BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
TODAY & tomorrow some 100 lots of late actor Marlon Brando’s personal effects go under the hammer at Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas, including his script from classic film “The Godfather” (a 2005 Brando auction raised more than $2.4 million) . . . SATURDAY Ice T hosts VH1’s 3rd annual “Hip-Hop Honors”, which pays tribute to Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan, Beastie Boys and others at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom (airs OCTOBER 17th) . . . ABC-TV is planning yet another talent search reality show called “The Imposter”, which will search for people who do a great impersonation of a famous person, be it a musician, actor or athlete . . . Fearing he’ll die from diabetes or high blood pressure, 28-year-old “American Idol 2” winner Ruben Studdard is making a concerted effort to lose weight, and has already shed 50 lbs off his massive 6-ft-4 frame but docs say he needs to get under 300 lbs in order to improve his health (he’s been as hefty as 450) . . . After a recent night on the town, actor Owen Wilson showed up on girlfriend Kate Hudson’s front lawn to drunkenly serenade her with “Can’t Help Falling in Love” while accompanied by a loud boom-box – until neighborhood security guards suggested he move along or they’d call the cops (proving once again that his role in “You, Me and Dupree” didn’t actually require any acting) . . . The inside gossip on the Eva Longoria-Tony Parker split – she was reportedly two-timing him with “Dancing With the Stars” hottie Mario Lopez (appropriately, they’re both former soap stars) . . . And the new issue of “Advertising Age” notes that broadcast TV, long thought to be on the outs, is attracting more viewers than a year ago and the top show of the past few years, “American Idol” (FOX), draws more viewers on average than the top show, “Seinfeld” (NBC), did 10 years ago (don’t be folding up the broadcast radio tent just yet either!).

• “The Departed” ( R-Rated Crime Thriller ): Leonardo DiCaprio & Matt Damon star as undercover moles, one in the state police, the other in the Irish mafia. When discoveries are made on both sides, they’re dispatched to find out each other’s identities. Jack Nicholson, who plays a gang leader, convinced director Martin Scorsese to write in a bedroom scene featuring himself, 2 girls … and a toy. 69-year-old Nicholson is currently bed-ridden with a mysterious neck injury, apparently suffered while attending the film’s NYC premiere. ROID RAGE:
While taking steroids creates bigger muscles, the brain isn’t a muscle and actually shrinks from exposure to the drugs, Yale University researchers say. An ongoing study shows catastrophic loss of brain cells, which in turn causes increased production of the male testosterone, which results in increased aggression, widely known among bodybuilders who refer to it as ‘roid rage’. When cultured nerve cells are exposed to testosterone in experiments, cell ‘suicide’ has been found to occur, as it does in Alzheimer’s and Huntingdon’s diseases. (This goers a long way to explaining those indecipherable post-game interviews with athletes.)

• “A Hard Day’s Night” – The Beatles’ 1964 rock & roll comedy adventure is hailed as the prototype for what later became music videos.
• “The Chelsea Girls” – Andy Warhol’s 1967 underground film, shot on location in NYC’s notorious Chelsea Hotel, depicts the artist’s glamorous entourage conducting their daily lives in front of the camera. It’s said to be a precursor to today’s reality TV.
• “Deep Throat” – The 1972 film brought skin-flicks out of the shadows and into public view. It was the first ‘adult movie’ shown in mainstream theaters and also purportedly the first to have a storyline … of sorts.
