BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The “Saturday Night Live” cold open featured James Austin Johnson as ‘Donald Trump’ meeting in the Oval Office with Dana Carvey as ‘President Joe Biden’ and getting visits from some of the president-elect’s new cabinet picks. Johnson’s Trump told Carvey’s Biden: “I am very vastly picking the most epic cabinet of all time. They are some of the most dynamic, free-thinking, animal killing, sexually criminal, medically crazy people in the country.” Alec Baldwin appeared, as Robert Kennedy Jr., saying at one point: “I just wish people would take my appointment more seriously. I gotta go. I got a dead dolphin in my car. I think (I should) saw it in half and dump it in Central Park.”

★ “The Voice” winner Sundance Head was shot in the stomach at his ranch in Texas on Friday. Head, the Season 11 winner of the competition series, was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler, Texas. His wife Misty said he was released late that night after doctors decided not to remove the bullet, as it had missed his internal organs. Sundance Head’s agent said that the singer was the person who called 911, and it is normal for him to go hunting on his ranch alone.

★ The actual fight didn’t live up to the hype, but the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson went all 8 rounds, with Paul coming out victorious via unanimous decision. Immediately afterward, Paul was humble, saying, “First and foremost, Mike Tyson … He’s the greatest to ever do it. He’s the GOAT.” But the real story might have been that many stretches of the broadcast were marked by fans complaining on social media that Netflix had buffering issues, causing blurry video and lagging during the live event, which was watched by a Netflix record 65 million households worldwide. (You didn’t think they’d have a boxing match without “Michael Buffering”, did you?)

★ It’s beginning to look a lot like $34.1 million for the opening weekend of Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ big-budget Christmas action flick “Red One”, which is on the low end of projections. “Venom: The Last Dance” slid to second after spending 3 weekends on top of domestic charts, making about $7.3 million. The Marvel spin-off has now surpassed $120 million in North America and $400 million worldwide. Third went to “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” with $5.4 million.

★ The US Postal Service might have found a way to unite a nation divided after this month’s election: It’s releasing a Betty White stamp. The beloved actress, known for roles in “The Golden Girls”, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, “Boston Legal”, and others, will be on a 2025 Forever stamp, USPS announced on Friday. White died in December 2021, less than 3 weeks before her 100th birthday. No release date for the stamp has been announced.

• Jack White – has dropped the new song ‘You Got Me Searching”, and announced a world tour in support of his album “No Name.” His North American dates fall in February, April and May of 2025. • Kane Brown – His one big regret is the giant “Batman” tattoo he got at age 18. In a recent interview, he was asked about a tattoo that he wouldn’t mind getting rid of. He made it very clear that would be the ‘Dark Knight’ symbol inked across his chest, and added it’s the reason he doesn’t take his shirt off anymore. He’s been working on having it changed or removed for 10 years.
(***Caution: preview***) • Blake Shelton – When he released the song ‘Texas’ on Friday, it was his first new solo song in 2 years, and we may have Post Malone to thank. He said his partner on ‘Pour Me a Drink’ is one of the happiest and most fired-up people he’s ever known, and “It was the kick in the ass that I needed…to remind myself that I don’t want to let this get away from me…by waiting too long.”
• Patrick Murphy — has shared his cover of Bryan Adams‘ 1985 hit ‘Heaven’ as part of his ongoing “The Piano Sessions” series on Instagram. On IG, Murphy wrote: “easily one of my favorite songs of all time and definitely one of my favorite covers to play live.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2wx55hwb
SHOOTING THE BULL
THANKS FOR SAYING THANKS:
If you’ve ever done something for someone around the house, then uttered the phrase “A thank you would be nice”, then you can relate. A simple “Thank you” might be more important than we think, say researchers at the University of Illinois. They found that feeling appreciated by family members isn’t just nice — it is scientifically linked to better relationships and better mental health. AND they found that gratitude from different family members can affect your relationships with them in different ways. According to the research, feeling appreciated by your romantic partner mainly improves relationship satisfaction, while receiving gratitude from your children helps reduce the stress of parenting. And it seems if you have teenagers in the house, their appreciation of what you do goes a long way in improving your mental health. Oh, and something to work on, guys: The research team also found that women in their study reported feeling less appreciated than men did — both by their romantic partners and by their older children.
(C’mon guys, a simple ‘Thank you’ is the LEAST you can do – literally!)
(That part about receiving gratitude from your kids? I’ll let you know if that’s true if and when one of them finally says ‘thank-you’!)

EPIC OZEMPIC:
Weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy – move over. Scientists from the University of Copenhagen have developed a drug that they say decreases appetite AND increases calorie burning — without the nasty side-effect of nausea, which is common with many of today’s weight loss drugs. The researchers say that they set out to develop a medication that would both curb appetite and enhance calorie burning. What they came up with is what they refer to as a type of “NK2R agonist”, which has the added benefit of not causing nausea in lab mice. The once-weekly injection will be tested on people next year, but isn’t expected to be available to the public for 5-6 years, if those trials are successful.
(If you’re looking to lose weight, I still think intermittent fasting is the way to go. I do it about 15 times every day!)
(Well, if THAT isn’t a sign to gorge myself for the next 5 years, I don’t know what is!)

‘TIS THE SEASONAL MENU:
► Last week, Starbucks announced its new holiday (and “Wicked”-themed) drinks for 2024. Returning this year are the classic Peppermint Mocha, and Caramel Brulée Latte. New items this year include the Chestnut Prime Latte, an espresso and steamed milk drink combined with caramelized chestnut flavor, and topped with whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs. You can also look forward to the Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte, a mix of Blonde Espresso and sugar-cookie flavors and almond milk on ice, with red and green sprinkles. The Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai is new too, a tea latte over ice with hints of gingerbread, chai spices and creamy oatmilk. Meanwhile, the new “Wicked” drinks promise to bring a hint of Halloween to the holidays. They include Elphaba’s Cold Brew, combining Cold Brew with peppermint-flavored syrup, matcha cold foam and a “dusting of magical candy sprinkles”. Also available are Glinda’s Pink Potion, a refresher is made with “sweet mango and dragonfruit flavors and coconut milk, topped with strawberry cold foam and sprinkles. (Also “wicked”: How long you’re going to have to line up for one of these things while the barista-dude learns to make’ em!)
► IHOP has announced that it is now the “official breakfast partner” of Xbox, and that means a new themed menu inspired by Xbox’s new holiday game: “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle”. Indy fans can choose from 3 variations of what we are guessing are Indy’s favorite food: Stuffed French Toast. Those include…
• The Great Circle of Cinnamon: Layered with rich cinnamon spread and drizzled with sweat cream cheese icing “that will make you feel like you’ve uncovered an ancient culinary secret.”
• Secret Cookie Butter: Creamy cookie butter and vanilla sauces topped with a dusting of cookie crumbles, reminiscent of the” long-lost treasures found in faraway lands.”
• “Berry’d Treasure: Gemstones of juicy glazed blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries and a drizzle of rich cream cheese icing.
Also available are Cookie Butter French Toast Sticks, Explorer’s Caramel Apple Butter Hot Chocolate, and something called the “Long Lost Cookie Butter Milkshake”. The menu is available starting today. (Milkshakes? WHY did it have to be milkshakes!)

BAD PASSWORDS:
Password manager Nordpass has released its 6th annual study of the 200 most common online passwords in the world. And it seems that many of us (“I’d like to plead guilty”) are still using some obvious – and easily-cracked — passwords to protect their sensitive information. Here’s the NordPass list of 2024’s top 10 most-used passwords worldwide . . .
1. “123456”
2. “123456789”
3. “12345678” (Are you sensing a pattern here?)
4. “password” (God, we’re all doomed…)
5. qwerty123
6. “qwerty1”
7. “111111”
8. “12345”
9. “secret” (I’ve actually never thought of this one!)
10. “123123”
NordPass estimates it would take a hacker less than one second to crack each of these passwords. 2024 is the 5th year that “123456” has topped the list.
(It doesn’t really help that these Nordpass people are putting all my passwords online for the whole world to see…)
(To me, the most popular password has to be about 7 asterisks in a row. I see that all the time!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A new report in The Conversation cautions those who buy second-hand clothing in thrift shops, due to the possibility that their “found treasures” could make you sick. A survey of second-hand clothing shops detected the presence of pathogenic bacteria that can cause skin and blood infections. Parasites which can cause skin infections such as dermatitis and scabies have also been found on second-hand clothing. On some materials, germs can live for as long as 200 days. Experts say all second-hand clothing should be thoroughly washed and stored in a dry environment. (This totally explains why those boots I bought last week got up and walked away…!)
