Sheet Happens!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Police are hunting for 2 masked raiders who broke into farm buildings on the Windsor Castle estate as Prince William, Kate Middleton and their 3 children reportedly slept in their home nearby. The burglary, in which intruders got into the estate over a 6-foot fence, took place on Oct. 13. The men made away with 2 farm vehicles, say police, and used a stolen vehicle to crash through a security gate on the way out. The Sun reports that the incident happened at Shaw Farm, one of the working farms on the estate, and follows the reported removal of armed police officers at the gate that the intruders used. No comment so far from Buckingham Palace.

★ Jonathan Majors is engaged to Meagan Good. The couple shared the big news at the EBONY Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Good, who is 43, flashed her engagement ring while posing for pictures with 35-year-old Majors. The “One Missed Call” actress stood by Majors when he went to trial for his assault and harassment scandal, which cost him his job playing ‘Kang the Conqueror’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 2 became a couple in May 2023, after meeting in the unisex bathroom at the EBONY Power 100 event that year, Good shared.

★ Tilda Swinton says she has made her final movie. The 64-year-old actress admitted every time she makes a film she contemplates walking away from the industry on a high — only to change her mind when a new offer comes in, but at this point, she can’t see herself doing anything beyond “The Room Next Door”, out next month. She told Elle magazine: “I always thought, ‘Well, that’s a good one to go out on. Let’s just quit while we’re ahead.’ And I feel it today. I feel The Room Next Door is the last film I make.” She also appears in “The End”, which will also be released in December.

★ Paul Mescal has been tapped to host the next episode of “Saturday Night Live”. The “Gladiator II” actor, who will be promoting the film on the heels of its November 22 theatrical release, will be joined on the December 7th episode by musical guest Shaboozey, who is enjoying massive success with his hit ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’. It will be an SNL debut for both.

★ Disney has removed a planned “Star Wars” movie from its 2026 release schedule. The studio was due to release a new film from the sci-fi franchise, for which details hadn’t been disclosed, on Dec. 18, 2026, but it has now been taken off the roster, and instead, “Ice Age 6” appears in its place. Disney revealed at D23 in Brazil earlier this month that the follow-up to 2016’s “Ice Age: Collision Course” had gone into production, with Ray Romano, Queen Latifah and John Leguizamo all reprising their voice roles.

• Taylor Swift — welcomed a special guest on stage during her “Eras Tour” show in Toronto on Saturday. She brought Gracie Abrams out to help her perform ‘Out of the Woods’, paired with Abram’s ‘Us’, from her latest album “The Secret Of Us”. The recorded version of the song features Swift.
• Tate McRae – has dropped her new single ‘2 Hands’, and announced the Feb. 21 release of her hotly anticipated third album “So Close To What”. In addition, she announced the 2025 “Miss Possessive” world tour, set to begin March 18 in Mexico City. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ymxv5cs7
• Kiss – While it’s true that they finished their farewell tour in 2023, Paul Stanley recently told the Daily Times that he’d still be open to playing with his bandmates again for a one-off performance. Quote: “Anything’s possible. Kiss is so far from over, though Kiss as we know it is done…So, I look forward to whatever comes next without knowing what comes next. But I’m open to it all.”
• Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers — An animated video for the previously unreleased song ‘Never Be You’ has been released. The song appears on the recently released “Long After Dark (Deluxe Edition)” reissue. It was originally recorded by Rosanne Cash in 1985. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3f7p9xu9
• Sammy Hagar – Jason Bonham won’t be returning to Hagar’s band for future “Best of All Worlds” shows. The drummer posted his latest tour dates for his Led Zeppelin Evening band, and when asked by a follower when he’d return to Hagar, he replied: “Sammy has decided to carry on with Kenny (Aronoff); so sadly, no.” Aronoff subbed for Bonham when he had to miss a few shows due to a family emergency. • Miranda Lambert — teamed with artist Ceci Mulia on an animated music video for the song ‘Armadillo’, from her latest album “Postcards From Texas”. It’s on YouTube now. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdez8nep
• Morgan Wallen – His hit ‘Lies Lies Lies’ is at the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, marking his 5th #1 on the chart in 2024. That’s more than any artist has ever had in a year in the chart’s history. In the past, both Garth Brooks and Luke Combs, as well as Wallen himself (in 2023), have earned four #1s on the chart in a year.
• Thomas Rhett – recently revealed that his childhood babysitter was none other than Reba McEntire. He explained to CMT that his father, Rhett Akins, “used to tour with Reba”. And how was she as a babysitter? “Nothing would fly under Reba’s watch.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/59e5vj46

SHOOTING THE BULL

STOP LOLing – ASAP!
Do you LOL? Of course you do! Everyone uses abbreviations when texting – but should we? Apparently not, according to a new study. Research published by the American Psychological Association concluded that if you want to sound more honest — and receive more responses to the texts you send, you should actually spell out words rather than abbreviate them. The researchers carried out an analysis of replies to Discord group chat users, and Tinder users’ conversation histories across 37 countries. Although they expected that texters would appreciate abbreviations because it would convey a sense of closeness, they found that those who use them were seen as putting in less effort, and therefore were seen as less sincere. Texters were found to receive shorter and fewer responses, were less likely to receive a reply, and received contact info less often. And perhaps surprisingly, while younger generations tend to use more text abbreviations, they still weren’t happy about receiving them.
(So basically: Stop LOLing, or they won’t TTYL?)
(Don’t you hate it when people start making up THEIR OWN abbreviations? Like how was I supposed to know that PPUSLD means “Please Pick Up Some Lasagne”, Dear?)

ANIMAL TALES:
⇒ Many workplaces in New York City are already implementing a proposed bill that would allow employees to take sick days for pet parent-related duties, including vet trips and potty training. But the “pawternity leave” policy does have its detractors, with some people arguing that it’s giving employees too long of a leash. The proposed bill calls for an expansion of the Earned Safe and Sick Time Act, which guarantees time off of work for employees to take care of themselves or family, to allow employees to use that time off to also care for animals. A survey conducted by pet wellness plan provider Wagmo found that 75% of employed pet owners missed at least one day of work within the last year to look after a pet, and 26% missed 6 or more days. (You’ve got to admit, it’d be nice when you’re hungover to be able to say your dog is sick, rather than have to kill off your grandmother again!)
⇒ A first-of-its-kind, all-in-one canine club opens in New York this week, that promises swanky daytime digs to the pups of the affluent. For $1,350 a month, Happy Tails members (‘rich bitches’?) will have access to posh puppy playgrounds and obstacle courses, grooming, pet-friendly wine, a dog therapist and psychic, and more. The 10,000-square-foot clubhouse features a jungle-themed area where members can jump through hoops dangling from the ceiling; a “tea room,” where calm canines can chill on fake grass and couches; a play area for puppies, and another room full of balls and other toys. Prospective pups undergo a multi-step application and assessment process, and are only given the green light when the doggie behavioral therapist gives the official “paws up”. (That’d be a lot of money to pay for my dog to lie around all day, and occasionally barf!)

BOY FRIENDS:
How many friends would you say the average guy has? According to a new survey, men have 5 “general” friends, 3 close friends, and 2 best friends, on average. The poll of 2,000 guys in the US also found that 35% of them also have a “friend crush”. That’s a dude that they want to be friends with. 33% of men said they are good with calling their friends “bro”. “Brother” or “brotha” is used by 26%, and 21% call them “homie”. Only 6% would say they have a “bestie”.  About half of Gen Z and millennials said they spend the most time playing video games when they’re with their friends, while Gen X and baby boomers prefer to watch sports with their guy friends, and those 80 and up said they tend to go to restaurants together.
(Does no one golf anymore?)
(Those 5 “general” friends? That becomes about 20 if you buy a pickup truck, I found!)

FOODS THAT FADED AWAY:
Just like fashion and entertainment, some foods fall in and out of favor, depending on our ever-changing tastes. Here are some foods that we just aren’t as interested in anymore, according to Stacker…
✗ Olive loaf: Remember the deli meat mixture of pork, chicken and beef with green olives? (You’re lucky if you don’t!)
✗ Ambrosia salad: This sweet creamy salad can include canned pineapple and mandarin oranges as well as fresh oranges, miniature marshmallows, and coconut. (It’s the thing your grandma made every time she had company…)
✗ Orange drink: Think Tang, or an equivalent by another company. It’s still out there, but definitely not as popular as it once was.
✗ TV dinners: While they were a staple on many grocery lists in the 1960s-80s, the ready-to-heat meal with a main, sides and even a dessert has been replaced by other instant-style meals. (…that actually taste like the stuff they say you’re eating!)
✗ Jello mold: Also referred to as Jello salad, this was a gelatin mold with a mix of things like fruit, grated carrots and other veggies, cottage and cream cheese, marshmallows, and crunchy fillings like pretzels and nuts.
✗ Ice cream soda: During its heyday in the early 1900s, thousands of shops served up this sweet soda beverage with scoops of ice cream and tasty homemade syrups.
✗Ovaltine: Originally made in Switzerland, it is a chocolate powder made from whey, malt, cocoa, and sugar that can be prepared in hot or cold milk. Although tasty and full of vitamins, it is not nearly as popular as it once was. (Same.)
✗ Fruitcake: Of COURSE fruitcake! It dates back to ancient Roman times, a sweet energy bar made with barley, honey, pomegranate seeds, wine, and dried fruit. Thankfully, they are now pretty much relegated to a holiday sweet treat. (And calling it a “treat” is a bit of a stretch…)
(What food do you remember – that you wish they’d bring back?)

DID YOU KNOW?
It may not be robots that will rule Earth when humanity goes extinct. Experts say that octopuses are the most likely creatures to take over the world, thanks to the marine animal’s intelligence and adaptability. University of Oxford professor Tim Coulson said that the octopus is one of the most “resourceful creatures” on the planet, making them more likely to overrun Earth than animals like birds or insects, which, while intelligent, “lack the fine motor skills needed to construct a civilization.” (I vote that we let ‘em take over now, and see if they can’t do a better at job running the place than we are!)

• “Play Monopoly Day”. First introduced in 1935, the best-selling board game of all time is based on a game designed by Elizabeth Magie in 1902. Today, you can find Monopoly in many themes, including World War, sports, 007, ABBA, Star Wars, Star Trek, Scooby Doo, and themes of famous cities.

BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ It would take over an hour for a heavy object to sink to the deepest part of the ocean.
✓ Because so many people live near the equator, two thirds of the Earth’s population have never seen snow in person.
✓ Cats also have “whiskers” on the backs of their forelegs.
✓ Rats procreate so quickly that within a year and a half, two rats could have over 1 million descendants.
✓ You probably know that tomatoes are fruits. But did you know that olives are too?
✓ Princess Diana had to call Prince Charles “sir” until they were formally engaged.

➠ A study says marijuana can weaken the heart muscles. (Great . . . one more thing to be paranoid about!)
