BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
[***UPDATE***] ★ A judge on Monday dismissed Justin Baldoni’s $400m defamation claim against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, after finding that Lively’s accusations of sexual harassment against Baldoni were legally protected and therefore immune from suit. At the center of the complex dispute are claims from Lively and Reynolds that Baldoni had sexually harassed Lively on the set of “It Ends With Us”, in which Lively starred, and Baldoni both acted and directed.
[Caution: Preview for content***] ★ Ryan Reynolds isn’t letting go of ‘Deadpool’ without a fight — or at least some carefully plotted vengeance. Hours after the trailer for the new game Marvel’s Deadpool VR arrived, Reynolds shared a video in which he is seen “overreacting” to the news that Neil Patrick Harris has taken over the voice role of the hero. The vid opens with him sitting at a computer, wearing glasses and a lab coat, similar to that of Harris’ ‘Doogie Howser, MD.’ character. Reynolds narrates: “Today, I learned a lesson about buttholes they don’t teach you in medical school. People who steal your signature role are the biggest buttholes of all.” Spoofing the journal entries that Doogie made on the show, Reynolds continues, saying: “Neil Patrick Harris is an amazing actor…but even though I haven’t hit puberty yet, I still know when you’re getting totally screwed.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/v7c28jwy

★ “The Real Housewives of Potomac” is regaining a former cast member. Monique Samuels will be returning to the Bravo franchise after 5 years. A source told People: “Monique’s in a totally different place now, and fans will see that.” After joining the show for Season 2, Samuels walked away from the show after Season 5, saying: “It’s not easy doing reality TV and, to be quite honest, I’m over it.” But the insider said “She’s excited to show who she is now — not as a wife, not as just a mom, but as a woman starting over and taking on life on her own terms.”

★ Jason Biggs got candid about his previous cocaine addiction in a recent podcast appearance, revealing he hit rock bottom when he “climbed into the trash bin” to grab the last of his drugs. Quote: “I lived in the gray area, but I have ‘snorting dust off the floor’ stories.” The “American Pie” star admitted his early fame worsened his addiction as he “learned very quickly” that people rarely said no to a famous 22-year-old “with money in the bank and coke in my pocket.” He’s remained sober for the last 7 years.

★ It’s practically guaranteed that Lacey Chabert will appear in at least one of Hallmark’s holiday movies each year — they don’t call her the Queen of Christmas for nothing! But this year, we won’t even have to wait that long, as her next movie will see her celebrating a different holiday. Chabert will star in “Haul Out the Halloween” which will arrive on TV this fall. As you may have guessed from the title, Haul Out the Halloween is the third movie in Chabert’s “Countdown to Christmas” movies, following 2022’s “Haul Out the Holly” and its 2023 sequel “Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up”.

★ Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its new disaster thriller “The Lost Bus,” starring Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey. The film, based on the book “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire” by Lizzie Johnson, follows “a wayward school bus driver (McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) [who] battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno,” according to the official logline. “The Last Bus” comes to Apple TV+ and select theaters this fall. BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Olivia Rodrigo – Saturday, she surprised the crowd at New York’s Governors Ball with an appearance from Talking Heads’ David Byrne during her headlining set. The pair teamed up to perform ‘Burning Down the House’.
• Miley Cyrus revealed her old strategy for hiding the money she spent on drugs from her accountant. In a new interview, she said while making her 2015 album “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz”, she said” “The drugs were the biggest cost,” and “To hide those from my accountant, we called them ‘vintage clothes’…she would get these checks of thousands of dollars’ worth of vintage clothes.”
• Sly Stone — The frontman for the legendary funk band Sly and The Family Stone died Monday at age 82. A statement from his family says he died from COPD and other health issues at his LA home, “peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family.”
• The Go-Go’s — Frontwoman Belinda Carlisle will drop her first full-length album since 2017. “Once Upon a Time in California”, out August 29, is a 10-song collection of cover tunes paying tribute to the pop music that “shaped her musical identity.” It includes Carlisle’s take on songs made famous by Dionne Warwick, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Nilsson, The Hollies, Jim Croce, The Carpenters, and more.
• Bruce Springsteen – played Liverpool over the weekend, and was joined onstage by none other than Paul McCartney. The Boss’s intro: “We’re lucky tonight, we have a young man, a local young man, from Liverpool, who’s gonna dance with us tonight. I think he’s got a lot of talent and I believe he’s gonna be going places. So let’s bring out Sir Paul McCartney.”
• Van Halen – Michael Anthony said he would change one thing about his years in music: “The only regret that I have is how things, unfortunately, turned out for Van Halen. It should have gone out with a fricking bang that shook the world, and it was more like a whimper.” He and Eddie Van Halen were still at odds at the time of the guitarist’s death in 2020.
• Rod Stewart – had to axe 6 more shows across California and Nevada as he continues to battle a nasty flu that’s kept him offstage all month. Four are officially scrapped, while 2 have been bumped to September. This comes after he pulled out of a June show in Vegas just hours before curtain.
• Luke Combs – has had a big reaction to the new song he’s been teasing, even for him! After taking most of this year off from touring in order to spend time with his 2 young sons, he updated fans last month, saying he was hard at work on new music, and he thinks this chapter just might be “the best record I’ve ever made.” The new tune is ‘My Kinda Saturday Night’. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/8ru759ve
• Brett Eldredge – He envisioned his new song ‘St. Tropez’ as part of a jazz project, but a writing appointment with Latin Grammy winner Pedro Capó changed that. According to him, “Pedro came in and started dancing and singing the verse…I felt a magic in songwriting that I hadn’t felt before and was so happy to share it with him…it feels like a summertime dream.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/e3t6s8wa
• Keith Urban – He just kicked off his “High and Alive Tour”, and recently revealed how he creates his setlists: “I put a playlist together and Iisten to the songs back-to-back-to-back and just feel the flow from one song into the next — energy-wise, thematically, the key, tempo, everything.” Urban said he spends “months and months over setlists tweaking, coming back to it every couple of days, looking at it.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

GETTIN’ OVER IT:
So, how long does it really take to get over an ex? Turns out, a lot longer than we thought. While the old rule of thumb says “half the time you were together,” new research published in Social Psychological suggests it might actually take around 8 years — yes, years — to fully move on. According to the study, people were only halfway over their exes after about 4 years. Why so long? Well, love isn’t just emotional — it’s neurological. Our brains get hooked on all that dopamine and oxytocin during relationships, and when it ends, it’s basically withdrawal. Breakups also mimic grief, which doesn’t follow a neat, 5-stage checklist. One minute you’re fine, the next you’re crying over their old playlist. And if your identity got tangled up with theirs (which happens a lot), the loss can feel like losing a part of yourself. Bottom line: If you’re still not over your ex, you’re not broken — you’re human. And healing takes time. Apparently, a lot more time that many of us thought.
(Eight years? That’s longer than my last 3 relationships combined!)

FROM ASHES TO FLUSHES:
When your time comes, would you like to be “flushed”, instead of buried or cremated? A new consultation in the UK is exploring “gentler” funeral options, including alkaline hydrolysis—sometimes nicknamed “boil and flush” or “flush and bone.” It’s a process where the body is dissolved in a warm alkaline solution, leaving just bones, teeth, and liquid. The bones and teeth are ground into powder and returned to the family, while the liquid goes down the drain. This method of body disposal, already allowed in parts of Canada, Australia, and Ireland, is seen as more eco-friendly. Now, a movement is gaining traction to allow it in the UK, with some calling it the biggest funeral shift in over a century. Experts say the liquid is safe for wastewater systems. But the real issue is this: People in the UK aren’t quite ready for the idea. As one researcher put it, the biggest hurdle isn’t chemistry—it’s convincing people it’s not like “flushing grandma.”
(Grandma always WAS one to go with the flow…)

DID YOU KNOW?
For many, sporting a Rolex watch, wearing a Gucci shirt, toting a Louis Vuitton bag, and driving a fancy car are, to them, symbols of success and class. Status symbols like those have attracted the rich and famous for years, but a 2018 study found that for all their allure, they can actually turn stomachs more than they turn heads. An international team of behavioral and cultural scientists determined that designer items have a negative impact on new, platonic relationships, causing others to be uninterested in forming a friendship. As one co-author of the study put it: “We may be wasting billions of dollars on expensive status symbols that ultimately keep others from wanting to associate with us.” (So, Shania pretty much nailed it on the head when she sang “That don’t impress me much”?)

BS CHRONOMETER 06.10.25

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Ball Point Pen Day”, commemorating its 1943 invention by Lasalo Biro of Hungary. During WW2, Britain’s Royal Air Force commissioned him to develop an instrument that could write under low atmospheric pressure at high altitude. (Did they not think of using a pencil?)
• “Iced Tea Day”, celebrating the favorite Summer cooler of millions. The origins of early non-alcoholic iced tea recipes can be traced to 1876. A few years later, sweet tea began to take hold in the Southern US. Iced tea’s popularity really took off after visitors to the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis embraced it. (Let’s get this parTEA started!)
• “Herb and Spice Day”. Not only an essential part of flavorful cooking, they can also be fun and easy to grow. (It takes some thyme, though. Sorry.)
• “Egg Roll Day”. It is a deep-fried appetizer served in North American Chinese restaurants, usually a savory roll with shredded cabbage, chopped meat, or other fillings inside a thickly-wrapped wheat flour skin, and usually eaten with a sauce. (You’ll note there’s no egg in there, whatsoever!)
• “Black Cow Day”. A Black Cow is a root beer float – made with vanilla ice cream and root beer. But in some places, a black cow or a “brown cow” is made with cola instead of root beer. And in other places, a “root beer float” has strictly vanilla ice cream; a float made with root beer and chocolate ice cream is a “chocolate cow” or a “brown cow”.
• “Alcoholics Anonymous Founders’ Day”. On June 10, 1935, Bill Wilson and Dr. Robert Smith set out to find the best way to reform alcoholics, and Alcoholics Anonymous was born. (In Canada, the organization is called “AA, eh?”)
• “Frosted Cookie Day”, encouraging us to enjoy the frosted animal cookies that spark joy and creativity for families.
• “Pet Memorial Day”, an opportunity to celebrate the lives of the pets that have a special place in our hearts forever. (“A true friend is gone, but the memories live on…”)
• “Call Your Doctor Day”, founded in 2016 by Bright Pink, a women’s health non-profit, to encourage young women to schedule their annual Well-Woman Exam. (And in many cases, you can set up an appointment online, quickly and securely.)
