Sheet for Brains!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ We’re sure the set of “Dumbo” was a delightful experience and that the finished film will be more than appropriate for young audiences, but star Colin Farrell admitted to Sharon Osbourne on “The Talk” that he definitely had a hand in filling up a swear jar on set. And his young co-stars were quick to name names of others who have just as bad of a potty mouth, specifically Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton. Farrell said that by the end of the film, there was a swear jar that was “rather full,” and that all the money went to charity.

★ Amy Schumer has revealed that her husband Chris Fisher has autism spectrum disorder, which used to be labeled Asperger’s Syndrome. She says that she realized not long after she started dating him that his “brain was a little different”. But she is unfazed by his condition and says that one of the reasons she fell in love with him is because “he keeps it so real” and always tells the truth. As Schumer puts it: “He says whatever is on his mind. He doesn’t care about social norms or what you expect him to say or do.” The two married in Feb. 2018 and are expecting a child.

★ Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara is stepping down after claims surfaced that he promised acting roles in exchange for sex. Earlier this month, WarnerMedia launched an investigation following a Hollywood Reporter story that detailed text messages between Tsujihara and British actress Charlotte Kirk going back to 2013. The messages suggest a quid pro quo sexual relationship between the aspiring actress and the studio head.

★ Leonardo DiCaprio has shared the first poster for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. It features Di Caprio’s character standing in front of the Hollywood sign alongside Brad Pitt’s character. Tarantino’s ninth film is about the so-called “golden age of Hollywood” – and focuses on Charles Manson and his followers’ murder of actress-and-model Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie. It is due out this summer. The first trailer is expected this week.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga — Over the weekend, she updated her profile pictures on Instagram and Twitter with a black and white image of music notes on staffs with the word “GAGA” underneath, echoing one of her recent tattoos. She recently confirmed that her sixth album is on the way.
• Notorious B.I.G. – His mother and Faith Evans are suing a company that makes snowboards, accusing them of using his face to hawk their products without getting permission. The company’s website is still selling snowboards with other rappers but they appear to have removed the one with Biggie.
• Aretha Franklin – Her concert film “Amazing Grace” will open this year’s Roger Ebert film festival in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. The 1972 film directed by Sydney Pollack was stored in a vault for decades, but has now been restored and released.
• Madonna — appears to be teasing artwork for a new song or album. She shared an image of herself cutting up a red apple on her social media profiles and teased that it’s a ”taste of things to come”. In October, Madonna confirmed she was working on her follow-up to 2015’s “Rebel Heart”.
• Jeff Lynne — has handpicked Dhani Harrison, the son of his old friend George Harrison, to serve as the opening act on all dates on Lynne’s ELO North American tour this summer. The two collaborated on the production of George’s final album, 2002’s “Brainwashed”, which was finished after his death.
• Carrie Underwood — is hoping to meet a young fan named Savannah after watching a video of the deaf 8-year-old signing to Underwood’s hit single, ‘The Champion’. Savannah’s father asked for retweets of the video of his daughter, with the “The Champion” video on a big-screen TV in the background. The video eventually made its way to Underwood, who wrote: “Savannah, you’re amazing! I’d love to meet you too!”, along with a winking emoji.
• Brooks & Dunn – are among the newest members of The Country Music Hall of Fame. They will be inducted as this year’s modern era artist. Ray Stevens has been named veterans era artist, and Jerry Bradley the non-performer inductee. The official ceremony will happen this fall.
NOT ‘MYSPACE’ ANY MORE:
Remember MySpace? For many, it was the very first social media network. Well, surprise, surprise…MySpace still exists, and is still in use by many independent musicians and artists who use it as a method of showcasing their work. But they ran into a little problem lately, when about 12 years worth of users’ music, images and videos went VAMOOSE. A notice on the MySpace Music page reads, “As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos, and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago may no longer be available on or from Myspace. We apologize for the inconvenience.” A MySpace rep says that some files were corrupted…and there is no way to recover the data. No one is exactly sure how much data was lost, but it could be some ridiculous number like 50 million songs from 14 million artists. So, you can see the concern. Especially if you are one of the artists whose work was lost.
(New slogan: MySpace: First we lost our shirts, then we lost your music!)
(Does anyone mention MySpace anymore without first saying the word “remember”?)
(Is this a good time to point out the importance of backing things up?)

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR DOG?
Sure, you might force your kids to bathe every day, but how often should you wash your dog? Short answer: Almost never. Dr. Robert Hilton, a Melbourne-based veterinarian who practices in the field of veterinary dermatology, says that people tend to wash their dogs way too often. He says you should only give the dog a bath if he (or she) needs it. And by “needs it”, he means if Doggo looks dirty or if he stinks…or if he has a specific skin disease that requires regular cleansing. Like people, dogs have a protective barrier of oils and cells on their skin, which can be washed away with too much bathing, resulting in problems with dry, itchy skin or even infection. So only force him into the tub if he needs it… And never use human shampoo on your dog. That can cause problems as well. To keep your dog’s coat healthy without bathing, supply a balanced diet of healthy ingredients, brush him regularly, and make sure he gets regular exercise.
(Huh. That’s exactly what he’s been telling me!)
(Awesome…a good excuse to avoid “wet-dog” smell…)
(Where it gets difficult is when your dog is a “roller”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Citizens of the EU and many US states will probably soon be protected by legislation which requires manufacturers of major household appliances and some other products to make their products last longer and easier to repair. Proponents say that appliances are not only manufactured in a way that broken parts can no longer easily be replaced, but they are designed to fail years earlier than they were in the past. This not only costs the consumer more in the long run, it also comes with significant environmental impact. Televisions and lighting are also singled out in the European proposal.

BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “First Day of Spring”, as the new season officially arrives in the Northern Hemisphere with the Vernal Equinox this afternoon at 5:58pm EDT. What does it mean? Our hours of daylight have been growing slightly longer each day since the Winter Solstice in December, which is the shortest day of the year. After three months of lengthening days, beginning today, we finally mark the turning point when period of light exceeds the period of darkness. Today marks the beginning of Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, although some countries observe the meteorological beginning of Fall on March 1.
• “Atheist Pride Day”, an unofficial salute to non-believers that many mark by changing their Facebook profile picture to a stylized capital ‘A’. Green is the chosen color for the day, standing for ‘natural’ as opposed to ‘supernatural’.
• “Extraterrestrial Abductions Day”, honoring all those who claim they’ve been abducted by aliens. (Hey, I’m as fascinated with alien abductions as the next guy, but let’s not get carried away!)
• “Great American Meat Out”, a grassroots movement encouraging us to try going meatless at least for one day. (I tried going meatless for a day once. Worst month of my life!)
• “International Day of Happiness”, adopted in 2012 by the UN in acknowledgment that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal.
• “Proposal Day”, when both men and women are encouraged to pop the big question. Coincidentally it’s also “Kiss Your Fiancée Day”.
• “World Storytelling Day”, a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling.

✓ Ellen DeGeneres was offered the role of ‘Phoebe’ on “Friends”, but turned it down.
✓ “Bob’s Burgers” was originally pitched as a show about “a family of cannibals who runs a restaurant.”
✓ The “Lost” pilot was so expensive that the Chairman of ABC was fired for greenlighting it.
✓ “The Big Bang Theory’s” staff science consultant often used actress Mayim Bialik’s help, because she has a Ph.D. in neuroscience.

BS TIPS ON WINNING YOUR OFFICE MARCH MADNESS POOL:
• Confirm with Siri that basketball is the game with the orange-y ball.
• Pick the team with the tallest players.
• Find out which star players have the least amount of homework due this month.
• Determine which coaches best implement the free-labor model.
• Pick the meanest-looking mascots.
• Don’t pick Duke.
• Remember that the shot clock is longer in college basketball than it is in the NBA so high-tempo teams can be forced to play out of their element by an opposing coach with a disciplined strategy. Then flip a coin.
