The BS Press!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have reached an agreement regarding the custody of their 2 daughters. Page Six says it has seen court documents stating that the former couple believe an “amicable resolution on all issues between them is forthcoming.” Jonas and Turner have also reached a temporary custody agreement for 3-year-old Willa and 1-year-old Delphine. The girls will remain with Turner through Oct. 21, and the actress is permitted to travel with them throughout the US or UK as she pleases. She’ll deliver the girls to Jonas on the 21st, and they will remain with him until Nov. 2. The pair will continue to hand off custody to each other through January, giving the kids the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their father and Christmas with their mother.

★ An iconic Michael Jackson clothing item is hitting the auction block. The black and white leather jacket the King of Pop wore during one of his “Pepsi Generation” ads in 1984 is up for grabs — and it’ll probably go for a king’s ransome. It’s not from the infamous ad where he burned himself on set — it’s the one where he’s seen dancing in the streets with others. This was the first Pepsi commercial Jackson did, and the jacket will go under the gavel starting Nov. 10 through the Propstore — and is estimated to fetch anywhere from $230,000  to $460,000.

★ Brooke Burke dropped a bombshell revelation about her time as a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2008, admitting that she not only had a thing for pro partner Derek Hough at the time — she was tempted to engage in a “love affair” with him. Speaking on Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast, Brooke said: “I was crushing on Derek, for sure.” That confession prompted a shocked response from Cheryl, who noted that Hough often told her how “hot” he thought Brooke was at the time. Brooke continued, saying: “Had I not been married, I would have actually hoped we would have had a love affair.”

★ According to a report, the “Dancing With the Stars” producers were disappointed in Jamie Lynn Spears’ elimination on October 3. The competition show bosses were apparently hoping Spears would last longer, so they could potentially reconnect the actress with her estranged sister Britney Spears on air. A source said: “They really thought that they would have had a chance to get Britney to the ballroom and come(on) to the show — to not only support her sister but (also) support her book release.”
-OK!
★ Part of the original cast of “Mean Girls” have reunited for a new on-screen project — and it’s not the upcoming movie musical adaptation. Over the weekend, Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert were spotted on set, notably without the 4th member of The Plastics, Rachel McAdams. Just Jared showed pics of Lohan holding a clutch that reads, “Plastics Club Member, Est 2004” with the tagline from the movie: “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” TMZ spotted the women in a convertible and on a football field. It’s rumored the 3 are filming a Pepsi commercial for that could air during the Super Bowl.

★ Netflix has revealed that “The Crown’s” 6th and final season will be split into two parts, with Part 1, consisting of 4 episodes, set to premiere Nov. 16, followed by the 6-episode Part 2, the final batch of episodes, starting on Dec. 14. Netflix also released a brief teaser for the upcoming season, which shows the camera panning into a plush sitting room as a clock ticks. The teaser looks back on the life of the late queen, played by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman in earlier seasons, before settling on Imelda Staunton, who portrays the late monarch in the final season. BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Olivia Rodrigo – Monday, she played a one-off intimate performance in downtown LA for American Express cardholders. But don’t worry – the rest of us can see it too. A recording of the show went up on Rodrigo’s YouTube channel last night. It’ll be there through tomorrow.
• Dua Lipa — seems to be teasing her new era! Monday, she deleted all posts on her Instagram and changed her profile pic to a kaleidoscopic image of her eye. No official announcement yet, but she has been sharing updates on the progress of her third studio album throughout the year, indicating that it embraces the sounds of “1970s-era psychedelia.” LINK: https://www.instagram.com/dualipa/
• Amy Winehouse — The video for her 2007 hit ‘Back to Black’ has reached 1 billion views on YouTube. The black-and-white clip sees the singer mourning a failed romance, then joining a funeral procession, and spotting a gravestone that reads, “R.I.P. the Heart of Amy Winehouse.” However, the gravestone imagery was removed from the video after she died in 2011 at age 27.
• U2 — paid tribute to those killed over the weekend by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. At their Sunday Vegas show, the group performed ‘Pride (In the Name of Love)’, the 1984 classic originally written about Martin Luther King Jr., with altered lyrics. Bono asked the crowd to “sing with us and those beautiful kids at that music festival.”
• Tom Petty – The late rocker’s Oct. 20 birthday will be celebrated in style with the release of “Extra Mojo”, an expanded edition of his 2010 album “Mojo”. It features 2 previously unreleased recordings, one of which — a cover of Sonny Boy Williamson’s ‘Help Me’ — is out now, along with a music video. LINK: https://youtu.be/wpTNWxMqYJc
• Russell Dickerson – is now a dad of 2. He and his wife, Kailey, welcomed their second son, Radford Arthur Dickerson, on Sunday. Kailey wrote on Instagram: “Lil Rad man made his way into the world 17 hours after the show in Kansas City… Dad was dropped-off at the hospital on the tour bus and all… But we made it! LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5fh4h3ct
• Gabby Barrett – Her new song ‘Cowboy Back’ was inspired by her husband Cade Foehner. She said the song “is all about appreciating the hardworking guys out there with strong values – those who are authentically country.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2mv2msc2
• Toby Keith – His performance of ‘Don’t Let the Old Man In’ on the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards on Sept. 28 (where he received the Country Icon Award) resulted in a sales spike of 482% last week for the 2018 song, according to Luminate. The song also jumped from #11-1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

SHOOTING THE BULL

WEIGHT A MINUTE:
➢ Here’s some info that could come in “handy”. And I’m sorry for just delivering the worst pun, ever. A British psychologist says that the secret to weight-loss may lie in…eating with your wrong hand, Professor Richard Wiseman, who teaches at the University of Hertfordshire, says that using your non-dominant hand for eating will likely lead to less food consumption, because doing so takes longer, and forces you to be more mindful, because you need to “sort out coordination issues”. (At least until you get used to it – and then you can shovel it in really quickly with both hands!)
➢ That myth of being “fat but fit”? Yeah, it’s been debunked by a new study. German researchers found that obese individuals, even if they appear healthy, are still 50% more susceptible to coronary heart disease – and are also much more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes. The researchers say that weight management and recommendations for weight loss are important for people living with “metabolically healthy obesity”. (Also unhealthy? Recommending weight loss to someone living with “metabolically healthy obesity”!!)

DOESN’T ‘RING’ TRUE:
Up until now, we’ve mainly been using our doorbell cameras to try to spot porch pirates, and to decide whether we want to answer the door. But now, the maker of “Ring” doorbell cams is hoping someone can use their product to…spot an alien! The company is offering 1 million dollars to the user who films “unaltered scientific evidence of a real extraterrestrial lifeform” using their Ring device. In a statement, Ring said: “Whether it’s a video of an Extraterrestrial walking (or flying?) up your driveway and asking for directions — or an unidentifiable lifeform exhibiting unusual and extraordinary behavior in your backyard — submit your best footage!” Now, the company is fully aware that the chances of someone shooting footage of an ET with their doorbell cam is fairly remote, so they are also awarding runner-up prizes in the Million Dollar Search for Extraterrestrials: An ‘Out of this World’ prize of a $500 Amazon gift card. For that, they’re looking for “alien costumes and accessories, homemade spacecrafts, and Extraterrestrial-inspired communication with your Ring device”. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p9h8npj
(That second prize will be easy-peasy – especially in MY neighborhood!)
(…and just for clarity, they are offering a reward for capturing aliens on video…not capturing aliens. I had to say that, because, well…my kids…!)

MEOWCH:
Over the past week or so, the recipients of various Nobel Prizes have been announced, honoring the pinnacle of human achievement in sciences and art. And sure, those awards have their place. But let’s not overlook this: A charismatic black cat named Giles is the winner of the 15th Annual Hambone Award, given by Nationwide Insurance to the most ridiculous (yet still mild) pet medical claim of the year. It seems Giles took home a trophy — and some stitches — after getting stuck in a sofa bed. The Hambone Awards were inspired by a claim where a dog got mild hypothermia after getting stuck in a refrigerator and eating an entire ham. This year’s winner, Giles, had stiff competition — including a parrot who got in a fight with a door, and a phone charger-chewing puppy. The family of the Hambone winner receives a trophy, gift card, and an opportunity to donate to a pet charity of their choice.
(…and probably a surcharge on their pet health insurance!)
(What’s the most “Hamboned” pet injury you’ve ever heard of?)

SOBER OCTOBER:
Giving up booze for the month could do more than save you from a wicked hangover. Here are some of the other benefits you may experience if you totally teetotal…
✓ Healthier skin: You (or others) may notice your skin ‘glowing’ in a way not seen before as soon as 2 weeks after giving up booze. That’s because alcohol is a diuretic, so it can dehydrate the skin.
✓ Weight loss: By the 3rd week without alcohol, you may see the scale dip. One beer totals about 154 calories, 5 ounces of wine about 123, and a shot of the hard stuff about 100 per ounce. That, of course, can quickly add up, especially when you consider the added calories in whatever you use as mix. (Plus the pizza you and your buddies order at 2:30am!)
✓ Better sleep: Yes, you can probably pass out very easily after an evening of drinking. But alcohol disrupts the Rapid Eye Movement sleep-stage, leaving you feeling tired the next day. (As if I was doing anything the next day anyway…)
✓ Lowered risk for future health scares: Four weeks or more of sobriety not only allows the liver to recoup, it can also lower your risk of heart disease and cancer.
(One more benefit: You may go a full 31 days without saying something so off-color that you end up sleeping on the couch!)

DID YOU KNOW?

The average homeowner encounters a bug or other pest about 5 times per week, both inside and outside their home, according to a survey. And when bugs cross their path, 15% go into “exterminator mode”, immediately squishing a bug, regardless of where they see it — inside or outside. The survey of 2,000 Americans also found that 43% said if bugs or pests are found inside their home, only then would they kill it. A third (32%) will do the same only to bugs they see outside. 22% would call in a professional or get someone else to squish it for them. (Right? That’s why I got married!)
