★ The new Pixar film “Elio” has set the dubious record of suffering the worst opening weekend in the studio’s history. The animated movie is projected to have finished its debut weekend at the domestic box office with a total of just over $22 million. That puts it at #3, behind horror movie “28 Years Later”, and the live-action remake “How to Train Your Dragon”, which held onto the top spot in its second weekend with $35.7 million.

NY Times said the 55-year-old was “discovered in the shower unconscious and unresponsive, surrounded by approximately 100 assorted pills.” An autopsy has been completed, but no findings have been announced.

★ Paris Hilton has purchased Mark Wahlberg’s former mansion after losing her Malibu home in the LA wildfires. She’s the new owner of a roughly 30,500-square-foot, 12-bedroom Beverly Park property. There’s a sports court made for basketball and tennis, plus a skate park, 5-hole golf course with a driving range and a resort-style pool with waterslides. There’s also a wine cellar in the main house, as well as 20 bathrooms, a grand entryway with dual staircases, a 2-story library, a movie theater and a gym. Oh, and did I mention the price? $63 million. (We’re pretty sure that library’s going to go to waste…!)

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Jonas Brothers – Their new song was inspired by The Bee Gees‘ 1978 #1 hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’. ‘No Time To Talk’ interpolates the Bee Gees tune, and they say they got the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ permission to use the disco classic. Instead of the Bee Gees’ iconic chorus, “Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive,” the JoBros sing, “She said ‘I, I, I, I/ came to dance, no time to talk.’” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mw3f9ucx
• Beyoncé – brought out Miley Cyrus for a duet during her tour stop Thursday in Paris. They sang their duet ‘II Most Wanted’ from the “Cowboy Carter” album. Fan video shows Beyoncé lauding Cyrus saying: “I’m so grateful to watch you and to sing with you Miss Miley Cyrus.”
• Oasis – Released their Adidas collab on Friday. Ads for the 90s-inspired clothing range “Original Forever”, show Noel and Liam Gallagher pictured together for the first time since the reunion tour was announced last summer, wearing specially designed Adidas jackets. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5xhbf3dn
• Bruce Springsteen — His kids are unphased by his success. In a recent interview, he shared that his 3 children – all in their 30s – don’t even display his memorabilia in their New Jersey family home. Quote: “Except for a few guitars and a piano, you wouldn’t know musicians lived here…we tried to keep a very natural domestic existence for them.”
• Mötley Crüe – Friday, they released a new version of ‘Home Sweet Home’ – featuring Dolly Parton! A portion of profit from the 40th anniversary re-do of the song will benefit Covenant House, a non-profit for youth experiencing homelessness. It will appear on the “From The Beginning” singles collection, out Sept. 12. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ppmb2mzh
• Chris Janson — will release his 5th studio album “Wild Horses” on Aug. 1. It’ll contain 15 songs, including ‘Hardest Huntin’ Season’, ft. Jamey Johnson. His latest release off the forthcoming album is ‘The Bride’. Chris quote: “I’ve always referred to my wife, Kelly, as ‘the bride.’ This is the perfect love song and perfect for wedding season.”
• Kenny Chesney – will publish his first book. “HEART*LIFE*MUSIC,” out Nov. 4. It traces the life of Chesney from a small town in east Tennessee to a country music superstar. Kenny quote: “I remembered moments, connected dots and laughed a lot about some of the places I’ve been.”
• Blake Shelton – after turning 49 on Wed., he posted: “Thank you for all my happy birthday wishes! I love ya’ll! I’m kinda bummed though @lukebryan is the only of my friends that hasn’t reached out to me today. He’ll probably only do it now after he sees this.” Later, Bryan responded: “Happy birthday to everyone in the world today except @blakeshelton. Clearly you need to lay off the beers. ha.”
SHOOTING THE BULL
ENDLESS BUMMER:
Workdays aren’t just long anymore — they feel endless. According to new research from Microsoft, workers experiencing what they call an “infinite workday”, juggling a nonstop stream of meetings, messages, and interruptions that stretch well beyond the traditional 9-to-5. Evening meetings — especially those after 8pm — are up 16% from last year, thanks to remote teams and “flexible” hours. During a typical workday, employees are interrupted 275 times — that’s every 2 minutes — and the pings don’t stop after hours. The average employee sent or received 58 instant messages outside of their core working hours – and by 10pm, nearly a third of workers are back in their inboxes. And don’t forget the average of 117 daily emails and dozens of after-hours chats. The result? One in 3 workers say they simply can’t keep up. Microsoft compares it to assembling a bike before every ride — all effort, no momentum. The report concluded by noting: “The modern workday for many has no clear start or finish (and) time once reserved for focus or recovery may now be spent catching up, prepping, and chasing clarity”.
(The good thing? If you’re working all day every day – a Monday isn’t so bad, then, is it?)
(275 interruptions a day? That’s not a job — that’s parenting!)

A DOG’S LIFE:
New drugs designed to allow our dogs to live longer might not only extend your pet’s life — it could pave the way for humans to live longer too. A biotech company called Loyal is working on canine anti-aging drugs. Founder Celine Halioua, who used to work on human brain diseases, is now focused on giving our furry friends more happy, healthy years. Loyal is testing several treatments, especially for big breeds like Great Danes, which sadly don’t live as long as many other breeds. One drug, LOY-001, is an injectable; another, LOY-003, is a chewable pill. They’re designed to slow aging by targeting hormones that cause cells to burn out too fast. Another drug being tested, LOY-002, aims to boost metabolism in senior sniffers. The ultimate goal is to come up with a drug that adds at least one good year to your dog’s life — and improve their health while doing it. And the research could even teach us humans a few things about aging.
(Great, now my dog’s aging in reverse — while I pull a muscle tying my shoe…!)
(This is great – but it’s gonna make calculating “dog years” more confusing than ever!)

DANDY DANDELIONS:
Weeds — including those dandelions that have been taking over my lawn over the past few weeks — might be the enemy of the arborist, but according to gardener Jamie Walton, they’re secretly nutritional powerhouses — and we should be eating them, not yanking them. Walton, who is an ecological gardener in the UK, has built a huge following online for his nature-friendly approach to gardening. In his new book “Nettles and Petals”, he makes the case for giving weeds a second look — and even a spot on your dinner plate. Take dandelions: every part is edible, and full of vitamins A, C, and K. The flowers make a sweet syrup, and the roots can be used as a coffee substitute. Nettles? Think of them as supercharged spinach — just boil the sting out first. They’re packed with iron and are great in soups or stir-fries. Walton’s philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it. Sometimes the healthiest greens are the ones we’ve been digging out of the ground.
(I used to wage war on weeds — now I’m supposed to sauté them?)
(You can eat dandelions? Finally! I’ve managed to grow something in my garden that’s edible!)

THE THINGS WE WASTE TOO MUCH MONEY ON:
According to a self-made millionaire…
☞ Bulk grocery shopping (that ends up in the trash): How many times have you bought the mega pack of spinach, only to throw half away a week later? You’re not getting a deal if you toss what you paid for in the garbage. (Lady, I’ve NEVER bought a mega-pack of spinach!)
☞ Decorative household items for every season: Instead of spending on decorations that will be outdated soon, invest in timeless, high-quality home essentials and switch things up with small, inexpensive accents like candles or flowers. (Preach, sistah! I’ll go get my wife…)
☞ Children’s toys: Some parents spend hundreds – or thousands — on toys that their kids lose interest in within weeks. Less is more. Rotate toys instead of buying new ones, and prioritize experiences over stuff. (Oh. I thought you meant when I buy children’s toys for myself. Never mind…)
☞ Shoes that are bad for your feet: Stop buying shoes that don’t fit, don’t support your feet or that’ll only be worn once. A few high-quality pairs of comfortable, well-made shoes will take you further than a closet full of ‘medieval torture devices’. (I know people who spent hundreds just to walk like a wounded giraffe!)
☞ High-end skincare products: The beauty industry convinces us we need a 12-step routine with $80 serums – but most of it is pure marketing hype. Stick to simple, dermatologist-approved products that actually work. (I spent $80 on a serum that made me look exactly like I did before—just shinier!)
☞ Overpriced athleisure: $15 warehouse leggings and free t-shirts are just as good as the $100 Lululemon ones. Some love to justify expensive activewear by saying it motivates them to work out, but a fancy outfit doesn’t do push-ups for you. (Neither do the cheap ones, unfortunately…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Drinking your coffee black could help you live longer. In a study of the java habits of more than 46,000 people, those who drink 1-2 cups of black coffee a day (or coffee with small amounts of added sugar and saturated fat) were linked to a 14% lower risk of death from any cause. The study, carried out by researchers at Tufts University, also found that coffee with high amounts of added sugar and saturated fat had no health benefits. (I don’t know about the health benefits, but a grizzled morning show veteran at my first radio job told me this: “Kid, if you learn to drink your coffee black and your scotch on the rocks, you’ll be surprised how much simpler your life will be.” He wasn’t wrong…)
