Good Morning, Sheetheads!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jeremy Allen White is stepping into Bruce Springsteen’s shoes on the big screen, and the trailer is now out! “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 “Nebraska” album, and appears to explore Springsteen’s relationship with his childhood. The trailer also shows footage of White during an energetic performance of Springsteen’s 1975 classic ‘Born To Run’. “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” hits theaters Oct. 24. ★ Tom Cruise and Dolly Parton will be among this year’s recipients of honorary Oscars. They join choreographer, actor and director Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas, all scheduled to receive special Oscars at this year’s governors’ awards in November. Academy president Janet Yang called them “four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our film-making community continue to leave a lasting impact”.

★ Machine Gun Kelly has finally dropped the name of his baby girl with ex Megan Fox — and as you’d expect, it’s not your average handle. MGK posted a tender daddy-daughter moment to IG – showing him strumming a soft tune on a ukulele while his baby girl listened in — but the real showstopper was the caption: “Saga Blade Fox-Baker” with a heart emoji. MGK shut off comments on the post. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5cyphax5

★ Tyler Perry’s lawyer calls a $260 million lawsuit against the filmmaker a “shakedown” and “a scam”. Actor Derek Dixon is suing Perry for over alleged sexual harassment, assault and retaliation. Dixon accuses Perry of creating “a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic” between them while he was starring in the shows “The Oval” and “Ruthless”. The complaint accuses Perry of “promising him career advancement and creative opportunities…only to subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry’s unwanted advances.”

★ Kelsey Grammer’s family is growing again! The 70-year-old “Frasier” star and his wife Kayte Walsh, who is 46, are expecting their 4th baby together, his 8th child. Grammer was photographed in London with his pregnant wife as they strolled through a park. In May he opened up about being a father to 7, telling People mag that since he’s had his 3 younger kids, he’s been “playing catch up” with his older ones.

SHOOTING THE BULL

TIRED, AND REFIRED?
Do you feel exhausted before your day even starts? You’re not alone: about 1 in 3 people say they’re already drained the moment they wake up. And it only gets worse from there. A new survey of 2,000 Americans reveals what’s zapping our energy, and it’s not just a bad night’s sleep (though that definitely doesn’t help…). Interruptions, awkward small talk, and unsolicited advice top the list of social energy killers. Add in gloomy weather, money stress, and office gossip, and it’s no wonder we’re worn out before lunch — with the average crash hitting at 11:54am. And physical energy isn’t faring much better. Lack of sleep (42%) and constant housework (28%) are dragging people down. And while most people agree that staying hydrated helps, the average person drinks just over 5 cups of water a day — well below the recommended 8 or 9. And how do we fight back? Caffeine, loud music, power naps, a quick walk outside, or even a bit of stretching are the top methods put in use to feel less like a zombie.
(Housework drains me — and I’m only watching someone else do it!)
(Exercise to feel energized? Sorry — I’d rather nap aggressively.)

MORE NEW FOOD NEWS:

❑ We’ve got a winner! Lay’s just crowned its 2025 “Do Us A Flavor” champion — and the top chip is Bacon Grilled Cheese. Submitted by Paula George from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the flavor was inspired by her late father’s signature sandwich, combining crispy bacon and melty cheese in every bite. George wins the $1 million prize, beating out over 700,000 entries (seriously), including the other top finalists Valentina & Lime and Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken. The new nostalgic, savory creation joins past winners like Cheesy Garlic Bread in Lay’s flavor hall of fame. (Bacon and cheese? Bold of her to read my diary!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/33anfb5d
❑ Summer’s heating up — and so are your drink options. From new Coca-Cola flavors to retro craft root beer, there’s something for everyone. But when it’s hot and you’re on the move, nothing hits like Gatorade. And now, the classic hydration go-to is packing serious flavor variety. This year, Gatorade has brought back Aqua Blast, made Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast permanent, and launched Mashups — combos of fan-favorite flavors. And now, there’s a new kid on the block: Summer Blaze. Available exclusively at Circle K, the 28-ounce bottle’s flavor hasn’t been officially revealed, but the internet says it screams “peach.” (Peach or not, now I’m emotionally invested!) TATTLETALE TATTOO:
Here’s what might be the next “wearable tech”: Imagine wearing a sticker on your forehead that tells you when your brain’s overloaded. That’s exactly what researchers at the University of Texas at Austin have created. It’s an ultra-thin, wireless “e-tattoo” you stick on your skin, and it monitors brain activity and eye movements to gauge mental stress in real time. Perfect for high-stakes jobs like air traffic control, piloting, or truck driving, the tattoo measures EEG and EOG signals – with no bulky cap or goo required. In tests with memory tasks, it was able to detect the brain waves that indicate rising effort and increasing fatigue. A smart algorithm even predicts when you’re nearing cognitive burnout. The whole setup costs under $200 – much cheaper than a traditional $15,000 EEG system. While still in trials, the dream is that one day, these face tattoos could help everyone from surgeons to meditators stay in their mental “sweet spot.”
(Can it just turn red when I hit maximum drama?)
(But let’s face it – if you were forced to walk around with a tattoo on your face, you stress level might be a little high to begin with…)

THE WORLD’S MOST LIVEABLE CITIES:
Vienna is no longer the most liveable city in the world. After owning the title for 3 years, the Austrian capital has been beaten out by “Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen” in the annual list from the Economist Intelligence Unit. Denmark’s capital came out on top of the EIU’s 2025 ranking of 173 cities around the world on factors including healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure and environment. Here’s this year’s top 10…
1. Copenhagen, Denmark
2. Vienna, Austria (tie)
2. Zurich, Switzerland (tie)
4. Melbourne, Australia
5. Geneva, Switzerland
6. Sydney, Australia
7. Osaka, Japan
7. Auckland, New Zealand
9. Adelaide, Australia
10. Vancouver, Canada
(Oh yeah? Have you ever tried to pay rent in some of those cities?)

DID YOU KNOW?
The world’s most popular messaging platform, WhatsApp will soon be displaying ads. Meta made the announcement this week, reversing WhatsApp’s longtime stance against advertising. The good news? You may not notice a difference — if you only use it to text your international friends and family. The company indicated that messages will remain ad-free, and sponsored content will only appear in Updates, a social tab launched 2 years ago which is similar to the “Stories” feature on other apps. (For now…)

BS CHRONOMETER 06.19.25

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Juneteenth”, officially “Juneteenth National Independence Day”, on the anniversary of the 1865 announcement of General Order #3, proclaiming freedom from slavery in Texas. This day celebrates the emancipation of all who had been enslaved in the US.
• “Recess at Work Day”, started in 2004 because in order for workers to be productive, happy, and loyal, they need to have a fun work environment. Recess at Work Day is a starting point in improving employee morale, happiness, health, wellness, and productivity. (How about some “Reese’s Pieces for recess?)
• “World Sauntering Day”, a day to “revive the art of Victorian sauntering, and discourage jogging, lollygagging, sashaying, fast walking, and trotting”. (It’s also “Martini Day”, can we stumble?)

• “Eat an Oreo Day”. Oreo has been the best-selling cookie in the United States since its introduction in 1912. The perfection of an Oreo cookie is down to an exact science. By the way, a 2016 Utah State University study found the optimal amount of time to dip an Oreo in milk – is 3 seconds.
• “Pets in Film Day”. We all have our favorites canine stars – from ‘Lassie’ to ‘Snoopy’, to ‘Rin Tin Tin’ to ‘Marley’. And how about cats such as ‘Buttercup’ from “Hunger Games” Or ‘Puss in Boots’? What other memorable pets on the big screen left an impact on you?
• “Garfield the Cat Day”, honoring Jim Davis’ fat cat comic strip on the anniversary of its 1978 debut in newspapers. (Big fat hairy deal…)
• “Watch Day”, to recognize an industry that has been around for more than 500 years. Choosing a watch is very personal, as they present a statement of who we are. Even with the advent of smartphones and smartwatches, the classic wristwatch signals individual taste and culture.

BS WHACK FACTS:

✓ The word ‘bi-weekly’ has two meanings. Twice a week, and once every two weeks.
✓ Kraft produces enough Cool Whip each year to fill the Grand Canyon.
✓ There are over 100 billion known galaxies. How many unknown galaxies there are — is not known. (Makes sense…)
