★ After Lady Gaga’s 2011 hit ‘Bloody Mary’ went viral when fans spliced it together with a clip of Jenna Ortega dancing in the hit Netflix “Wednesday”, it is being reported that Gaga has joined the cast for season 2 of the show. Full details of Gaga’s role are still unknown, though she is currently filming the show in Europe. At the Golden Globes in 2023, Ortega revealed that she wanted Gaga to join the show, and even mapped out a potential storyline, saying: “Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship, or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be 2 monsters that understand each other.”

★ A friend of Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, has seemingly claimed the rumors of his affair with Sutton Foster are true. British actress and photographer Amanda de Cadenet appeared to make the bombshell claim in the comments section of an Instagram video from gossip blogger Tasha Lustig, which alleges Jackman left his wife for Foster after they fell in love while starring together in “The Music Man” on Broadway. In response, de Cadenet wrote: “You are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment FYI!” Furniss later “liked” the post.

★ Ryan Reynolds became a real-life hero by making a little boy’s dreams come true. The “Deadpool & Wolverine” star recently responded to a young fan named Riley from England, who is battling cancer and requested meeting Reynolds as his Make-A-Wish. I’m so excited to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you.” Near the end of their conversation, Reynolds also alluded to seeing the young boy in person at an upcoming Wrexham A.F.C. soccer game. HOSTIRED:
It’s like being “hangry”, but for tired people. And we all do it. When we feel mentally drained, it’s only natural to get ‘meaner’ and more hostile, according to a new study. Scientists from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca in Italy determined that that making several difficult decisions at once can wear down the brain areas responsible for self-control. That essentially puts those areas of the brain “to sleep”, leading to aggressive or impulsive behavior. The team found that spending just 45 minutes on ‘executive function’ tasks like making plans and solving problems increases the likelihood you’ll engage in aggressive acts in social situations.
(Just 45 minutes of “making plans and solving problems” makes you grouchy? Moms of toddlers who remain cheery, I have a whole new appreciation for the great work you do!)
(I see. Based on this, I’d say the boss around here is either always tired – or always mean!)

TOYS IN THE HALL:
The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced this year’s inductees: My Little Pony, Transformers and Phase 10 (a card game). The National Toy Hall of Fame, part of The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester NY, said the inductees were selected from a list of finalists that also included Apples to Apples, balloons, Choose Your Own Adventure books, Hess Toy Trucks, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, remote-controlled vehicles, Sequence, the stick horse, and the trampoline.
(How can they have a hall of fame, and balloons aren’t in it? Oh, well, I guess someday, their time will come. Just like Bananarama in the Rock Hall of Fame!)
(I really hope the “Barrel of Monkeys” is in there, because it kinda set the standard. There’s nothing more fun than that!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ An Oregon cyclist who was sideswiped by an ambulance has filed a lawsuit against the ambulance provider — after workers scooped him up, drove him to the hospital – then billed him for the service. 71-year-old William Hoesch faces a $47,000 medical bill, with another $50,000 in expenses expected as he recovers. The suit states that the ambulance attempted to make a right turn in front of Hoesch, and crashed into him, causing serious injuries and destroying his bicycle. Hoesch’s lawyer says Columbia River Fire & Rescue sent his client a bill for $1,862 after delivering him to hospital. (Wait ‘til he finds out he’s also getting a parking ticket for where his bike landed!)
➢ A lowly Scottish soccer club, which once had “James Bond” actor Sean Connery on its books, has been given a 6-point deduction – because its field is slanted. Now Bonnyrigg Rose is calling on fans to help fundraise more than 100,000 pounds (US$127,000) to level out the playing surface. After being promoted to Scottish League Two in 2022, the club faced pressure from soccer authorities to fix the uneven field at its New Dundas Park home near Edinburgh. Last week, Bonnyrigg was given a points deduction for breaching the league’s rules regarding the gradient of the field, and was told to provide details by the end of January of plans to level it by next summer. (We understand they face an “uphill battle” to get it done by then. Sorry.)

DID YOU KNOW?
The newest fashion trend for fall just might be the “Scoat”. The what-now? The scoat is, in effect, simply a coat with a scarf attached to it. The Wall Street Journal claims the scoat is all the rage these days among snooty fashion people. The Scandinavian take on “quiet luxury” has inspired an army of copycats ranging in price from $60 for online cheapies – to over $1,100 for scoats from designer labels.
(Hey – winter’s coming…attach a pair of woolen pants too, and THEN we’ll talk!)

BS CHRONOMETER 11.15.24
TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day”. When was the last time you checked to see what was in the back of your refrigerator or at the bottom of the drawers? Or checked the expiration date of everything in there? Just what is that lurking in the back? Don’t open it, just throw it out! (“Is this still good?”) [***See “BS Signs Your Fridge Needs Cleaning”, below***]
• “Pack Your Mom’s Lunch Day”, when kids with a mom who has gone back-to-school are encouraged to honor her efforts by making her lunch. (Please don’t use any of that stuff that you just cleaned out of the fridge!)
• “Bundt Day”, celebrating the cake of that name, which is baked in a special mold. It was first popularized in the 1950s and ’60s. Time to get out that ‘Bundt pan’ you never use, so you can justify stowing it for another year.
• “Steve Irwin Day”. Crikey! It’s to honor the life and legacy of the one and only Crocodile Hunter (1962-2006). This day represents the things he was passionate about: family, wildlife conservation and fun. Among other things, you’re encouraged to wear khaki today. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p8dxrka
• “Philanthropy Day”, to recognize the great contributions people in the philanthropic community make to our lives, our communities, and our world.
• “George Spelvin Day” (female variation: ‘Georgette’), commemorating the 1886 invention of the fictitious name used on Broadway for actors who have a 2nd role in a play. The name has appeared in over 10,000 Broadway programs. ‘Walter Plinge’ is similarly used in the UK.
• “Raisin Bran Cereal Day”. It was created and first sold by the Skinner Manufacturing Company in 1926. As other brands entered the market in the 1940’s, a US court ruled they could also use the name, because it simply refers to 2 of the main ingredients. Since then, names such as Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, General Mills’ Total Raisin Bran, and Post Cereals’ Post Raisin Bran all share shelf space at supermarkets.
• “I Love to Write Day”, started by author John Riddle, who wanted a day set aside so that everyone, no matter their age, could spend some time writing. It doesn’t matter what you write today, as long as you write what you want to write. (Alright?)
SATURDAY:
• “Fast Food Day”, a day when we’re encouraged to celebrate by going out to our favorite fast-food joint. (Like I need an excuse…) LINK: https://www.holidayscalendar.com/event/national-fast-food-day/
• “National Button Day”, celebrating buttons that are used on clothing, for ornamentation or as fasteners. Button collecting, which is most popular in the US, varies from people having buttons in a container for future use, to casual collecting, to competitive collecting. (Y’know what drives me nuts? People who pronounce it “buddon”!)
• “International Day for Tolerance”, established by the UN in 1996 to promote the need for worldwide tolerance and understanding. (Sorry about that “buddon” comment…)
• “Have a Party With Your Bear Day”. The idea is to spend some time with your Teddy Bear and have a party with some balloons and cake. (If you happen to have a REAL pet bear, we’re not going to stop you from sitting down and having cake with it…!)
• “Check Your Wipers Day”, reminding drivers to regularly check their windshield wipers to ensure optimum visibility in the event of inclement weather. (I just got new set of windshield wipers for my 15- year-old minivan. Great trade…)
SUNDAY:
• “Leonid Meteor Shower”, the annual sky-show when you can see ‘shooting stars’, peaks overnight tonight. This year, under a dark sky, you might see 10-15 Leonid meteors per hour. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5d6u2rk9
• “Homemade Bread Day”, when we’re encouraged to bake a loaf from scratch. Mmm . . . can you smell that? (It’s also “Butter Day”. Coincidence?)
• “Baklava Day”, celebrating the Greek/Turkish dessert treat that’s made from phyllo pastry, honey, nuts, and other yummy ingredients. (Can we get this delivered? Now?)
• “Unfriend Day”, an idea instigated by Jimmy Kimmel in 2010, because you really don’t need to be Facebook friends with people you went to camp with in Middle School. Or your former co-worker’s boyfriend’s roommate. (Or anyone with a “couple” profile…)
• “Farm Joke Day”, a day to have a chuckle about the rural lifestyle. Go ahead, have a cow!
Here are a few … but be warned – they’re corn-y!
➢ Why did the scarecrow win the Nobel Prize? Because he was out standing in his field!
➢ What do you get when you cross a robot and a tractor? A transfarmer.
➢ As a farmer, I hear lots of jokes about sheep. I told them to my dog, but he’d ‘herd’ them all.
• “Take a Hike Day”. Instead of taking your walk today along city streets or in a mall or gym, find a park or place in the country. Hiking is great exercise, and even more importantly … a great stress reliever. (And if you make a playlist for the occasion, be sure to label it “Trail Mix”!)
• “The Little Mermaid Day”, celebrating the animated musical fantasy film that was released on this day in 1989. Originally, it was to be one of Disney’s earliest feature films, with work on it beginning after the completion of “Snow White” in the 1930’s. But plans were shelved, and the film wasn’t considered again for almost a half century.
• “World Prematurity Awareness Day”, with the goal of improving the health of babies and striving to prevent premature birth, the #1 cause of infant mortality. LINK: http://www.marchofdimes.org
