot 100, and topped the Adult Contemporary chart for 4 weeks.
• Oasis – Drummer Zak Starkey said his double-firing from The Who in April cost him the chance to re-join Oasis for this summer’s reunion – only to wind up without either position. In a new interview with the Telegraph, Starkey, who was a touring member of Oasis from 2004-08, said his commitment to The Who before being sacked, reinstated and then fired again meant he had to turn down the Oasis gig.
• Men With out Hats – The 1980s Canadian New Wave band, known for the hits ‘The Safety Dance’ and ‘Pop Goes the World’, have not only joined TikTok, they also announced in a new clip that they have a new song and video coming out. Premiering June 26, it is fittingly titled ‘I Love the ’80s’. LINK:  https://shorturl.at/qheeV
• Elvis Presley – His granddaughter Riley Keough debuted a snippet of a short film titled “In Process: Riley Keough” on her Instagram page. It gives an intimate tour of Graceland, and it moved Elvis’ fans to remark that seeing Graceland come alive again stirred some deep emotions. The full video is available on YouTube. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4unfk3dr
• Brett Young – told Men’s Journal he cut alcohol out of his “diet and routine” because he is motivated by “longevity…and being around for my family.” He has also gotten back into fitness, and you can see the results of Brett’s lifestyle changes on the cover of his new album “2.0”, out Friday. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/42vmfn7f
• Post Malone – has teamed up with Stanley for a limited-edition collection of drinkware. The partnership introduces a 5-piece lineup featuring Stanley’s signature camouflage pattern combined with coyote brown and bright orange accents. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ykkd9y2y
• Willie Nelson – It’s finally possible to outsmoke him. In a new interview with Forbes, the 92-year-old spoke about his new THC-infused drink “Willie’s Remedy”, and revealed that he “can’t smoke anymore” because his lungs have said: “Don’t do that”. Now, he just enjoys “a few edibles.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

DILL OF AN IDEA:
Instant ramen maker Cup Noodles is releasing a new flavor that’s sure to appeal to Gen Z, young millennials – and especially anyone who follows TikTok trends. Dill Pickle is their latest limited-release, blending tangy, briny pickle vibes with classic instant noodles. Cup Noodles says this mashup tastes “fabulous,” even if it strays from their usual chicken and veggie flavors. It drops this Saturday at select Walmart and Albertsons stores in the US for $1.17. This isn’t their first quirky flavor. They’ve done s’mores and breakfast, too, all part of a plan to roll out more bold options. And with ramen sales booming — thanks to inflation and social media hacks — the timing works perfectly. Meanwhile, Nestlé just entered the game with Maggi noodles from India, offering spicy, globally inspired options. Instant noodles are having a serious glow-up, and it seems the flavor wars are officially on.
(Judging by the evidence before me, I’ve gotta say that I’m pretty sure that someone who’s pregnant is calling the shots at Cup Noodles!)
(OK, I’ll be the one to say it: TikTok officially needs to be stopped. Uh, right after I try this stuff…!)

SNOOZE NEWS:
❑ A nap might sound like the perfect midday treat, but a new study suggests it might not be as harmless as it seems. Researchers looked at over 86,000 people in the UK, and found that those who took longer naps, had irregular nap habits, or snoozed between 11am and 3pm were more likely to die early — even after adjusting for overall health and lifestyle. The findings challenge the idea of the classic “power nap,” especially since those midday snoozes are usually considered ideal. Bottom line: your nap game might need a rethink. (This may be true — but if I DON’T nap, it’s bad for the health of the people around me…!)
❑ Avocados aren’t just for toast anymore—they might also help you sleep better. A new study tracked nearly 1,000 adults with abdominal obesity, asking half of them to eat one avocado a day for 26 weeks. As expected, the avocado group saw healthier cholesterol levels and better overall diets. But researchers were surprised to find another bonus: improved sleep. They think it might be due to the fruit’s rich mix of fiber, healthy fats, potassium, and other nutrients. That said, don’t expect avocado alone to knock you out—it’s one piece of the sleep puzzle, not a magic bedtime snack. (Good. Because it’s also a bedtime snack that costs 3 bucks apiece!)

BATHROOM BREAK:
→ What you do in the shower is your business… but maybe skip the pee break. A viral TikTok sparked debate after a healthcare expert warned that peeing while standing in the shower — especially for women — can mess with your bladder and pelvic floor. Apparently, doing it regularly trains your body to associate running water with the need to go, potentially leading to leakage. Not great. Experts also say standing isn’t great for men, either — it puts pressure on the spine and pelvis, and can increase prostate issues. So yes, even your shower multitasking might be working against you. So, sit down. Your bladder will thank you. (Is it OK if I sit down to pee – in the shower?) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3skcfvkw
→ If you’re looking for a weird new bathroom trend, search no more. Meet “toilet flowers”—fresh blooms placed inside your toilet tank. Yep, the water tank behind the toilet bowl. The trend started with a viral video claiming it would “leave guests speechless” — but most viewers were less than impressed. Comments ranged from “Martha Sewer” to clever nicknames like “pooquet.” Experts and plumbers warned that flushing flower stems and food chemicals can clog pipes and mess up your plumbing. Instead of this gross gamble, a better suggestion might be simply putting flowers in a vase on the toilet lid or elsewhere in the bathroom. That’s much safer and way less messy! (This totally gives new meaning to “pot-pourri”!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mubt2n85

HOW DOESN’T EVERYONE KNOW THIS?

There are many “common knowledge” facts that we don’t realize we don’t know — until someone points them out. Recently, a Reddit user asked: “What’s your biggest ‘how do people NOT know this?’ fact?” Here are some of the best answers…
⇒ “Flammable and inflammable mean the same thing.”
⇒ “All Visa credit cards start with a 4. All Mastercard credit cards start with a 5. All Amex credit cards start with a 3. And Discover starts with 6.”
⇒ “Butterflies have four wings, not two.”
⇒ “The Better Business Bureau is not a government agency. They don’t hold any legal power.”
⇒ “The Underground Railroad was not a literal subterranean locomotive.”
⇒ “Cows have to get pregnant to make milk — they don’t just make milk.”
⇒ “Copy and pasting: Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. The number of people who go through life working in (an) office and have no idea about this is astounding. Truly worrying.”
⇒ “There are 4 quarts in a gallon because they are quarter gallons.”
⇒ “Percentages are reversible. Like, 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8, and one of them is much easier to do in your head.” (Mind. Blown…”)

DID YOU KNOW?
As you might be aware, many Apple and Android smartwatches include features designed to detect falls and collisions, automatically notifying either a designated contact or placing a call to emergency services if it detects particularly jarring movement by the wearer – but these features can be accidentally triggered too. Prior to last weekend’s 3-day Download Festival in the UK, Leicestershire Police took to social media to remind rock fans to either take off their smartwatches or turn off the feature. Why? In recent years, during the music fest, considered by many to be a Mecca for metal fans, around 700 accidental emergency calls were made — as a result of moshing.
